@Nick [D]vB
The ROM is doing the same thing my own modded ROM did where once modded it will freeze on the EFI screen and not load Legacy OS's. This was why I had both a EFI copy of windows 10 and a legacy copy. I had to use a EFI copy to flash back before.

So over an hour of Youtube video viewing in 4k and no reboots, I think the card is stable now.

Hi all.
I’ve a mid2011 21,5 iMac with upgraded K2000m video card.

Since Mojave was all ok.....

With Catalina I have had some trouble to install SO. Resolved with cloning from external ssd to internal ssd.

But.....something goes wrong....

Random reboot....

Random Shutdown.....

Now.....nothing....

Boing.....and then black screen.....

Few tries and PRAM reset to boot in HS in the first partition....

Only one time I’ve reached the os.....

Then shut down.....automatically after few minutes

Yesterday I’ve dismounted the lcd panel to view the status led.

Only LED 1 and LED 2 are still on.

I’ve also replaced the PRAM Coin Battery with a new one.

Nothing......

Do you think the K2000m is dead?

The last try is.....replace the video card with the AMD stock .....o_O

Hello
sir I am new. I just buy the 765M and 780M card for my Imac 2011 27 inch, I installed my 765M card and 780M that I bought on ebay but There is no display. You can give me the Vbios to have the menu start and display please.

Thank you
Best regards

HI all,
i ordered a K2000M for my 2010 iMac 21,5 - can i use the new graphics card without flashing the rom?

Best Regards
Chris

If you install windows in UEFI mode you get instant boot (bootscreen shows without pressing any keys) by selecting the drive using the bootcamp control panel (don't install windows using bootcamp assistant). You must disable the intel HD graphics in device manager or windows will crash trying to load the driver. You will also need a DSDT patch to fix the HD audio, I posted that link about 20 pages back but if it's too complicated I will try and make a registry patch you can use instead. I've been away this last week but I will get back to iMac testing soon.
@Nick [D]vB Confirmed working, I followed the DSDT patch guide and now I have Audio on an EFI booted iMac. I was also trying to fix error 12 with my 780TI EFI flashed EGPU, will reboot and try again in a bit.

This is on my 21.5" 2011 770m iMac.

EDIT: After a lot of different drivers, reinstalling and uninstalling I still have an ERROR 12 with my 780Ti I have video output on the card, it's just not accelerated. Will try an 970 EFI card with my 770m to make sure it's not an issue with 2 Kepler cards fighting over the same resources.

With a 1050ti (of course not EFI modded) I have both cards working just fine in Windows 10.

Hi all,
I put a K1100 2GB MXM-A from HP laptop in my old Mid2010 i3 iMac 21.5".
The card is working fine under Sierra OS. Is there any modded ROM for these cards too?

So, I got things being delivered to me. Namely the card (GTX780M - based on the description it should be from Dell Alienware) and the CH341A programmer. Still waiting for the heatsink and the copper plates so that I can go on with the changes. I have a couple of things I would like to ask.

From how I understand this as long as the card is Dell it should not require flashing, but just to be prepared if I need to flash using the programmer, I want to confirm the position of the eeprom on the card. (see the pictures) The eeprom looks different from the previous posts - very fragile as well and there is not much clearance to put the clip from the CH341A programmer.

For the programmer, I need to know the type of the eeprom (and based on what I can read seems to be 25xx). Can someone confirm as the text on the eeprom is hardly readable but after magnifying, it seems there is MX25L200GEZNI written on the second line)

There seem to be plenty of small soldered dots on the backside of the card that will be placed below the heatsink clamp (see the picture). Is this something to be worried about and to avoid short circuit should I use electrical tape on the heatsink clamp (as shown in some of the previous posts)

Hi guys,
would need your help please. I get weird dumps out of ROMTool, totally different than the one pictured in this thread - see pictures. The machine is a 21,5 iMac late 2009, on my 2010 27" iMac it is working like it should do. ROMTool takes around 5 minutes to dump the rom on the 21,5, while on the 27 it comes after a few seconds. Any idea what this could be?

as far as I know, 21,5" Core 2 Duo 2009 is not supported at all.
Only 27" intel core-i iMac models from 09.

Thanks

This card does not seem to have a standard 8-legged eeprom chip to me.
So a standard CH341A Eeprom clipper wont work with that chip.
Maybe it's a HP card for example.. ?

As far as I know, Dell/Alienware GTX765/770/780 cards all have a standard 8-legged eeprom chip onboard.
Correct me if Im wrong of course.

Anyway, I think you might be able to flash the vbios of that eeprom using nvflash for example..

Flashing with nicks custom vbios is always recommended anyway ! ;

I was afraid it will be the case. I tried the clip on the programmer and it holds but I doubt I will be able to connect to it. I am going to attempt that later today anyway. From what I was googling on the specific chip, based on the description it seems it is the one that can be used as eeprom. Also that is the only one on the card that can potentially store the vbios. I think the card might have been modified by the seller and is probably not an original one from Dell.

What about the backside and the clamp?

Hi,
There is a Rom available from Nick, See the First Post

that's not the modified bios that's just to get the card working with macOS but you still won't be able to get a boot menu since there's not a modified bios yet

Your best case for this situation would be to create a proven working EFI windows 10 install on your iMac with original ATI card, enable automatic login and use something such as team viewer. Then with the iMac apart and only with the w10 drive installed attempt to boot it and login through a VNC.
Used this method many times after experimenting and bricking my card a few times.
Use https://github.com/timsutton/brigadier for the boot camp driver's.

Hi Florin,
does this mean I cannot swap the old card against a for example K200. Or do you mean just modding the bootrom and the vibes does not work?

Hi,

I think and pretty sure at least the EFI bootrom mod from Nick wont work with a 21,5" C2D 09 iMac.
Correct me if Im wrong of course.

The Quadro K2000M might work, but I dont know and not sure about this.
Perhaps this question has been asked here before in this topic..
I dont know anymore, but you can try search for it.. ;)

perhaps my Win7 winclone image might also work for him..
It worked for me btw..

This way you can restore Windows 7 with winclone, withouth having the need of doing a blind install.
My win7 winclone image has RDP enabled by default.

Thanks, highvoltage12v and FlorisVN.

So programer clip does not work on that chip.

And I figured as well that I will have to install Windows to flash, so the problem I have now is the lack of optical drive (which is broken anyway), so I am currently researching on how to get Windows 10 working around the boot camp assistant. I want to go Win 10 since Win 7 is becoming out of support from Jan.2020, and I will keep it as it will become handy in the future too. I created the partition so far, downloaded the drivers from the boot camp assistant on one USB flash drive, and I used unetbootin to create another bootable USB flash with Win 10...

If I continue like this will Win 10 be installed in EFI mode? Is there a particularly important step one should be careful about?
