Apps not updated for the new 11" will appear smaller than on the 10.5". The actual physical screen size of the 11" is bigger than the 10.5" though - in portrait they are the same width but the 11" is taller. Apps that have been updated for the 11" will fill the screen and appear bigger.

Man 11 is gaining again I wonder if it’s new votes or people changing. One things for sure- 12.9 is steady out of stock. Amazing how many people can shell out so much money for a luxury device. Someone should do a study on credit card debt with this new age of technology feeel it’s gotta be higher now lol

This is nothing new in the US. Everyone just keeps buying on credit. One day it will go out of hand and then......................

That is why have money at the bank is gold. Times are changing.

Just received my 11 inch iPad. Bitterly disappointed as the image is SMALLER by about 20mm all-around than the 10.5 inch model. Chatted with Apple support. First they blamed the App. Amazon Video, BBC News, iPhoto etc then said that there was nothing they could do, just got to accept that this is the case. Sure, they have removed the home button and reduced the size of the surrounding bezel but al this achieved is one has to look at a larger black border around the image. I'm wondering why I have spent GBP1300 to replace the same thing!

Notice how the 11" has a bigger "picture" display than the 10.5 or the 9.7 (obviously). Not sure what you mean by the 11 inch image is "SMALLER" than the 10.5 inch model.

EDIT: I looked at the Apple website:

11-inch:
2388‑by‑1668 resolution (264 ppi)

10.5-inch:
2224‑by‑1668 resolution (264 ppi)

So the 11-inch has the same width, but more height than the 10.5-inch.

Dude, no joke. I started trading stocks on the side to supplement my art about 10 years ago... right before the market totally crashed. Lol. Perfect timing. Made rookie mistake of having all my money in one stock with no cash on the side. Boy did I get burned! Thankfully, I made it all back and then some. I was lucky. But I learned my lesson. Always have cash on hand for a rainy day. Always. Cause another storm is surely coming. And I wanna be ready this time.

I'm no expert... but you should put all your money in iPad Pros. Don't put all your eggs in one basket: get equal amounts of 12.9-inch models as you do 11-inches. Don't just get all 11-inches just because "they're so much more portable for Netflix." Now... buy as many as you can, and store as many as will fit in your laundry room. They really hold their value well for, when in a few years, you put them all on eBay.

You're welcome.

It’s funny I have spent the past two weeks trying tondecide between both sizes and still haven’t. I also wonder if I should go with the new one or buy a 10.5 and save a lot of cash. I am coming from an iPad 4 so going to notice a massive difference.

To those who made the jump from 10.5 is it worth a few hundred dollars more?

Lol. Yes! Buy buy buy! Diversify! Get one of each iPad! More more more! Seriously tho, buy Apple(aapl) stock. It’s down over 20%. Good long term bet. It will bounce back. Heh heh heh.

View attachment 805629 Sitting here debating this as if I’m choosing between two cars or houses or some sort of life changing decision. Read through the thread multiple times. Talked to people at the apple store. And have come to the realization that there’s no ‘right choice’. We win either way. Both are killer devices. Both are portable (truth).

For me, this is a portable device that I will be using in public areas. As of this second, I’m leaning 11 because I feel like I have a little more privacy. The screen on the 12.9 is amazing, it’s big (comparatively) and I feel like more people are looking over my shoulder or worse, sitting next to me reading the script or email I’m writing. Admittedly, the same could be said with a 13” mbp, but agin, I feel like the 11 is just small enough to make it harder for peeping toms.

One pet peeve I am experiencing on the 11 is the placement of the Face ID camera. When I swipe up to open, my right hand seems to cover the camera most of the time so I have to consciously move out of the way. I’m sure over time muscle memory will kick in.

For now, the 11 is pulling ahead. Hope this pic helps someone.

It does feel like such an important decision, doesn’t it? LOL. I’ve had my 11 since launch day, but I’m about to exchange it and try the 12.9 for a week or two.

So many decisions!

My brain says to buy Apple stock because it's an asset surely to make me money in the long run. But my heart says to buy the $1,799 iPad Pro 12.9 at 1TB because it has 6GB of RAM instead of 4—even though the only thing I ever use my iPad for is YouTube and browsing rumors about next year's 2019 iPad Pros.

Probably gonna go with my heart.

New iPad Pros probably not coming until 2020 if you go by the 1 1/2 year update cycle. So put that money in Apple now. By the time the next iPad Pros are announced in Spring of 2020, you’ll have enough to buy one with plenty to spare for other fun stuff. Heh heh heh

I purchased the 12.9 and loved the screen but hated how it felt in my hand. I knew I wouldn’t love it when I start using it for school next year so I returned it and got the 11. I’m glad I did while the screen size of the 12.9 was amazing I prefer how the 11 feels in my hands plus I also have a MacBook Pro so if I need something bigger I can use that.

^Ditto. It was such an easy decision for me.
Ordered a 11" and love it. Went to the store to see the 12.9" and I knew the right choice was made. :apple:

When it’s this hard to decide, I get the best results by going with my gut and not looking back. Easy to say, hard to do, but making a decision and closing the book on all the rumination on pros and cons helps me enjoy what I have without regret.

Bought the 11", tried the 12.9" for a couple of days and went back to the 11". The 12.9" is the right choice for if you want to not have a laptop at all. But if you have a laptop, the 11" just makes much more sense to me. It' a better "iPad" in your hand and if that is your primary use for it the 11" beats the 12.9".

You're fine taking notes on the 11?
