Hi @highvoltage12v,

I am using a GTX765 in my 27" so I guess that won't help.
Plus I am a Mac technician owner of an independant repair shop but not really used to OpenCore yet even though I plan on using it more for unsupported Macs.
Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.

After some testing it seems my CPU fan slot is toast. Replacing parts to get it working for sure is just a bit too pricey for this project, so I’m unfortunately bowing out.

If anyone needs a Wx7100, 20 gig of ram or other spare parts, drop me a message.

What if you splice the wires from the CPU fan onto the HDD fan? So you can control the speed of the fan using the HDD fan header(you can remap the CPU heatsink sensor to the HDD fan using Macs Fan Control).

I made one a few days ago, mine's need some trimming/sanding to fit but it works really well. I'll drop it here and maybe save you some time. ;)

Please despite the GPU in the images, it's an HD7970m which I couldn't make it work...

I hope it helps someone!

Hi! Are you sure the 3d model is correct? I printed this out(using the stl file), but its smaller than it needs to be:

Btw, how do you guys advise us to handle future macOS system patches/upgrades?
It really depends on what Macs Apple plans to kill next. They can kill Macs all the way to 2014. (Kepler Nvidia Macs, then we're screwed) You can test the next Mac OS just by having the "No-compat-check" command in NVRAM or after creating the next USB stick, removing platformsupport.plist. Not sure how far we can take the hd3000 Kexts into a non supported OS.hopefully we still can.

In terms of software updates the easiest way I am able to accomplish this is to just create a new Dosdude1 installer and run it, but just have another OS available you can rewrite IOsurface kext available, and rewrite the permissions.

I should also add doing 10.15.3 update via Target Disk Mode is possible and easier, and allows you to rewrite the IOsurface kext while booted in Mac OS.

Can anyone link me to the hardware mod for the backlight diagram/layout for a WX7100?

And been hunting for confirmation but remember reading somewhere that you don't need to modify the heatsink for the WX7100 correct?

if we are lucky, the nvidia kexts will still work in future macos releases.
And if a dosdude1 patcher still works, perhaps we are safed.

if not, we can always change to compatible amd cards now.. 😉
But we indeed might loose airplay/sleep mode due to hd3000 kexts, who knows..

i also think that perhaps catalina is one of the last releases to support nvidia kepler.
But who knows..

I don't believe anyone has tested that particular card, but it seems to be based on a GT 330M. That would be quite slow and would NOT support Metal, so I would caution against using that card, especially when supported cards like the K1100M or similar are relatively inexpensive.
Although the value is very good, I will not buy. To invest any amount, just be sure. Thanks!

stick with known working cards, and stick with cards that have a EFI vbios rom is the best !
if you cannot find info about a card you wanna test, then you can test yourself and share your result here..

I have no experience with the Quadro Fx880m at all, but I always stay with known working cards.
This way I know it will work 100%, I would advise you do them same.. ;)
It is true! The only certainty I have is that the GTX 770m works. I didn't even get a GTX 660m to work (although I already read some information somewhere that works). The best thing to do was to have a fixed topic with a list of the GPUs that actually work.
I would love the GTX 660m to work.

I have 2 2011 27 "iMacs, i5 and i7.
Thanks!

For iMac 27" 2011

What is this procedure for on the iMac 27?

Great, thank you.

Where did you get that wire that you soldered from? and old power supply?

You can get a 6 Pin PCIe power cable extender, its the same connector. You can do the mods in that cable, so you don't need to cut the original cables in the iMac. Non-destructive solution :)

* sorry, my mistake this is only to prevent you from cutting the wire, but you still need to solder the other one one. So yes, its easier just removing the wire like @=TheONE= said

Hello everyone, I upgraded my iMac 21.5 2011 to i7 2600S and Quadro K2100M GPU
Updated BIOS video cards from Nick[D]vB
Everything works fine, I just noticed a strong heating of the power supply in normal tasks.

Proper brightness control will help massively with the heat output. A fix via bootloader is in progress and will hopefully be released soon.

Please use fan Application to increase fan speeds for the PSU. I see mine getting as high as 70C if not cooled with higher fan speeds.

Can someone tell me what it is about?
If I understand the picture correctly, it's to force enable Backlight when using a wx7100. A nicer way to do this is using a dyinglight module so you can have a range of control through an app in Mac OS.
