In the Stocks app, when you turn the phone in landscape mode, a large chart will appear. You can then tap and hold with one finger on the large chart to have a sliding value display for whatever day your finger is over.

Also on the large landscape stock chart, if you use a 2 finger pinch like motion, you can compare two dates. It will even calculate the percentage change between those two dates.

• On the App Store, instead of having an updates tab its labeled as "more" where you can check updates or redeem codes. the iTunes is also the same way (found by BMac702)

Mine looks like it hasn't changed. What gives?

Stocks app multi-touch

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I didn't find it on the front page.

If you are in landscape mode on the Stocks app, you can put one finger down on the graph to see the value at that point, or put two fingers down on the graph simultaneously to see the delta between those two points. This was demoed in March, but not much has been said about it since.

I have no interest in the Stocks app, but it might be of interest to those that do

EDIT: Oops, beaten by kbmb by a few minutes. That'll teach me to go and make a drink before I hit 'post'.

Not certain if this was a pre-3.0 feature, but when you head into Phone > Recents > select a blue arrow, you can edit that person's details?

Auto-lock change

In OS 2.x, you had the option to never autolock; this is gone in OS 3.0. Now, only 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 minutes are available options for autolock.

Call history/length

This is the one feature I was really waiting for and Apple has finally provided!

Call History now lists call details including length of the call! :D!

Dunno if this was mentioned. If you go to your Recent Calls and hit the blue arrow to the right, it shows you the length of the call. (minutes not seconds though).

or maybe this was in the previous versions and I never saw it lolz

The Biggest Improvement

Which I have seen no mention of YET,

is the fact that when you are surfing in Safari and you press and hold on a link, it gives you the option to open that link in a new window / copy the link / open in the current window.

THIS is HUGE for me because i always hated searching for something and always having to navigate away from the page that i wanted to keep open, especially since the iPhone doesn't know how to properly cache any page.

Pop-up key options

more keys on the keyboard now have more options when holding them down. "." now has "...", "-" now has a longer dash, quotations and apostrophes can now be curved, quotations also has the option for "<<" and ">>" (found by LoganT)

The curly quotes and angle brackets were in 2.0 (maybe 1.0) along with all the diacritical letters [éèê etc.], but the Period [.] >Ellipsis […] option is new, as is the Hyphen [-] > Em-Dash [—] option.

I wish they had added the en-dash [–] to the period pop-up for people who need (or care about) it.

hey a feature I would like to see is the ability to delete photos from other albums, as well as move photos from the camera roll and place it into another folder on the phone not via iTunes

Maybe it is just because I am on a 1st Gen iPod touch (running 3.0), but I have the option to never auto-lock.

@kbmb (Kevin).

How did you get the screenshots of the highlighted stocks graph (one finger and two fingers)? Every time I tried by holding two fingers on the screen, then pressing home and sleep simultaneously, the Stocks app faded back to default landscape view (pre-finger touches) just as the screen flashed.
What's your secret, or don't you have one?

I'm on a 1G iPod touch.

EDIT: It seems to work sporadically for me if I persist, but I'm still curious if it works all the time for you or if you have magic fingers or something.

Literally, I took about 50 screenshots to get those 2. :p Most times the picture taken would simply be the landscape chart with no indication I had my fingers on the screen.

I'm on a 2nd gen iPod Touch.

**About to End**
the original thread is about to come to an end because you can only have an alloted number of characters in a post and i'm running out.

I'm on a 2nd gen iPod Touch and still have the option for Never. Stock iPod, never been jail broken.

New Capitalizations

The iPhone now suggests the capitalization both Jesus and Christ. (way to be accepting, apple. you couldn't even train it to do that before) :)

smart playlist now update on the device. previously they wouldn't update until the next time you synced it with iTunes. this means that if you have a smart playlist to include all songs with a rating of 5 stars, whenever you rat a song on the device, it automatically moves to the playlist. (found by eh270)

Just FYI, this one isn't new. I've been doing this exact thing (5 stars) for a while, and it definitely updates on the 3G. Using FW 2.2.

This happens because you have Exchange ActiveSync enabled and your IT admins have set a policy disabling the "Never" auto lock option. Talk to your IT dept to see if they'll change the policy (probably not) or disable ActiveSync...

My iPhone 3G (3.0) hasn't changed it's option of never auto-locking since installing yesterday, literally minutes after 3.0's initial release. I'm not going to mess with this option, because I don't want the Setting to change on its own.

I have one question though, where has the "More" tab in the App Store gone? Yesterday, I had discovered that it didn't save the icon arrangement in the tab bar, but now the option to even edit it has vanished. Can anyone elaborate on this issue? Thanks.

This one is kind of a bummer but doulbe tapping the caps button no longer enables perminant caps it just capitalizes one letter and goes back to lower case lettering

yes it does, you have to do into settings to enable it - go to General, Keyboard, turn on enable caps lock
