I removed that card afterwards, sad thing is that i don't see the initial bootscreen but i ordered a couple of GT120 512MB from MacVidCards so that issue will be gone i hope.
So does it work with the card installed?

Yes, quite an oddity. The Mezzanine card seems to have no affect on whether or not Yosemite boots up, just the PCIe card. Yosemite will boot from both a working install on a drive bay and the SFOTT key with JUST the Mezzanine card installed, but won't boot Yosemite with a PCIe GPU, regardless of whether the Mezzanine card is there or not. The result of the boot depends on the card I have installed. Both result in an incomplete boot, but if I have my Radeon 6450 installed, the boot just hangs at [PCIConfiguration Begin] and with my GeForce 405, it just reboots at that same line.

I'd like to say that this is just a project. I'm perfectly fine running Lion on the Xserve. It does everything I need it to, but I know that the end to security updates for Lion is upon us, and that I don't like.

I have Mac Pro 1,1 with an Apple-bought GeForce 8800GT. I upgraded from 10.7 to 10.10 flawlessly using a patched USB flash drive installer, and everything is up and running fine. However, I used the PikeYoseFix patch, rebooted, and updated to 10.10.2, and now the black Apple logo screen's progress bar stops at about 25% and it just sits there forever (with the mouse cursor present). I can connect to the machine via AFP fine, so it seems like some system services are up.

Any ideas what might be wrong here?

Use verbose mode to see where it stops.
P.S. After script installation you need to reboot twice before updating to 10.10.x. Launch daemon isn't active immediately. It needs 1st reboot to load and 2nd to execute commands it contains.

Can you use screen sharing and verify?

No, screen sharing is turned off.

Use verbose mode to see where it stops.

I am using verbose mode, but the black Apple logo screen with the progress bar takes over and it stops loading at 25%, so I can't see what's happening. I started up in single user mode and checked /var/log/system.log, but nothing interesting shows up in there.

I'll reinstall 10.10 and try rebooting twice before installing 10.10.2.

By the way, after installing 10.10.2 the machine suddenly reboots near the beginning of startup (after some text has spewed in verbose mode) and then continues normally the second time until it reaches the 25% progress bar point.

I'm using pre- patched dmg found here, cause using sfott, i get kernel panic at boot

If you are using the pre patched installer both of those files were already on the DMG. I used that installer dozens of times and never got an error of any kind.

Try creating an 8GB partition on an HDD and restore the image to that instead of using a USB drive.

I Also tried it using a 20gb partition in my hdd. I'm trying with sfott again, and creating boot with clover

2006/2007 Mac Pro (1,1/2,1) and OS X Yosemite

Someone has solved it installing kext in mountain lion, so i should try it

Mountain lion is a completely different story. Besides not having a driver I don't believe the GMA 950 supports OpenCL.

On another note, using the pre patched installer did you add your board ID? If you didn't it might explain your problem since you never mentioned that you were not doing the install on a Mac Pro. The pre patched installer was only setup for Mac Pro 1,1 and 2,1. This thread is dedicated to the Mac Pro and Xserve.

You will have better performance and stability sticking with Mt Lion. MacPostFactor only supports Mt Lion for GMA950 Macs.

The guys pushing those apps like to make it sound like GPU support is "right around the corner". It has been "right around the corner" for a couple years now.

The cMP is only Mac that can run Yosemite perfectly with the simple swap of a GPU. This is why having PCIE slots is a wonderful thing and why the nMP will have a much shorter useful life than its forebears.

hello ive got a problem with installing yosemite on macbook 2.1 (late 06)

ive tried using the prepatched .dmg file but my system doesnt recognise (doesnt see) pendrive and when im trying to boot from disk partition the installer says that the system is already installed.

some people had the same problem and you adviced them to install with sfott but i cant download the installer in .app format from appstore (i dont have any other mac to do it). the only thing i found is the image in .dmg format. could you be so nice and upload it for me somewhere? :(
