If you have an address in the notes field of a calendar appointment, the address is highlighted like a link. Tapping on this link, takes you to maps automatically and searches for the address!

That's cool, but why doesn't it work in the "location" section - the most intuitive place for you to put an address. Oh well. I guess I'll have to cut and paste them all in the notes section. It's better than nothing.

iCal colors match and using copy and paste reformats text in email

The iCal colors now match on your iPhone as well. Brown = Brown, Blue =Blue etc.. Genius!!

Also, if you Copy and Paste from any html text source into the Mail program it will then continue to type in whatever font and format you pasted.

That can be a little annoying.

Voice Memo

Not sure if this has been noted.. seems a pointless 'feature' BUT when you are in voice recorder and you 'tap' the mic image on screen the VU meter pulses (as if you are tapping a real mic) Pointless?

I haven't seen it posted in THIS thread, but "hidden feature" number 354643321

Encrypt iPhone Backup and has a box to "change password"
I don't remember hearing about this from WWDC video but it is floating around in a couple other threads on this forum

EDIT: MAAAANNN!!!! it REAALLYY drags the "backing up iPhone" down to a crawl, it's going on over 3 minutes for me and it doesnt look like it's at the 50% mark yet

When you're on the Slide to Unlock screen and you double click the home button it shows the Artist, Album, and name of the song. I know it did this before, but before it just showed the song name. Now it shows everything!

Not sure if this was posted already, but there is a new UI for using the camera in 3rd party apps.

My power button is horribly broken so I can't get a screen shot...but...

1) Noticed that the pop-up iPod control says what "device" your sound is playing though... "Dock Connector" "Speaker" etc
To reproduce, go to iPod app, start a music song (not a video), then hit your Home Button once. Now back at the main screens, hit Home Button twice. While the song is playing move it into and out of the dock connector. The pop-up text will change. This is probably related to the "volume" control not appearing while plugged into the dock connector (as mentioned in the main post) since it's line out and the volume control doesn't do anything anyways when in "line-out" mode.

2) "Trick" the iPhone to play the music part of a music video while NOT in the iPod app screen (for example, place a music-only song in a playlist followed by a music video and while the music-only song is being played hit your Home Button and when the music video starts playing afterwards, only the music portion will play). Now go back into the iPod application. The music video will rewind about 2 seconds and start playing again while it resets the position in the music video's video output. Confused? Just try it. This did not occur previously, the music video would kinda skip a little and then play.

I can't quite tell what it is, but I agree with you that something is different and it looks more clear. I think there is more space between text boxes that are on the same side of the screen. If you type two text boxes back-to-back, they used to be closer together. Now I see a little more space between the boxes.

I think they changed the cursor color to blue instead of black? I'll have to check my wife's pre-3.0 iPhone when I get home...

Maybe that's what you are seeing. A co-worker thinks they also changed the font or font-size slightly. It does look a lot better...

Sorry if I'm repeating or if this was on 2.2.1 (I didn't have it) but I haven't read this. :p

The screenshots when you look at apps in the App Store is different. The layout is different. Much better than the "old" layout, I think. :D

The lists of Playlists seems to have changed it's ordering.

For example...my iPhone now has...

Genius
On-The-Go
Purchased
Purchased on rosj01's iPh...
Music Videos
Stevie Ray Vaughan - In Step
__A Good List
__80s

previously the __A Good List was nearer to the top of the list, and Stevie was way at the bottom.

Not sure what the order logic is...

Video playback - such as like a music video - Estelle & Kanye West American Boy...

The "scrubber" bar which allows you to fast-forward or rewind does not automatically disappear when you start the video. Previously I'm not even sure it was there unless you tapped the video screen during playback.

Seems like a "bug" as it superimposes on the video playback screen. (portrait mode at least).

UPDATE: Played around with this...It "remembers" the last mode, whether displayed or not, on the last video you played and appears/does-not-appear according to what you had last time. Seems different and undocumented in any case...

Video accelerometer now only allows for portrait (with iPhone vertical) and landscape (with iPhone on it's left or right side).

But...if you put iPhone upside down video will stay upsidedown. Previously, it would turn correct-side-up.

Seems like a "bug" to me...

I believe you because you posted a screenshot, but it's not working for me. I start a song in iPod, click the sleep button, iPod is still playing, I click the sleep button so the "slider" comes up and it shows artwork and artist name, but when I double click the home button, nothing changes. It doesn't show the additional info in your screenshot. Mine only shows the artist name up top.

yea, thats up there. i had a screenshot of it as well but my bandwidth exceeded on photobucket so all of the screenshots i took had to come down.

did they remove the power % display next to the battery? Is that only availible on 3GS or was that a beta feature?

you can only toggle it on the 3GS. you can get it on all other devices by jailbreaking, installing numeric battery, then going back to official.

noticed that when a text message is recieved and you do not "Slide to view" but want to look at it later, when you open the messages app it will open up to the latest received message or if your already in the messages app it will unlock to the latest received message

example

if you text person A

then person B sends a text it will open to person B as apposed to person A

you can add hotmail to email

thats a hotmail related issue and could be done on 2.x.x
