What Airport Card do you have in the box ? Afair BMC94311 and or BXB6 blocks USB on El Cap Mac Pro 1.1

Hello
Thank you for your interest and sorry for delayed reply.
I tried to search on system profiler but I can not find references. I searched on network> wi-fi and I get this feedback
Software versions:
CoreWLAN: 11.0 (1101.20)
CoreWLANKit: 11.0 (1101.20)
Extra menu: 11.0 (1121.34.2)
System information: 12.0 (1100.2)
Family IO80211: 11.1 (1110.26)
Diagnosis: 5.1 (510.88)
AirPort Utility: 6.3.6 (636.5)

I do not know where to look for the type of card

Well, I'm sure like many, I wound up here as a result of the 2018-001 update.

I had acquired this mac 1,1 running El Capitan and had no idea why the latest update hadn't been done (STUPID!)

Determined to get the machine operational without having to reload an OS, I decided to follow @rthpjm 's advice on thread #3896.

However, being the minorly noobish type, I thought... since I've backed everything up, what's the worst that could happen if I took that hard drive, threw it into an external SATA drive box on my 2015 MBP High Sierra, and manually moved the kernel (Litterally drag and drop) from the 2007-005 update (extracted via Pacifist) and then ran the command line in terminal ON that drive with @Inspector42 's touch command (and for entering drive letters on each command I litterally dragged the external Hdd to the command line and it would manually populate the correct path)... in this case I dragged it's S/L/E folder after the word touch. I didn't have to Sudo or SIP or nothing. Threw the drive back in and boom, all my programs work. Right back in business!

Quickest test is to remove the two screws and pull it out carefully. Isolate it and test. The antennas are not too easy to connect so just for test unplug it.

Hello, sorry for the delay in replying.
Reading here and there, in the forum and in others, it seems that they are "kext" files or something similar to change.
But I have not read anything safe to dare to do something.
I hope and trust in some better indication.
I confirm that:
- with another hd with lion partition, the wifi and usb ports work
- putting in bay 1 only hd with elcapitain and doing pram reset, reset smc does not change anything anyway
- I confirm that 'elcapitain and the apps that I installed are fine, no other anomaly goes, including ethernet with which I'm communicating with you.
I thank you all and wait for some ideas, lighting

I have a Mac Pro 1,1 running 10.11.6 (recently downloaded). Everything works great except iCloud Drive is not syncing, is there anyway to fix that? If not I'll just create a Fluid App and use the web version I suppose...

iCloud works pretty well on my cMP 1,1 to 2,1 with 10.11.6
Do you have two factor authorization?
Hi Flygbuss,
Yes I do have two factor authentication. It's also worth mentioning the fact that the only part of iCloud that doesn't work is Drive itself... Photos is syncing, iTunes as well, but I can't see my files in Drive oddly enough.

Sorry, but could it be the graphics card? I removed the original one and installed it
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB

Everything peachy, just noticed the permissions on our files differ from the originals.

Does it matter, are they worth changing, how would one go about that?

Thanks guys!

Let me get back to you, ICloud Drive works flawlessly on my machine, i just get some errors regarding backtomymac but this might be connected to the feature itself since it’s no longer supported.
Does the drive show up at least?

It just continually says that iCloud drive is "setting up." Thank you for the help.

I didn't see any mentions of devices being trusted or not, it simply listed which devices I have.

It says so under the Serial Number if you go to the ICloud pane (Account Details, Devices) within System Preferences.

Just wanted to add, two factor authentication is working on the Mac Pro, I tested it when I logged into iCloud.com

Okay, that‘s good. In the iCloud pane when you click options behind the iCloud Drive, what did you check? I left everything empty now just for testing and it works. Stuff like shared desktop is not supported in 10.11. I think that started with Sierra or High Sierra.

Do you mean when I get to iCloud drive from system preferences? Or on what particular device should I be attempting to find this from?

U.K.
Can someone upload a bootable 10.11.6 backup image, which I could use for my 1.1 with ccc?
Hello Machac,

It’s so much easier if you actually do the work for yourself rather than asking others to do it for you.

So long as your MacPro has a working copy of Mac OS X (Snow Leopard or higher), then you can download a copy of Install OS X El Capitan application directly from Apple, then use Pikify tools (there’s a script-based version or an App-based version. They both do the same thing).

If you’re MacPro is bare because you recently purchased it of EBay for example and it was shipped with blank hard drives and no installation media, then your u might need a second Mac.

Page 1 post 1 outlines the Pikify method of installing, as well as the “use another Mac” method of installing.
My Pikify tools are located at page 56 post 1390 of this thread, links in my signature below...

If you really want a disk image, there used to be another thread with one. Do a search....

I already tried the second Mac method but I cannot find the second boot.efi file because the usr folder is missing.
