I love this new feature in the app store

in the app store when viewing an app description, you can now swipe through to view all screenshots rather than having to click to a separate page to view the images.

Fantastic little new feature in the app store :p

Awesome!!! This happens to me all the time! Great fix and great find.

This always bugged me a little bit. While typing on the virtual keyboard, it was an easy mistake to type "fir" when trying to type "for." Obviously "for" is a MUCH more common word to be used instead, so now when you type "fir" it auto-corrects it to "for."

Silly, but very useful for me. I was excited when I found this.

x2. That always annoyed me to no end. Great change. Apple really stepped it up with all these little enhancements that you might not notice but still add to the experience. I'm really impressed overall.

Enabling Zoom

Anyone know if there is a way to enable zoom on the iPhone 3G? They mention zoom (accessibility feature) as part of the 3G S, but it seems to me that this would be something at the OS level unless it needs more graphics power to handle.

Safari Open Link in New Window

Don't recall this being in 2.x, but if you touch and hold on a link in Safari, a menu opens up asking if you want to open, open in a new page or copy.

Open in a new page will be a godsend while browsing lists of things like forum posts while on EDGE...

Happy to hear about the "for/fir" fix (and on occasion I'll appreciate the "duck" fix too).

I've looked through this thread and can't find any mention of this, so I hope I didn't miss it:

If you create a new Note in Mail with rich text formatting, this will be preserved when the note is synced with the iPhone, even down to a drop shadow made in TextEdit. Has the potential to look a little strange with the lined background, but I find it interesting. Editing and adding text retains the formatting, though the drop shadow disappeared when I edited the blue text.

(even if it didn't do this, I'm so happy Notes finally sync - and surprised there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of talk about it)

Thank god LOL was corrected. I always felt kinda wierd saying LOL, but I was too lazy to go back and correct it... *sigh*

On the "recent calls," the calls that have a picture of a phone below them are outgoing calls. Incoming calls do not have a picture of a phone below them.

interesting thing happend i searched for a song using spotlight and clicked it then my iphone played a different song when i went back to the search and clicked the song again it played the right song

That happened to me the first time around. Looks like if "iPod" is in shuffle when you choose a song, it choose a song at random.

Swipe to go to previous menu

You can now swipe to go to the previous menu/window (ie. album, playlist, etc.) when the info/lyrics/scrubber overlay is visible over the album art in the ipod application. Previously you could only do that when the overlay was hidden.

Not sure if this is new to the 3.0 firmware.

But if you are inside the iPod app and listening to music and you are on the screen that is showing the cover art, you can swipe the cover art to the right to go back to the previous screen. (instead of hitting the back arrow in the upper left)

that's always been there... i discovered it a couple months ago

true it has been there since 1.0, but they corrected a bug that prevented you from swiping if the scrubber/lyrics were visible. Previously you had to have them hidden in order to go to the previous screen.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but I noticed today the blinking cursor in the SMS app is thicker, blue, and much more visable. (as opposed to thinner and black)

Spotlight Feature

Spotlight does not let you search by actual phone numbers, birthdays or addresses. However, it does allow you to search by nicknames (provided that you have a nickname for a contact).

An example is my husband, I have his nickname under "CuTe MaTt <3" (what I entered him when we started dating years ago). I searched "Cute" and "<3" and his name appeared under the search results.

Does anyone know if 3.0 finally supports the volume control buttons on the Apple In-Ears?

Thanks in advance!

I found something new that annoys me and I've done my best to keep up with this thread, so I don't think it's been mentioned yet.

I plug my phone in while at work and sometimes listen to the iPod. In the past after a few minutes the screen would dim, but would never shut all the way off if it was plugged in. Now it seems to go back to full brightness whenever the next song starts playing.

It's not a big deal, but whenever I catch the screen getting bright out of the corner of my eye, I think there's something that's wanting to get my attention and it's distracting.

The new international keyboards are having babies with the existing keyboards. To see what I mean:

- go to settings and turn on the Thai keyboard
- go to Notes and start typing something using only your familiar English keyboard (not the Thai keyboard)
- on the keyboard, switch to the numbers/special characters view and press and hold one of the numbers

You will notice that the Thai numbers have sneeked into the popups for the latin numbers. Once you turn off the Thai keyboard in settings again the numbers will disappear.

Something similar also works with the Japanese Kana keyboard. You will have a dozen or so new special characters on the English keyboard if you turn on the Kana keyboard. I don't know if this is new to 3.0, but Thai is definitely new, so there you go. New feature.

PS: Also happens with the Arabic keyboard turned on, however not with Hebrew or Greek keyboard.

You can lock your iPhone while recording a Voice Memo, good for lectures and notes.

As you can see, I have the 3G with the battery percent indicator.

Sorry if this is a repeat....

When in the calculator if you turn it to landscape mode it turns into a scientific calculator.
