did anybody notice how Messages automatically turns itself off after a while?
Basically if you leave Message idling for extended period of time (1 hour +) it will shut itself down. I also notice that if you don't have any Messages windows open, the running indicator in the dock just disappears...

This is incredibly annoying... I already filed a bug report, though not sure if this is just me or this is indeed a bug.

My bad, un-leather, but I did mean the same thing :)

No problem! :D I just thought you were one of those ignorant guys who hopped on the anti "skeuskeuomorphism"-train without knowing what it really is, but yet still shout from the top of their lungs for it to be removed.

I agree that Find My Friends look bad. I agree that the linen isn't the prettiest texture and it's a good riddance. However, I think that Notes look great, sure, it mimics a physical object, but why exactly is that bad? Pages for iOS looks great as well. The brown leather navigation bar goes perfectly with the gold buttons!

I don't understand why people dogmatically go after textured interfaces as if it were the devil himself who sat in front of Photoshop and designed them. :D

Thanks mate, very good. The only thing that I couldn't locate was the safari power feature.

It's automatic. Visit a page that uses flash ads. It's just as Apple has shown on it's site.

i think you should be running on battery power for this to get enabled.

I'm not sure. I don't remember which I was on when I saw it for the first time. Makes sense to be on the battery for it to activate.

The Safari Power Saver feature is in the Advanced preferences and is enabled by default (whether plugged in or using the battery).

How do I change the bubble color on iMessage? Now every contact I have, have a different bubble color and I can't seem to find how to change.

So it's a bug. I have, for each different contact, orange, 2xblue, 2xpink, grey, silver. The message I send is always blue.

I think so. Maybe someone else can say, but like iOS 6, you should have blue for iMessage and green for a SMS txt message. No other colors in iMessage, well gray for responses.

Messages Preferences → Viewing tab. By default, each of your contacts gets a random color assigned in Messages.app. You can change it to all be the same here. It's been like that forever.

Yea, well I'm an idiot. I was posting in the wrong forum. I thought he was talking about iOS 7. My bad

xD It's ok, I'm a retarded too :D

Yeah... my bad... I did this in ML but don't know why I didn't see that now

Another thing, is youtube working fine for you guys?

He did. Although I think Photoshop is praising him a bit, maybe mspaint?

As compared to iOS, where they are trying to appeal with cuteness, the truck OS still has as its main aim, for the UI to be consistent and to basically get out of the way.

Apple just always seems to have difficulty achieving this across the board - from the brushed metal of 10.0-10.2, to the unified titlebar/toolbar of Mail in 10.3, to Dashboard in 10.4, to the scrollbars in iTunes, etc. up until they ditched scrollbars altogether, to GarageBand, which was forever hideous to behold, to the skeuomorphism of ML; for me, even to the MAS and apparently upcoming iBookStore, for some reason they just can't do consistency. But it had been getting worse, and that was just a worry. 10.9 is looking promising, but there's still GC, Reminders and QuickTime; if just once we could see the light....

Lost all my user data when I switch between "Better battery life" and "Higher performance" in "Energy Saver". (Macbook pro 15 inch mid-2009).

It's not a bug, it's a feature. No data means better battery life :D

This one is strange...

If someone of you with Mavericks beta installed can answer, I have two questions:

1. Does Mail.app check for new e-mails without running in the background? If not, do you at least get a push notification on your Mac when you receive an email message on the iPhone?
2. Do you receive push notifications on your Mac when you get an SMS message on the iPhone?

Hi to everyone,
I would like point out the different Time Machine handling by using Battery...

... mode.

Am I right in saying that Mavericks has the 'AM' and 'PM' in lower case now as per this screenshot?

I can't remember what it was for 10.8, and interestingly the promo images on Apples site show them in caps.

Now this is definitely a 'little thing'!

Or little things that annoy me, like does the horizontal scroll bar in the Finder still cover the bottom item when you try to click on it (the bottom-most item is partially covered by the scroll bar but becomes almost totally covered when the scroll bar magnifies)? That happens to me all the time.

This has always annoyed me too. Seems they've fixed it with 10.9, though. I don't get any horizontal scroll bar what so ever now in Finder. Sweet.

Definitely odd. Here on the stale side ;) it's in caps.

"No" to both. So far, these behaviors are the same as in the past. I'm not an iOS 7 beta user, but so far I don't think push notifications are sent to the Mac yet as mentioned at the WWDC. The underlying service may have yet to go live.

Yes you are right and in the date and time sys pref settings, you can customize am and pm to whatever text you like. Sorry, I haven't got a screenshot but it doesn't work for me even though the preview does. Can you see if it works.

Confirming: app-nap appears to happen when on AC power as well.

Makes sense, i'd rather have less heat, less fan noise and quicker battery charging.

If an app wants to NOT be put to sleep there are criteria / an API for it to not happen.

Haven't looked into the specifics, but there was a brief mention of it in one of the developer docs I've read so far.

confirming - it is in lower case on my install.

which is nice... lower case is generally more readable.
