Would it be possible for someone to copy the useful information into the macrumors guides (wikis)? There shouldn't be any problems with size, there. Trying to dig out nuggets past page 24 is an exercise in futility.

Yes, I actually read through the entire thread (since it started), and I didn't see this. If I missed it, sorry.

I just noticed this morning that it keeps the volume settings for two sets of headphone jacks. I had a low volume (approx. 30%) with my Apple earphones with remote and mic, unplugged that to plug in the cassette adaptor in my car, and realized that the volume on the iPhone had changed to the setting I had it at when I was last listening in the car, which was about 85%. Very cool!

That is nice.
It would be even nicer if Apple allowed you to use the headphone jack as a line out, like my Creative Labs MP3 player let me do 8 years ago.

I'm wondering why this wasn't applied to the 2G and 3G. Sounds like something a software update could fix for the older phones.

I had the percent battery gauge turned on when my 3G on OS 2.2 was jailbroken. When I updated to OS 3.0, I still had it, and I have yet to jailbreak under 3.0.

This means the feature is there, at least in the software sense. Thinking about how Apple works, they may have omitted the enabling switch for the 3G, not because the software wasnt' there, but because they weren't happy with the way the hardware reported the number. Perhaps it doesn't reflect the real value faithfully enough so Apple just removed the switch.

Dunno if its been mentioned (not going to read through 37 pages to check)

But if your sending a SMS text and the signal drops, a red circle with a exclamation mark inside appears next to the failed message and tapping it gives you the option to resend.

Had this happen to me today thought it was pretty cool

the battery % meter from J/B seems to go, if you do another restore then set up as new iphone tho. I still had it after my initial update to 3.0 (i restored from backup) But after a second restore and rejailbreak then set up as new phone, the numerical battery meter was gone.

battery percentage

with the 3gs.. you can switch the battery % by going to settinngs, general, usage..then just switch the bastard on..hope that puts an end to that

What do you mean?

I plug other speakers into my phone headphone jack all the time and it works just fine. Of course it isnt a great fit with some since the jack is a bit recessed in my 2G but it is a minor issue. A little bit of renovation to the speaker jack and all is good.

I dont use the givin Iphone and iPod headphones. Those suck and i always get different ones. I have skullcandy that i use the most and Creative are good too. I have my Phone plugged into my Creative speakers to my computer a lot when im on the internet.

The Maps app now shows street numbers for every block.

the battery percentage

I thought that having the battery percentage was a feature in 3.0 but I can't find it anywhere, am I mistaken or just stupid?

ChrisN

I found % in settings, general, usage,at the top of usage is batt % on/off

I would like to see this feature

I don't how many of you have this problem but when i'm sending a sms and i'm typing really fast sometimes i hit the SEND button by accident. I would like to see a feature to DOUBLE TAP the SEND button to actually send the text. Or i would really really love to have a way to cancel a sms. Maybe tapping the SEND button while the text is sending would cancel it.

what do you guys think?

A cancel button is needed. It's ridiculous that it isn't available.

Don't know if it's a hidden feature, but in upgrading from my 2G to the 3GS I find that the radio interference when the phone's checking email has now vanished.

That's one of the differences between EDGE and 3G. It's not just a 3GS thing, it's a 3G radio feature.

Sorry if this has been posted before but in mail and SMS you can hold down certain letter on the keyboard and you get different characters for that letter. For exAmple, if I hold down the letter E, I could type the following. E è é ê and so on.
