'ENDS' label in calendar events list.

Don't know if this is new, but i've only just noticed it. In your list of today's events, if the event started on the previous day and is ending today, it has an 'ENDS' label above it. See attached image.

"Nickname" search function

Something which I find handy (and missing on the previous OS) is that the "nickname" field in Contacts/E-mail/SMS etc now works on the iPhone. For instance I have a large family and on my iMac I could type "mum" in the search box and it would bring up her card. This didn't work on the iPhone however, so I would have to search by name and that meant much more typing and searching. I just happend to type in "mum" today (was on "autopilot" and not thinking) and it brought up her card! Excellent!

Still can NOT delete an individual call number from the call log. We can delete an individual SMS or an email, but why not an individual telephone number? C'mon Apple. This should be a basic feature by now, as is on other name brand smartphones.

Personally I've never once cared to do this. I have never even thought of this to fathom when it would even be useful. Clearly *YOU* find this important, but I would hardly consider it a must have. Point is, why are you voicing a wish to apple on a macrumors forum? This is not where Apple takes suggestions. Apple has a feedback site for iphone on their own website. Go there and suggest!

1) When plugged into a stereo for playback, the volume bar disappears so that all control is given to the stereo.

2) Like iTunes for your Mac/PC, the App Store now asks "Did you mean" when searching. (I think this is new)

Just so you know, in the scenarios where the bar disappears now, previously it would not behave any differently. What I mean is, in the past, even though the bar still showed up, it did not have any impact on the volume if connected to a device that used the line out pins from the dock connector.

Double Tap Capitilization

I just noticed that when I double tap my capitalization arrow that it doesn't go blue and stay on like it did with the 3G. Anyone else dealing with this?

Sorry, BTW, iPhone 3G 2.2.1 to iPhone 3GS 3.0

Sorry again, just found the enable caps lock. My bad.

Just checked mine and it stays on, I have upgraded to OS 3.0 on the 3G

Once agin, idk if it has been said but when you want to move an app from one page to another, as you move it, it wont displace an app on that page unless you let it go.

This is only with the 3GS: when you upload your vid to YouTube with it, it shows this in the video description when you click on "More Info":

Has anyone mention the fact that you can use a two finger tap on a block of text to automatically select the whole paragraph? Pretty sweet.

I haven't seen it mentioned that the new headphones have a slider that prevents the cords from becoming tangled.

Auto-Capitalization OFF now correctly applies to creating new contacts.

I've always kept Auto-Caps off, primarily because I email and text in lower case. Yet, before 3.0, when entering a new contact, I'm pretty sure names were automatically capitalized. (Right? Now I'm second-guessing myself. LOL. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

I'll put it this way: Even with Auto-Caps OFF, I don't remember ever having to deliberately capitalize a person's name in the past, but in 3.0 I'm definitely having to hit the shift key.

has anyone noticed that the voice recording app can work in the background? meaning its not impossible to be browsing on safari while recording a lecture for example. quelle joie!

country table german language

some minor corrections inside country table/contacts app:
inside the country description table they changed the german description from 'Großbritannien' (GreatBritain) to 'Vereinigtes Königreich' (UnitedKingdom) which is politically correct (UK=GB+NorthernIreland).
that means no change to actual addresses in contacts but if you create a new address the new country description will only available.
from this time on you may have different descriptions for the same country inside the contacts file.
(you can change to new description in old addresses -to get all addresses consistent- if you change country to someother and then to the new one - thus forcing a real change at that field).
they did a similar change a couple of months ago (v2.0? v2.2?) by changing 'Vereinigte Staaten' (UnitedStates) to 'USA'.
maybe there are some similar enhancements in other languages too.

Apologies if this has been said before. When you press the home button twice consecutively (first time for a short period and second time for longer) the search function comes up.

I'm pretty sure that's a bug and not a feature.

What I found is a little different: If you use a two-finger tap, the iPhone will highlight all text between the two fingers.

As others have pointed out, this seems to work only for selecting text you can edit (e.g., on a Notes page or composing an email) but not for text you can't edit (e.g., a web page in Safari).

I can select the entire paragraph every time by tapping once with 2 fingers at the same time.
