11" is fine for notes. I've used field notes and moleskin notebooks and they aren't very big. The 11" is even a bit bigger.

Perfect size for a digital notebook. Even though it’s overpriced I think the standard folio and pen are a great combination. Just works.

I returned my 11 today and picked up the 12.9. (Sadly, everywhere around here is sold out of the 12.9 ASK, so that will have to be delivered.)

Right now, the screen feels enormous. But so did my first plus phone. I'll give it a week or so and reevaluate then.

Bought the 11 on launch and just returned this week. I could not get the 12.9 out of my mind. Got lucky and even though I stock now showed none in the 256 cellular anywhere I decided to settle for the 64gb, but when I got to the store I had my choice of color even in the 256gb. This was Apple store and salesperson told me they don’t show up online because they want to have in stock for store sales. Anyway, I am very happy with the 12.9 size and glad I made the switch!

Exactly. The 11” is actually bigger than an A5 sketchbook, so it’s perfect for note taking. Sure the 12.9” is the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. But note paper is usually written on a desk. I would argue that the 11” is actually better for a walk around notepad that you can take notes on while standing and holding in one hand.

For clarity, you typically used field notes and moleskins for school notes? Where do you go to school...camping school? I kid, I kid.

I understand the fantasy, but who takes notes standing up? Tablet in one hand, Apple Pencil in the other. Honest question: is that a common usage?

I was certain that the 12.9 I purchased a week ago (replacing my 2nd gen 12.9) was the way to go until this thread intrigued me to try the 11”. After 24hrs of using both, I’m surprised to say (at the moment) I’m actually preferring the ergonomics of the 11”.

I imagine that there are some scenarios where having the larger 12.9 would be beneficial, but for me it comes down to this... would I rather have a device that I want to hold or have on the keyboard case. Right now, holding it feels more comfortable . This is bizarre for me as I tend to always go for the larger screen with my tech. I’ll spend another few days and make my decision.

Did you give honorable mention to the videos you took those screenshots from?

That is not the point, I did the hardwork to scout through the sea of videos available on YouTube and then come and post it here. So forget about the videos but as far as the effort and hardwork of posting it here. The effort is all mine and the credit should go to me. Don't take the credit away from me. I deserve it more than you !!

Yup, I’m an odd ball. Lol. I do take notes standing up sometimes. But I also use my iPad to sketch while traveling, so yeah sometimes I will sketch when standing up too. I guess I was trying to say that the 11” is better for holding in one hand and using the pencil in the other. That you don’t have to have it in your lap or on a table. So in that regard, I think it’s more versatile than the 12.9” for note taking. Although the 12.9” obviously has the edge in regard to size, the 11” is certainly big enough to take notes on, while small enough to use one handed. Just something to think about.

I know you are a 11" camper and a strong supporter of the 11" do you really not think 11" is not tiny to watch videos, photos, website, Does it not look all too cramped on the 11" ? Sure it is no brainer the more bigger screen the more it is going to be fun doing all the above on the 12.9". Funny it is that so far I was if the philosophy that 9.7",10.5" and now the 11" was the perfect sweet spot which does not compromise so much of viewing experience and at the same time is extremely handy and manageable. But all this went for a toss the moment I saw 12.9" Now I am in serious dilemma !!

I can’t believe the numbers are so close again. It was looking like the 11 was going to fall far behind.

I think since we all carry our phones with us, the concept of the iPad being portable is not so much of an issue.

if we want something quick to use one handed- i have my iphone.

If i want something larger, i'd go with the 12.9 iPad Pro

You can’t really compare a 6.5 inch phone to a full size 11 inch iPad but to each their own.

I see people commenting on getting the 12.9 because of videos, etc., and I understand that, though I don't think the 11 is unwatchable. It's always surprised me the number of people that watch a ton of videos on their phones--now that seems small!

So Guys I today also checked out the 11" iPad Pro. I am a little Bogged Down, Underwhelmed looking at it, Well Yeah I mean it does not bring out the Wow Word or feeling at the first look. But then gradually when it tries to sink into you, You kinda realize that it makes sense. It is extremely light, and Portable. I would not say that the Viewing experience is extremely bad on it, yes it is smaller as compared to the 12.9" But the 11" device as people have been saying here, is more practical in all aspects.Carrying, Using, Portability etc...I agree if someone is just gonna watch Video and is just gonna use the Keyboard Folio along with the 12.9" iPad Pro it makes sense, But when I tried to use it single hand yes, It did get a little uncomfortable after a while and I wanted to keep it down on a table or something. With the 11" that feeling is not gonna come very soon. I think Sanity will Prevail with me And I think I will go for the 11" though a little reluctantly and unhappy. But I am hoping the 11" with More and More use gradually as I start the Journey will eventually wow me !

New iPad Pros probably not coming until 2020 if you go by the 1 1/2 year update cycle. So put that money in Apple now. By the time the next iPad Pros are announced in Spring of 2020, you’ll have enough to buy one with plenty to spare for other fun stuff. Heh heh heh

I think new iPad Pro will be released next year in October.

All models will have 6gb Ram and 10.5” and 9.7” iPad Pro will be discontinued.

All iPad Pro will not have home button any more.

My prediction.

I purchased the 12.9 and loved the screen but hated how it felt in my hand. I knew I wouldn’t love it when I start using it for school next year so I returned it and got the 11. I’m glad I did while the screen size of the 12.9 was amazing I prefer how the 11 feels in my hands plus I also have a MacBook Pro so if I need something bigger I can use that.

Nice decision if you already have a MacBook. Many don’t have a MacBook so 12.9” is ideal for using as a MacBook replacement.

Bought the 11", tried the 12.9" for a couple of days and went back to the 11". The 12.9" is the right choice for if you want to not have a laptop at all. But if you have a laptop, the 11" just makes much more sense to me. It' a better "iPad" in your hand and if that is your primary use for it the 11" beats the 12.9".

Yes. If you have a MacBook or laptop get the 11”z

Fun not the. 12.9” has more use as you can use it also as a MacBook replacement.

After all the iPad Pro is probably faster than the MacBook anyway.

If you’re able to, get both sizes and just use/experience them yourself for a week+, then just keep the one that fits your needs.
