Bought the 11", tried the 12.9" for a couple of days and went back to the 11". The 12.9" is the right choice for if you want to not have a laptop at all. But if you have a laptop, the 11" just makes much more sense to me. It' a better "iPad" in your hand and if that is your primary use for it the 11" beats the 12.9".

I agree with this. We own a video/design rig, a 15” MBP and 2 iPads (2018 iPad Pro and 2018 iPad base) and primarily use the iPads as secondary, portable devices. For anything work intensive, the MBP gets picked up every time, otherwise we use the iPads for couch surfing, watching stuff around the house, writing message, travel, and some integration of some light workflow.

If you’re able to, get both sizes and just use/experience them yourself for a week+, then just keep the one that fits your needs.

As Guys here from Hong-Kong have been saying Apple is very Biased Allows this 14 days no questions asked and all Money Refunded Policy Only in U.S and Europe. Sadly I cant take advantage of it. I just have one shot, and have to take it Precise one. No Exchange, No Refunds after that. Period !!

I think since we all carry our phones with us, the concept of the iPad being portable is not so much of an issue.

if we want something quick to use one handed- i have my iphone.

If i want something larger, i'd go with the 12.9 iPad Pro

This is exactly my thought.

Phones are coming out big nowadays. Check out the iPhone Xs Max. Next year Samsung will release a foldable phone which can turn into a mini tablet.

If you put an iPhone X’s or iPhone XS Max over the iPad Pro 11” you will be able to make up your mind easily as to which iPad Pro to get.

You can’t really compare a 6.5 inch phone to a full size 11 inch iPad but to each their own.

Why not? You are saying you can’t get work done with a 6.5” phone?

I am replying all my messages from my iPhone XS Max.

I also check am my emails for work through my phone every morning and reply many of them too.

They don’t call these smartphones for nothing.

Yes no returns in HK. Once bought whether box is opened or not, you can’t return it.

Apple has no trust in customers in HK. Wondering how we are trusting them. Lol.

Apple will make more money quickly if they stop accepting returns in the US for the first 2 months.

Everyone will be eager to buy and there will be no waiting and long delivery dates.

Also for Apple no repacking costs.

Wondering how many returns do they get daily?????

That’s unfortunate; sounds like you’ll be spending a lot of time at your Apple Store and will be living vicariously through our experiences until you decide what’s right for you.

Is it really? the weight feels much closers to me with the smart folio.

It’s lighter for me as I don’t use the smart folio. When I go to work I plug in a keyboard. I don’t want to carry that with me in a case.

My 12.9 is out for delivery , woohoo

Can’t wait to see a nice big screen again , this air 2 feels so constricted

Dude you started this Movement, This Revolution ! I mean this Thread lol !! You have to make a right decision after laying this foundation here.

It is like the #Metoo Movement, which has swept across the world. From U.S to Australia From Europe to Asia and Africa ! Everyone has joined the Revolution !

The 11" Might be restricted but is more Practical and Real to use. The 12.9" is like the new Macbook Air 13"

I read through this thread every day or so, still find it a pretty interesting subject. Kind of amazed at how close the poll is - as of this moment its 379 & 380.

Wow , this thing is amazing!

The biggest difference for starters is the amazing built in keyboard in safari , massive improvement over the air 2

Nowhere near as heavy and cumbersome as my previous pro and set up was hilariously simple , just used the old air 2 and hey presto like magic !

Very impressed so far :apple:

Hi there!

My vote is for 11". I have one ready for pick up at the apple store. I'm thinking that 12.9 is too large for me, but who knows if I change my mind after my visit to the store :p

It has been a tough decision.

Yes the 12.9” is big. I agree.

But if you compare the 12.9” model to thus years model, you will appreciate the new 12.9” model even more.

After using the first generation 12.9” model for 2 years, the new model actually feels perfect and the 11” model small.

It’s my thought. Everyone feels differently about the models.

Ok. So after hovering in this forum today I have finally picked up an 11” from the apple store today. That’s after having a good play with the 12.9” for the past 12 days. I’m a teacher so I use whiteboard apps (Show Me, EE, etc) a lot - particularly when I go out to tutoring jobs. I also use Notability, GoodNotes, when important Exam Papers (pdf) and annotate them. But I mainly use the iPad for my own entertainment (web browsing, music, Netflix, YouTube etc) and occasional Reading (iBooks).
These are my impressions
12.9”
+ Screen fantastic for whiteboard
+ Not too heavy
+ Full webpages in Safari
+ 4:3 aspect ratio seems nicer for writing

- In bed the screen size is overwhelming
- Can be a little cumbersome when someone else in the same bed is tossing/turning. Often dropped it.
- Considerably more expensive

11” (Only played for about 2 hours)
+ Much more portable
+ Lighter and not cumbersome to hold one hand - doesn’t make hand tired
+ Still able to watch Netflix YouTube comfortably

- A lot of the apps I use (SHow me, YouTube etc) still not updated and black borders - ugly
- The screen in portrait when writing on it seems narrow (almost like Surface Pro)
- Websites seem to load in mobile mode - not full pages like on the 12.9”

In context, I do have a MacBook Pro 15” for the bulk of my work such as planning etc - so at the moment leaning towards the 11”. I have initiated a return on the 12.9” already -but I have a feeling I will miss the screen estate. Still unsure what to keep!!

I thought the Screen on the 11" in Portrait Mode looks better, In Landscape the screen looks shorter although it appears a little elongated in Landscape mode when compared to the 2017 10.5"

I agree 100%. I feel the 12.9” is better in landscape as it’s too cumbersome in portrait. The 11” is better in portrait as landscape makes it too short in height!

I look forward to coming to this thread everyday just to see the numbers. 11" up 383 to 380 now. Incredible and a testament to Apple that they've created two perfect devices for people of varying tastes.
