If you type a number in notes (or anywhere with data detectors) and tap on it and hold, it will bring up options to call, text, add to contact and create a new contact... pretty sweet!

By the way, taping it once will ask if you want to call.

Hey... Maybe you're right but I had this iPhone and the same Exchange address from 2.0 and it never removed the Never option. But I also saw that other people (mostly with iPhone 2G) have the option so they can select (also my colleagues that use the same Exchange Server)... It's strange :)

From our OPS guys here at corporate co., they have the option to remove the NEVER which they view as a security concern if your iPhone never sleeps/locks since if you left it at a restaurant or a airport, then someone could get all the corporate data off (by emailing it to themselves, etc). I've temporarily disconnected my iPhone from the Exchange server here (due to a broken sleep button that's continuously push in on my iPhone) and my NEVER option showed back up. Who knows.

1. Jailbreak your iPhone
2. Open /var/mobile/Library/com.apple.springboard.plist in Property List Editor and add "SBShowBatteryLevel" with a Boolean "Yes"

Then restart your iPhone. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then you're not ready for a battery percent indicator.

or just install SBsetting, then you will have more goodies including the battery %, if that baby is jail-broken, of course.

Under the new Messages tab in settings you can FINALLY turn off message previews! I'm sooooo happy for this one! Then, when you recieve a message, it just displays the persons name and "text message."

EDIT: Under the iPod settings you can no longer select the audio book speed? Did this get eliminated or moved?

The iPhone 3g already had that feature. It was under the General Settings.

As u can see by the attached picture there is an icon by the battery that i have not seen in any firmwires before. I'd like to know what it means.

You can shake to shuffle when you press the home screen twice to bring up the playback functions, no need to enter the iPod to do it.

dont know if you guys have said this or not...

here are some search bars on some of the apps.

And when your battery percent is down at 20 and below, the number is red now.

search feature

I really like the universal search, especially in MAIL, it works great.

BUUT, it has ONE HUGE DEFICIENCY!

If one does a search for emails, say from a daily mail providor, and you want to show ALL those emails and DELETE them, you cannot.

In the search results, and even if one goes into the actual EMAIL, the DELETE TRASH CAN is greyed out, and there is no way I can find to DELETE those emails - which is one of the purposes.

One has to go BACK into the inbox and FIND them there, and delete them.

like the majority, couldn't be bothered reading the whole thread and tried to search.

when listening to music with iPhone locked, double tap home button to bring up prev, play, next and vol scrubber, it now displays artist and album name as well as song name when before it only displayed song name.

This isn't a feature, and if I must delete this post I fully understand, but could a jailbroken iPhone user search for the shake-to-shuffle bleep noise and extract it to be uploaded? I'd really be thankful. :)

If this doesn't belong here (which it probably doesn't, but making a new thread just causes clutter) please acknowledge it. :)

OK OK I don't want to be the person asking if this and that is new but I am almost sure this is new?!??

When the iphone is in the Apple Universal dock and you use the remote you can now hold forward or back and it will rewind or fast forward and not just jump to the next track! I like it as I use a hybrid apple/Arcos mount in my work vehicle!

Here you go.

Just read through all 37 pages...I'm a newbie and have a question--can you set the SMS alert to vibrate only, even when the phone is in ring mode?

I've changed my settings to Settings>Sounds>New Text Message>None, but would still like the phone to vibrate only when a new SMS arrives.

To do that, you need a ring tone called "silent", if you don't have it, let me know, I have it, so I can send it to you any time. PM me.

The name of the ring tone say it all.
