Sorry if this has been posted before but in mail and SMS you can hold down certain letter on the keyboard and you get different characters for that letter. For exAmple, if I hold down the letter E, I could type the following. E è é ê and so on.

That feature was in 2.0.

Didn't bother to search the whole thread but now you can subscribe to calendars from within iPhone's Safari on Apples website just like you can on a Mac.

Simply go to the Apple download page for iCal (via Safari on the iPhone) and click on the download button for a calendar and it adds it to your calendar on your iPhone.

This is easier than manually adding the url or copy/pasting it in settings.

yes. fill up your last page and put the icon that you don't want as the last one. now move one more icons to that page and that last one will disappear. as far as i know this is the only was to do it.

How do we move hidden icons back though?

I still have a regular 3G right now, and after updating to 3.0, I have noticed that I can open a second browser and go back to the first browser without it having to reload if it is not a complex webpage. In other words, the phone allocates more RAM to Safari (or whatever they have changed, allows Safari to store more data than before the 3.0 update). I have used my 3G quite a bit since 3.0, and I am positive that my phone stores the first page much better now. I suppose this could be considered a new feature in OS 3.0.

It looks like all 8 pages will be cached in memory until the memory space is needed by another app.

When you're low on disk space, it displays a message.

Doesn't look like it's discovered.

When you screenshot something on the phone, it's actually numbered correctly now.

Example, I just screenshotted and the picture is:

IMG_0245

Before 3.0, whenever you have a screenshot, say IMG_0244, and you delete it off the phone, the next screenshot you take would NOT pickup where the phone left off, and instead, whatever is missing, which in this case at 244.

Another example, say you have 001, 002, 003, 004, and 005 on the phone. If you take 001, 002, and 003 off the phone, but leave 004 and 005, the next screenshots you take would be 001, 002, 003, and 006 respectively...picking up wherever there's a spot.

ALSO, it seems the screenshots go into the same folder as the regular pictures now (100APPLE.) Normally, when you screenshot, it would go into 99APPLE.

Seriously I wish I could tell u where I got it from, but it was there when I restored.... I'm still syncing the songs so I might look around later...

Photoshopped??? Why would I be doing that... I got 3.0 .... I would be playing with it not editing some battery % spoof....

I will def post if I knew how I got the battery %

This is probably already answered so forgive me, but the battery %age indicator toggle is in Settings - General - Usage

I have holidays on mine, but only because they are synced from iCal...

Don't know if you can subscribe to calendars right on the device.

I wrote this a few posts above:

"Simply go to the Apple download page for iCal (via Safari on the iPhone) and click on the download button for a calendar and it adds it to your calendar on your iPhone.

This is easier than manually adding the url or copy/pasting it in settings."

I have some questions about text messaging on the 3.0 OS (or 3.1)

First, will MMS (meaning both photos and videos) work when sending it to a different network? Like if my friend has a Verizon phone, will he/she be able to receive them, and vise versa (send them to me) too?

I'm wondering about photo sizes and/or video size and length because usually this is limited or the quality is downgraded in order to to be sent. I don't see a way or method yet on the iPhone to do this.

Second, I'm wondering about this whole 160-character limit on text messages. I have Verizon now, and sometimes I'll create a long (several hundred characters or so) normal text message and send it to another Verizon phone, no problem. They receive it in one large text. Great.

The problem comes in when I'm trying to send a 160+ text to an ATT phone, which I get an auto-reply back that says "non-Verizon phones only received for first 160 characters". Very frustrating.

Anyway, here's my question. I already know sending Verizon to ATT will cause this. Howabout ATT to Verizon? I think what happens is it will break it up into multiple texts for the Verizon receiver. Correct?

OK. So if it breaks it up, that's not as big of a deal as somebody sending me a longer text and I only get the first 160. Will this change because of MMS? I ask because when I send a photo message on my Verizon phone, I have up to 1000 characters to send a message. Perhaps MMS will increase the character limit?

I know I can bypass this (sort-of) with sending it to the phone's email address...but it would come to my email and not a text like I would like. Plus, this doesn't help unless the person on the other end knows to send it to your email. Ughhh...

And finally, whatabout ATT to ATT texting? Does this limit the characters too?

Thank you for any responses. :)

I've read through every page of this thread, but I'll admit, I might've missed some things. The only thing I discovered that I don't think was there in previous versions was that now you can swipe to delete bookmarks in the menu. I did it by accident on my 3GS this morning and then tested it on my second gen iPod Touch with no luck, so I'm pretty sure it's new. :D

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere but I have searched the forums and can't find it. On a recent iPhone advert it shows copying and pasting part of a map from Google Maps. Is this a 3GS thing only? I can't get it to work on my 3G.
