So why cant they jailbreak 3.1.3 yet. anyone know what they did differently? Guess I should just just upgrade..

The USB exploit which was used to jailbreak the 3GS was patched in firmware 3.1.3, just like the 24Kpwn was patched in the 359.3.2 bootloader. Someone will need to find a new exploitable weakness in the bootloader.

or RRRize you can get a goPhone plan with AT&T, which is like a prepaid plan and then you can use ur iPhone and G1.

My story,..
Original 3.1.2 fully shsh backed up iphone was stolen.
Went to apple store..
Paid 499 for a 3.1.2 new iboot which I have unlocked!
But it has the new iboot and made me sign a new 2 yr contract.

Went to craigslist bought a used 3.1.2 unlocked old Iboot, but reset all user settings not knowing I would loose my OS and PWN. Rookie mistake. Cost 600 bucks.

:(
Now I have 15 days to return my iphone. to apple.. maybe they will jailbreak 3.1.3 by then

That's a lot of money for not having a tethered jailbreak. Honestly a tethered jailbreak isin't that bad. All you have to do is run blackra1n if you have to reboot. In my case I got a replacement phone yesterday with the old iboot :)

Hold on Im so confused on all this now... if I do a new real firmware update with itunes. Then can I jailbreak that or not
?

I got lucky. I just bought a 3G on Craigslist which was restored to factory settings and updated with 3.1.3 firmware. I set it up on tmobile without even knowing all this about not being able to unlock with the new baseband. Turns out the phone I bought it originally from New Zealand and is factory unlocked. Kind of off topic but reading topics like this make me happy I got the phone I did. Even though I paid $400 for it.

Not QUITE true!

If you have a 3GS/New Bootrom w/tethered JB, but do not have your SHSH on file, you live with th "sword" constantly over your head that something might happen that requires a firmware restore, thereby losing your JB and Unlock.

Clearly your phone was still pwned. You could have done the same thing without Umbrella and TinyTSS, just using the Apple server to sign it.

holy freaking crap dude are you serious!!!!! omg!!!!!!!! wow you just came up with a new way to downgrade!!!!!!! your gonna be famous!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe ... maybe not..
But its the first I have seen of it "?

all because of your firmware...! :)
We should write a tutorial no?

No it wasnt pawned..
Least I dont think
TinySS just tricked Itunes into clearing my firmware as I extracted the shsh file from apple itself with umbrella..
(your very negative)

But hey maybe im wrong, try it yourself

No, no, no. You cannot, under any circumstances, install a custom firmware on an iPhone that is not Pwned. SHSH or not, an unpwned 3GS will refuse to accept a modified firmware. Please do not go around telling people they can install custom firmware on unpwned phones, you will create huge headaches for everyone.

OK, I'm in the same exact situation Magas was earlier.

3.1.2 with 5.11.07 baseband and stuck in the loop forever.

Working on extracing the SHSH via umbrella now...but how do I get that custom firmware? Can anyone PM the link? :D:D:D

You create custom firmware yourself by using the PwnageTool.

Woe! Okay, I'm gonna give this a shot... I think... if I can figure out what you actually did. It's worth a shot, especially in my case where I have to wait for the jailbreak/unlock of 3.1.3 anyway.

Don't worry latinist, I am not putting 100% faith in that this will work. Just giving it a shot is all.
