Somebody can tell me how is the 12,9”’s keyboard on the screen? I want know if it is more conmfortable with two hands.

It is a strange question but i will use ipad in the bed and i can’t use the cover’s keyboard.
Thx

Definitely a more comfortable keyboard as it’s larger and mimics a full keyboard. Though not sure how comfortable that is to type on in such a manner while laying back in bed.

However the one thing that always bothered me on the 12.9 is the lack of split keyboard where you can hold the iPad and thumb type.

It's nice to see so many people taking to the 12.9 this time round, for years it seems like nobody wants it. I ordered a 11" and was debating whether to send it back for a 12.9 since i already have the 10.5, but I suspect I will hate bringing it out when paired with the Keyboard Folio, which will put its combined weight to over a kg. I already think my 12" MacBook is too heavy, so 1kg for an iPad portable setup is a no-go.

Stick to the 11”. You’ll love it once the app developers fixed the full screen issue. It’s so light that it’s an absolute joy to use. I’m lying down on soda typing this with the 11” right now. Can’t imagine doing the same with the 12.9

That's where my head goes. I do love the 12.9 screen, I could even see myself having both one day (12.9 for desk, 11 for everything else), but I don't think I'll ever find it comfortable for couch/bed use, which is about half of the time I am using it.

I'm undecided as well.
Ordered the 11" but thinking of going to the store at 10am today to see them in person, get the 12.9 if I like it better and return the 11 when it arrives.

I had a 12.9 and while the screen was great it was a pain to travel with, used a lot of desk space, always felt in the way.
The 10.5 has been perfect but the considerable reduction on the 12.9 is making me rethink.

Has anyone had a chance to see both in person?

I’m typing this now on a 12.9. Could not use two hands either side. Semi touch typing like a normal keyboard

Buy the 12.9, trust me. I have it right in front of me right now. I had my serious doubts concerning the portability, but it‘s seriously just perfect. I can‘t state how happy I am with my purchase.

Typing this on the 11” iPad. Coming from the second gen 12.9 this is truly a joy. Loving the size and that design, WOW. Anyone on the fence about this size, if portability is your number one deciding factor this is the one for you.

I had doubts myself as to whether I should go for the 11" or 12.9". That was until I went to the store and tried out both. For me the 12.9" is definitely the right choice. Somehow the 11" looks really small when compared to the 12.9". The 12.9" on the other hand doesn't look and feel clunky at all like the previous model. You really feel the weight difference when compared to the previous model and the size just feels right.

My advice, if you doubt between both sizes, go to the store, try them both out and you'll easily find out which model you'll prefer.

Went to the store, did that, and still could not come to a decision. The 11" is in a box in my living room now, and I have the 12.9" in my Apple Store cart.............

Does it the 11" really look tiny in front of the 12.9" as people here are saying ?

Just spent some time with both sizes in store. I walked up to what I thought was the 11" only to realize it was the 12.9". Really kind of blew my mind how much smaller and lighter the 12.9" felt after using the 2017 12.9 for the past 17 months.

I do have to say though, when the iPad is sitting in the keyboard folio, the 11" feels so much more manageable for carrying around. But man, that 12.9" in person was just stunning. I was a bit torn on size as I never liked how unwieldy the 12.9 has felt for casual use, but the new 12.9 is just incredible.

On the 12.9 (and 11 I believe as well), an app that isn't updated for 12.1 and to take the home indicator (small bar for swiping at the bottom) into account, it'll end up with the app just slightly shrunken and a thin black bar on all 4 sides (mainly to house the home indicator on the bottom and the status bar on the top).

Waiting for my 11” to arrive. I have the old 12.9 and this was the issue I had. While I loved the screen it just didn’t feel portable enough to me.

There really is no perfect iPad. The best way is probably buying both. 11” for ebook and use in bed, and add folio for trips and holidays. 12.9” for every other use around the house, and add folio for desk work at home.

I have both on order. Picking up 12.9” from Apple after work, my 11” should be arriving by ups later tonight.

I’m coming from a 2017 iPad, so not sure what size is going to be good.

I have a 13” MacBook Pro, but I rarely use it. Which is why I’m leaning towards 12.9

Tried them at a store today. It’s a noticeable difference for sure. The only way you could decide is figuring out what you need it for and comparing in person. I’d take the large one for drawing.

Edit: changed my vote

I wonder if this will keep going and in three years there will be a thread talking about how “everything less than the iPad 15 inch seems tiny“ :D

I wonder how long until they make like a 20 inch+ one that is meant for your desk..
It seems like artistic uses would love a ton more screen

I'd say of course the 11 looks smaller, it's a lot smaller overall. There is no way around that. The decision comes down to how you use your iPad, do you like it at a desk primarily? Go with the 12.9. Do you take it on the go a lot? Do you prefer couch/bed use? Probably the 11 inch is best. They are both capable and can definitely be used in either scenario, but that's how I think of it when it comes to an early decision.
