I can dump the BIOS, if you guys think that's relevant... I have a ch341a mini programmer, but this card does not have the commom chip for that... Is there a MacOS aplication to save BIOS from the card?

@Jforte so youre saying you bought it from the uk guy?
i just take screenshot from the picture he posted, his name is imacgfx at ebay.
not sure if he's the same person that you are talking though because he's the only listing in UK I can find.

well, i asked him if the card got bootscreen or not, but hes not replying yet. if the card got bootscreen, then it might be worth it if you want to share the BIOS here. Experts like Nick and others can study on them

Just a side note: We may touch some property if we start to download BIOS from business products and redistribute it here. I saw this before when a guy uploaded a BIOS from a macvidcards.com product.

Thank you for this thread.

I put a GTX 780m into a 21.5” iMac ( Mid 2010 - iMac11,2 - A1311 ), Running MacOS 10.12 ( Sierra ). It booted good and well with no problems other than documented no boot screen, etc.

Then I flashed the video card with @Nick [D]vB's Kepler_Beta3. It’s showing the boot screen and loading screen, but after loading up a bit with the Apple logo, the screen shows black. The screen is definitely on, and I can see the 4 logic board LEDs on and good. I used @xanderon’s premade GRML USB to do the flashing.

I tried booting from a Sierra bootable USB, and Mojavi USB and got the same black screen after a certain load point.

It boots fine in Ubuntu btw, and runs like a charm, no video issues there.

Any ideas about MacOS booting?

Specs:
- Core i7-860s
- GTX 780m Kepler
- 8GB RAM
- SSD

Respecting other person's hard work, only if Nick [D]vB confirm that he really need it.

hi guys, i've done some benchmarks with k2100m on elcap and sierra, are those values in range or you get higher scores?

Yes, it could be the case...
Yes, it could. Someone probably spent a lot of time creating that rom. Flashing a dump to an unmodified K3100 would probably end badly, for everyone. If you kill the golden goose then you probably shouldn't expect any more Easter eggs, if COVID-19 does that anyway I'll promise to hit the upload button before calling the ambulance...

;)

@Nick [D]vB could you be more specific on how to mod the WX4170/WX7100 with bios chip, and where to put the resistor(s)?.
i could made a mod to have some test, thanx

I get that Values with my stock Hd4670 256mb now with the K1100m the imac hits the 900 score, this is with High Sierra.

well, to rule out the os i should try to upgrade to high sierra first.
some1 with sierra had some bench to compare?
i see also your k1000m is detected with only 256mb, which version of bios have you flashed?

btw i've done also the bench using valley, and the score much better, but with native res the result is lower.
to have better result i need to low the res @1920 hd (like yours), and i can see the difference now.

Sorry, never thought about commercializing information from this topic.
I expected that this rom could be useful for your research, but looks like you already know all about it)

I use the @Nick [D]vB bios downloaded from here, I don't know why say 256mb

It would be a good question of why only 256mb appears, it is that I have to do the flash again? :\

just finished successful instal and flash of gtx 770m bought from DES global trading on ali

included benchmark comparison with the original 2GB 6970

issues are bluetooth not available and FaceTime camera not working.
camera light comes on. then shows black image then green image then part of a scrambled image
system report shows bluetooth and camera connected

guessing I need to reseat the cable? or maybe its an emi thing?

included benchmark comparison with the original 2GB 6970

EDIT:

was having usb issues as well
took the glass off and patted down the emi tabs
everything works fine now but maybe I just knocked a bad connection in to place somewhere?

A few pages up I posted a config file for open Core that allows 675m/770m/780m to load with faked working backlight control. This also allows you to do things such as Target Display Mode over thunderbolt. Since Open Core can load Kexts on boot you will also have working Die temps with HW monitor, and enable HD3000kexts to load externally to not break software updates.

thanks

I haven't dug in to open core yet but I wouldn't mind having target display mode back for when I'm working on the family's laptops

I suppose if y'all ever get us backlight control on the gtx cards it will need open core as well?

I didn't think I would miss backlight control so much because I generally keep my screen pretty bright but full brightness is quite bright, and pretty hot

Will this card do the job? I wonder because this some kind of chip shield next X-bracket.
Will this thing not interfere installation?

Could you please help?

What Dremel bit / type of file are people using to grind down the aluminium? and what's the basic safety procedure? Goggles and gloves? Is it is soft enough that you can just file it down slowly and safely?
