Is it just me, or are window gradients even lighter gray than lion?

EDIT: The "software update" and "app store" buttons in apple menu. I understand same task but different implications...still kinda redundant??

Don't know if this has been posted yet but you can flip the pages of the Calendar with a two-fingered swipe.

I'd really like to see iBooks come to the Mac App Store.

The default behavior for option+left/right arrow is now to switch between spaces. In Snow Leopard the default behavior for option+left/right arrow was to move the cursor in text boxes between words. Option+del will still delete the word before the cursor and Fn+Opt+Del will still delete the word ahead of the cursor.

Luckily for those of us who skipped to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard this can be changed in the Keyboard preference pane.

I just found out that ML has new command line utilities. One of the most interesting ones is "caffeinate". You can now use the "caffeinate" command in Terminal to prevent your mac from sleeping. The name is similar to the app that has been out for quite a while called Caffeine that does the same thing.

Anyways, to prevent the system from sleeping for an hour, just type this into the Terminal:

Code:
caffeinate -u -t 3600

Change the number of seconds to suit your needs. For example,
Code:
caffeinate -u -t 7200
disables system sleep for two hours.

Pretty cool how that's now built in I guess.

Tell me this is new. This is new right?

I can finally say "Safari feels snappier".
and it really is.. things load so much faster and now I barely see the beach ball while before it was there all the time.

I've been quite impressed with the performance and additional features so far with Mountain Lion. Though I was happy enough with Lion this does feel like what Lion was truly meant to be.

My single largest gripe is that they haven't fixed how dual monitor setups are handled with fullscreen apps. It's totally ridiculous that a full screen app on one monitor disables the second monitor from use. I can't fathom how they ended up with that being "working as designed". Giving us the ability to swipe between fullscreen apps on multiple displays independently, have one full screen (and swipeable) app on one and your desktop on the other, or just allow two unique desktops a la Spaces would all be amazing additions. That would really take this release to the next level IMO and add a lot of lost functionality from Lion and Mission Control back into Mountain Lion while enhancing it even further.

Agreed 100%. It's idiotic.

swipe tabs in safari 6

This one is so useful, it makes me wonder why apple didn't think of it as early as when the magic pad first came out.

So I discovered that Notification Center with banners and badges will work with Messages when its closed, but not with Mail when its closed. With mine, Mail has to be open (indicator light on under icon) in order for NC to receive notifications, yet Messages doesn't.

A bit annoying, but then again, Mail isn't checking for new messages when its closed, so it wouldn't know when something new comes in. Messages must be "always on".

Messages has a process running for checking messages that is separate from the app in which you read them. With mail, those two functions are in the same app.

Lauchpad feels slower to swipe.... Lion was was a lot more quicker.

Plus, Apple has removed folders from Lanchpad...by default now, there is no Applications & Utilities folders..... You must do these by yourselves.

This may have been due to the fact i did an in-place upgrade *shrugs*

One may think this is no big deal.../ but why were they there in the first place ?

I did a clean install and my folders are in place. Except utilities has been renamed to other.

Lucky, I did a regular upgrade from MAS and after the install my launchpad apps were scattered over 3 pages! I normally only have 1. Took me a little while to get them reorganized how I like them.

The Utilities folder being renamed irked me a bit. And it took a few restarts before it finally stopped changing the name back again.

Can somebody tell me how to wake a computer on wireless?

Loving the new notification center. It reminds me of using Windows 8 when it notifies you of a message etc and I always missed it when using OS X. (but not any more).

Also love how Messages now looks much better in full screen than it did in the Beta.

I don't know if anyone have discovered it yet, but there's a bit of changes in the way OSX manage open application / program if the dock doesn't have the shortcut yet.

Previously on SL and Lion, whenever you open a program it will create a temporary shortcut on the dock (if the dock doesn't have a shortcut to the program). Depending on your dock preferences, if you disable "Minimise windows into application icon" then it will "add" a snapshot icon on the right side of the dock whenever you minimise, and if you enable it then it will just shrink it inside the program shortcut (temporary / permanent). Either or, you will have the program shortcut showing on the dock.

In Mountain Lion, if you open a program that doesn't have the permanent shortcut, then the dock will not create a temporary shortcut. Either you disable or enable "Minimise windows into application icon", it will still make a snapshot icon on the right side of the dock.

Not so for me. It all works the way it did in Lion.

So if you remove iTunes from the dock, then open it, you won't have an iTunes logo in the dock? That sounds like a bug, have you tried rebooting your system? :)

Acess some shared services available on your iMac ( for example: SSH,AFP,VNC(Apple Remote desktop) etc...) . Depends on your "sharing" settings :)

Faces integration in photo picker

For everybody that doesn't have the Faces option in photo picker, Contacts and Users & Groups, I found a solution over at the Apple forum. In ~/Library check to see if you have an Images folder. Should be ~/Library/Images. If not just create it, thats it. I hope this helps.
