Improved international keyboards!

This may not have been noticed by the English users, but the international keyboards now contains national characters directly. No need to press and hold e.g. a to get Swedish å and ä. YOu can see the national characters to the right in the image attached:

Hi guys,

I had the More option in the app store this morning but now I have the Updates button but no redeem button (or an edit button to bring the redeem back).

Can anyone tell me how to get the More option back within the app store (I have the option in iTunes).

Thanks,
Richard.

I see a hidden feature in Calendar is to add Invitees. I do not get that field. Is it only available to Exchange?

Thanks,

Jason

I have the same question! I installed 3.0 last night and I dont have that field in my iPhone iCal.

Thanks for the info.

Sure about that? That was one of my major reasons for looking at a Pre.

I know I could have multiple calendars from a single source, (I have always had 2 Mobile Me calendars - a work and personal one), however I am 99.9% sure you couldn't have calendars from multiple sources, (eg Exchange and Mobile Me).

Either way, the fact I can now see both has made me a happy bunny!

EDIT: You could be right TechFreak85. Found a Wikipedia article which says this from OS 2.0:

Calendar
Multiple calendars supported in Calendar with color coding (desktop colors only preserved if using Mobile Me)
New "Calendar" menu in "Settings"
Push calendar

However, I'm not sure of this includes calendars from multiple sources. I was 99.9% sure that previously when I enabled my Exchange calendar on my iPhone it said it would stop my Mobile Me calendar being sync'd (or something like that!).

Anyway, like I said, a happy bunny here in Oxfordshire!!

i have been using multiple calenders with my iPhone for a very long time.... don't know what you're talking about there.

this is because you cant send emails via the messages app (at least as far as i know). to send an email, use the mail app.

Actually once MMS gets updated you can send a email to people via the messaging app. Before activating MMS I could not choose emails from contact list, but once the MMS was activated, the emails in contact show up when you choose add contact.

On the tip "There is a new iPhone setting under phone numbers in the contacts. It still has home, mobile, work, etc, but also now has iPhone (found by Excellerator)"

This does not work on a non-3G iPhone. The option doesn't appear.
There's a LOT of missing stuff on non-3G phones.

actualy i have that option on my 3G iphone ill post a screenie when i get back from work

My bad then.

I was under the impression you could only have calendars sync'ing from a single source, in my case either Exchange or Mobile Me.

I discovered yesterday I could have my Exchange and Mobile Me calendars sync'ing over the air and can now have them both displayed combined in the calendar.

I had tried it before and iPhone had warned me that using my Exchange calendar and contacts would stop my Mobile Me calendar and contacts being synchronised over the air, similar to this I believe.

- You can send as many pictures as you want in Mail! usually you can mail up to five pics using the 'share' button when u select multiple pics... but if you select more than five you won't be able to share them but you can 'copy' them and paste them in your eMail message body! :D that way you can send as much as you want!!

Custom SMS sounds

Has this been talked about already? Did they enable an option to use a DIFFERENT TONE for SMS received? Although it's funny to see 6 people grab their pocket when you get a text...

I saw that one of the "features" is that the volume scrubber goes away when no headphones are inserted but with my 3G on 3.0 the scrubber is always there no matter what.

i'll go back and post the ones from page 18-20 later. i'm on a, slow, laptop and it's just easier for me to do it from my desktop.

Page 10, post #230, got u both beat. No credit for me though

sorry about that. i must have accidently skipped over it. i'll go back and change it.

Additions that I didn't see but, very well could've missed.

- Unknown incoming calls show the location of the call!

- iPod album art is shown on the lock screen

- Moving applications to different screens is smoother and doesn't re-arrange apps until it is placed.

- Messages has a new icon

- Stocks has horizontal view

- You can now add 20 places to check the weather in the weather app (previous was 12 I believe)

- You can change the default search engine in settings

- You can log in and out of Youtube accounts

- "Find My iPhone" addition in MobileMe preferences

- You can now share a contact

- When adding an IM name it now says "add new instant message"

- Calendar syncs subscriptions

- App Store has a different image viewer to preview what apps look like

- Mail preview loading is much faster

• There is an edit button when your inside a conversation and you can now delete/forward each line in a text just like you would in mail (found by Lakailb87)

I would argue this is not at all like Mail. It would be the same if Mail allowed you to delete/forward each line of an email. Useful? Not to me.

What I want is the ability to mass delete entire conversations from the main Messages list, to me that would be "just like you would in mail" and would also be very very useful.

Keyboard difference

The keyboard letter keys are a few pixels narrower than in the last OS, and the spaces between the keys slightly wider. Im making slightly less mistakes than usual!

EDIT: Having had a proper look in Aperture, this actually aint true. The keys and spaces are the same size (26px & 4px), but the shadowing on some of the letters is slightly different. I KNEW something had changed!

This one's from my wife...

She said that in previous versions of the OS, in Text Messages, when replying to a text, she would hit the "Send" button to bring up the keyboard and then start typing. Now you have to hit the "text area" to bring it up...the "Send" button is inactive until you start typing.

I never did it that way, so i can't verify.

Sorry if it has already been posted, but same new interface when you want to upload a pic to a 3rd party app (Twinkle in this case).

Also, don't really know for sure if it's new, but the printscreens are now stored in my 100APPLE folder on my iPod, instead of my 999APPLE folder.
So printscreens and saved images from the web are now in the same folder, when you browse your iPod on your computer.

I had the More option last night as well and today it is just "updates." Let me know if you resolve this because I haven't seen anyone respond to this as of yet.

Best Feature EVAR

When Holding a link in safari, it give you the option of opening in a new page (tab). I've been waiting for this for ever.

Stocks: The right side of a stock quote, when tapped, used to toggle between value change and percent change. Now it also includes market cap.
