Can someone PLEASE confirm with me if the CALL TIME (eg. how long you were on that phone call last tuesday) is in 3.0?
That has to be by far the most irritating lack of feature i've seen (yes, more than MMS)

Yes it is. It even will tell you the length of calls on old phone calls as well.

One of the things I SIMPLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND is why I cannot choose my "Sent From" address in Mail.

I have various aliases and would much rather use one of those to send my mail from, i.e. can I use one of my MobileMe aliases to log in to my account? Currently this is not possible.

I only use my main Apple ID address for iTunes etc and don't want spam on it.

Does anyone know if this feature exists in 3.0?

I do it in version 2.2.1 all the time.

smart playlists update on the device now! i have a smart playlist that includes songs with no rating. on 2.2, if i rated the song, it would remain in the playlist until the next sync with itunes. but now in 3.0, it removes songs in real-time from smart playlists if they no longer meet the criteria!

this used to work perfectly with my old pre-iphone nano, glad to see they finally caught up! :D

Not a feature, but in the Voice Memos app, before hitting record, if you tap on the microphone, the VU meter picks up as if you were testing the mic.

tell me about it. i hate it. there is a way to hide it but it just comes back when you install something from the app store or when you reset the device. but to answer the other question, no the stock app is still here.....unfortunately

no i mean i did install 3.0, and my stock app is GONE. I have no stock app in 3.0....anyone else??

I don't know if this has been posted yet but you can now delete notes be swiping left on the note and hitting delete. Or maybe this has always been there but I remember having to actually go into the note and hitting the delete button there to get rid of it.

i only have 3 pages of apps, and i did do a spotlight search. Nothing. Reset my icons ect ect, but to no avail.

then restore your phone again! did you have your iphone jailbroken before this and if you did did you delete the stocks or hide it

Thank god! I wrote a post about this on my blog a while back, how Apple needs to better unify the delete function. It's so frustrating deleting multiple notes in 2.0 because you have to enter the note, then delete and then wait for the animation to end, then delete the next one. I hope they'll give us an "edit" option as well in Notes.

Same thing happened to me over the weekend. I had categories installed on my phone with games in a folder. After unjailbreaking, my icons were gone. A reset settings fixed the icons (eg. made them reappear on springboard). But this did reset my wifi settings, all my general settings, screen brightness, you know, reset my settings :)

Same here. It simply disappeared.

One other app that has disappeared but can be found via Finder is Free Memory. Mine was JB before updating it to 3.0.

I have read somewhere the 3.0 does not "restore" the phone it just updates so I dunno.

that worked perfectly, thanks a million for the help

I noticed when a ringtone has a long name and is assigned to a contact instead of cutting off the name of the ringtone it just makes the text smaller

i wish they did this with songs names, or at least scroll the longer song names. especially when you have songs like "You Be the Anchor That Keeps My Feet On the Ground, I'll Be the Wings That Keep Your Heart In the Clouds".

I think I found a new feature - as far as I know, this wasn't in 2.x, but I could be wrong.

Now, when your iPhone is in the restore screen (the picture with the USB cable and iTunes logo), there is a small info button in the bottom right-hand corner above the "slide for emegrancy" slider. Tapping it shows your iPhone's IMEI and serial number.

thats been there for a while!

When you put the iPhone in a accessory dock (in this case an iHome), the volume slider is removed.

SMS: Second Alert on/off

I'm not going to read through all 6 pages but I'm happy that they finally offered an option to turn off the second SMS alert.

It was so annoying to get that second alert when I heard it the first time. I'd have to go and check because it sounded like I got a second message. If anything, they should have a "reminder alert sound that is different than that of receiving a message.

iPhone 3.0 fixes this: it allows you to turn off that second alert. :)
