No! There is no Tiamo version of boot.efi that supports Yosemite. Mine only!I think the Piker-Alpha's efi don't boot in target mode or external usb case. The Thiamo efi work fine with 10.10.

sudo chflags nouchg /Volumes/(Volume name)/System/Library/CoreServices/boot.efiHow do I overwrite it?
My GTX980 works fine with both 30"....
I agree, why skip the third spot... you'll be sorry. Time Machine backups aren't any good if you don't have a base install of the exact TM backup you're trying to reinstall. Or that's my experience anyway. But I agree, best investment I've made is buying a drive dedicated to nothing but TM.
sudo chflags nouchg /Volumes/(Volume name)/System/Library/CoreServices/boot.efi
now you can overwrite it
and lock back:
sudo chflags uchg /Volumes/(Volume name)/System/Library/CoreServices/boot.efi
If the HD name is actually two words like "Volume Name" won't they need to know how to deal with the space?
i only have one issue doing what you are telling me , my video card 5770 is not flash so i don't getIn your Terminal:
$ diskutil list
(locate the Recovery HD identifier - disk1s3 in my case)
$ diskutil mount disk1s3
(then open the com.apple.recovery.boot folder - the boot.efi is in there)
When you're done you can either unmount it via the Finder or in the terminal with:
$ diskutil unmount disk1s3
Restart your Mac with with Command-R. When you see the OS X Utilities window, go to the Utilities menu and select Terminal. Then type this without the $ of course:
$ csrutil disable; reboot
...and you're done. Your mac will restart with SIP disabled.
got two monitors hooked on my 5770Do you find the original Mac Pro can make use of the horse power in the GTX980? I have a Radeon 5870, and I was under the impression that even that card was already not able to really get going at full speed due to architectural limitations.
And that's exactly what I have done i clone my drive . Seems a lot are having issues after replacing the recovery HD efi.If not, a CCC back-up is perfect. Probably good to make one and store the drive away somewhere--maybe take it out and update every so often.
ok i see it won't work because am running el capitan on a mac pro 1.1 ...in other words on a hacked OS.Unfortunately that's not possible for a 5770. http://forum.netkas.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=3ghflhgc40r9oquam5461mtvlcf2ln3t&topic=692.0
