I just Googled your error message. I think you can safely ignore it. At the end of the createpikeinstallmedia script, I added a check to identify the machine and the amount of RAM in the machine, I use the command line version of system profiler. My intent was to warn the user if the machine is a MacPro and it has less than the recommended 12Gb of RAM.
For some users, this use of the system profiler seems to have issues. Since it's just a convenience check, it can be ignored.
If you want to help me out, please let me know what version of Mac OS X you were running on when you ran createpikeinstallmedia and what model of Mac....
Hello aoshi2012,
Okay, that's serious. The script has done everything I expect it to do, and reached the last step which is to use the Apple-provided binary executable (program, or app depending upon your age!) called createinstallmedia.
Something in your environment is causing the error. Can you detail your hardware platform and post it here.
MacPro 1,1 or 2,1 (or some other Mac)?
Have the CPUs been upgraded?
"Bad CPU type in executable" is odd. It generally means an old PowerPC type executable with no hybrid Intel binary part (also known as fat binary) or vice/versa.
Are you running on a PowerMac G5?
If your Mac is running, go to the Apple menu (top left), choose About this Mac, and maybe click 'more info' or 'system profiler'.
Where did you get your copy of Install OS X El Capitan.app from?
That's your problem - Hackintosh - You have a Mac so need the genuine version from the Mac App Store. The version you have has probably been messed with to make it work on a PC. You may need a supported Mac to download the Apple version as it will report your Mac isn't supported. Once you have it, follow the instructions as before.
Mac App Store is the best route. I don't know what OS version you have at the moment, but if you don't have supported Mac you have two very straightforward options:I see, would anyone know a good source to download El Captain from?
Have you tried logging out of your Apple account and logging back in? Not sure why it would throw this message as it is a free update and I have never seen this before. Are you running Boot64 (or similar) as this will protect the boot.efi files from being overwritten although whether this may happen appears to be dependent on which version you are going from. What version are you currently running? The other update available on your screenshot is for iPhoto which doesn't run in El Capitan so I am confused as to why it is being offered as an update. I assume you are trying to download the El Capitan Update from El Capitan?
Have a look here - there seems to be a similar issued that is caused by iPhoto being installed which caused the same error you are seeing...

Be careful if you have lots of pics in iPhoto still.
THANK YOU!!!Boot64 allows an update without overwriting the boot.efi files - more info here #1391
Some have reported updating from 10.11.5 to 10.11.6 works without using it so you may be OK without it. I have it installed and have updated several times without issue. If you read back a few pages you will be able to see more reports of updates to 11.6 and if any problems encountered. Good luck.
Strictly speaking, the pikify install method prepares the machine for Boot64, it is not pre-installed you still have to install it.
The steps to modify SIP to exclude the boot.efi files from SIP's protection are in place if you use the pikify method to install.
If you don't use the pikify method to install then you need to perform steps 1-4 of post 1391 (as well as all the other steps) when installing Boot64.
that's Apple's Gatekeeper protecting you.THANK YOU!!!

Just wanted to use your Boot64.v3 to protect the boot.efi file before updating from 10.11.5 after upgrading from Lion, using your pikify version 8, with the help of your video. (works perfect! Thank you!!!)
So now I got an error "Boot65.v3 cant be opened because it is from an unidentified developer" View attachment 642057
Okay guys, I read the info on page 1, and it looks like Macvidcards is out of the cards that they have in stock. What part #'s work for Apple handoff? BCM94360CDAX is the one Macvidcards sells, but will a BCM94360CSAX work? It looks like I have to stick either in a cheap mini PCI-X adapter. Am I on the right track? Really wanna get handoff working on this system.
