At the moment I’m using my 13PM naked with a MagSafe wallet on the back to rest on. Will probably do the same with 14PM. I do occasionally use a silicone case in a harsh environment.

I've gone naked for years. These phones are just too damn pretty to cover up!
The last couple of models are really tough as well. The steel surround used to scratch just by looking at it, but the 12 and 13 are very resistant. Mine have stood up to a few drops as well.

I always found my phone would get scratched more in a case anyway one a few specks of dust/grit get in there.

always a leather(ish) flip cover. already ordered one for my 14pro that looks suspiciously like the one thats on my XS now.

First day with my 13pro, no case, it fell out of my bag from waist height hit the asphalt and shattered the screen. First phone I’d ever broken! Same day I get home and the damn phone was on my seat and I slid out and it slid with me hit the ground… shattered the back! Would love to go case-less but now a little nervous. Strongest glass ever uh huh 🙄 series of unfortunate events. I tossed it in a drawer and bought a new one thinking that one was bad luck lol

I have always used a silicone case and a screen protector. I often drop my phone and until an iPhone that is not impacted by falls comes around, I will continue to protect it. That said, I noticed the iPhone Pro’s have some sort of ceramic on the screen. I am not sure how good the scratch resistant protection is. Anyone knows about this?

I never considered this. So just a screen protector? What about the rear glass? Are there protective coatings for the back camera lenses too?
The lenses are supposed to be sapphire and I've never seen a single micro scratch, let alone any damage there. I like the front screen protector as a sacrificial layer, as well as being replaceable once the micro scratches are there. I don't think I would be able to see micro scratches on the rear glass, but it for sure could be broken. If I was more clumsy, I would use a case more.

Every phone I have ever gotten has come out of the box and gone right into a case. I started using screen protectors after finding micro scratches on my screens in spite of being super careful. With the deep purple color, though, I might opt for a clear case.

Applecare+ is great. But phones are expensive. I don’t want to pay more to get a replacement and once I have a phone that I know is working well, I don’t want to have to deal with a new phone and putting it through its paces and having to return it again if something is wrong with it, etc… Instead I would just rather protect the investment I made.

First time going without a case. Got AppleCare this time around.
Always wished I could use the phone without a case.
Got a screen protector for the front.

used to go naked. Did it for years. Then broke my phone more than once and got a case. Since getting the case I seem to have become more clumsy and keep dropping the phone. It’s survived every single time.

How much will apple care fix if dropped? Just the front / back glass, or will they replace the stainless steel as well? I would love to go caseless but if I drop it I am curious how much AC will replace…

Always some kind of case cause that phones are slippery…
I have the same issue. I don’t even like holding someone else’s phone if it’s not in the case because it just feels like I’m going to drop it. A case gives it some grip.

Also I drop my phone quite a bit so even though I have AppleCare I don’t want to go to the Apple Store once a month to get a new phone. That would get expensive.

Always with a slim case, to protect against light hits.

E.g.for situations like when i go sit on the bowl, and wear shorts with wide pockets with the phone in it. The phone tends to lightly hit our stone floor. When the shorts goes down, it halfway falls on the floor, and hits the corner, without a case it would get light marks.

I gave up buying cases to avoid bigger fall damages, the phone always finds a way to become trash. Once i had one of those super protective rubber case, the phone stayed intact, but the screen lamination inside the phone under the screen glass went/peeled off when it hit the floor.
Your doing it wrong. Take phone out of pocket before sitting on the bowl to use it while doing your business duh..

I did naked on the 12 pro but this time I got a silver model and I've heard that the stainless steel sides scratch easily so I got a RhinoShield bumper case to go with it.

Good point about debris in the case causing scratches. Do you use a screen protector and/or have AC+?

My understanding is that AC will replace front and back glass for $29, and other damage is $99. I’m not sure if scuffs/scratches on the stainless would be considered replaceable damage. I think the damage has to prevent usage of the device.

For anyone that has experience with AC, please chime in. I haven’t used it myself, so no experience with it — but I’m planning on getting it for my 14PM (either straight out or monthly).

Always naked. Get AppleCare+ if you’re worried, and don’t stress over it. It’s just a phone.

I had my 13 Pro Max accidentally knocked out of my hand onto a concrete floor at a concert twice in one night, and it is still in perfect condition, much to my surprise. It’s quite solid.

I used to get Apple care, but haven’t for years and hate screen protectors. I think it’s OCD, but I can feel the difference and they’re more noticeable with no case.
I tend to upgrade every year now and have always got full value, even with some scratches and scrapes, so stopped worrying about it. I was much more protective when I held on to phones for a few years.

Like I said, I’m really impressed with how much more resilient iPhones are now.

Ive AC+ on an ipad and they gave me a new device for a cracked screen (which didnt prevent use) Scuffs etc would possibly be considered wear and tear rather than accidental damage.
