The attached EG2 bootroms are for WX4170 and WX7100.
Are there any for WX4150 ?

I prefer a boot screen than brightness control.
Can the WX4170 be used for WX4150 ??

OR inject the iMac bootrom and the CoreEG2 & EDID Parser into the GOP vBIOS ?

Would the BIOS chip be able to hold the 1Mb data now or needed to be changed to a larger size chip ?
The 4170 and 4150 can use the same BIOS.

Help please, I've got a weird problem.
I have a late 2009 27" iMac, with graphics card upgraded to GTX860M. I have flashed its vbios in order to get brightness control. My problem is, when I boot into Hi Sierra or Bootcamp, the internal display doesn't work, but the external display does. When I boot into Ubuntu Live USB, the internal display works properly.
Is this a software or hardware issue?
Does your ALT/Option Apple Boot picked menu show up? Installing the patched AppleGraphicsControl.kext on page 1 should fix this.

@highvoltage12v would applegraphicscontrol.kext help with OC boot of Windows 10? EFI boot for windows 10 results in blankscreen for me (backlight is on) w/780M

Apple boot shows up, catalina is 100% with OC

Hi All,

I'm planning to buy NVIDIA K610M or K1100M from HP laptops.

Which one is more stable?
I saw the ROM file for K1100M had "Beta1.2" on it.
(Well, supposedly everything in here comes from experimental stage)

And I assume both cards will support external display (miniDP or Thunderbolt), CMIIW.

Please advise.

Any words will be very appreciated.
Thank you! 🙏🏻

Both BIOS versions have the same generation.

The only visible difference I know of: The K610M BIOS does not offer the internet recovery on boot. The K1100M does. All cards support a single external display, i.e. in the 2011 27" only one port works.

Please start reading on page one and post #1

Seems don't work Macs Fan Control 1.5.8 with iMac Mid 2011 27", lose GPU Heatsink. Any other with the same problem?

Sucessfully flashed, installed OpenCore and full graphics acceleration on WX4150 with Catalina, proceeded to install the AppleGraphicsControl.kext provided by @highvoltage12v to fix the "black boot screen" and after that, openCore shows up again but now gets stuck on apple boot logo (loading bar on 100%) any clue what's going on? I used the kext version 10.15.6 that was on the "AMD USERS" folder, any possibility I could have chosen the wrong kext?

Wait, you had a black screen after using OpenCore and the boot loader? This is ridiculous, the AGC comes into play when MacOS is booting. The Catalina Loader using OpenCore acts before the MacOS boot process.

Yes, I have black screen using openCore but as I said I fixed it and now it get stuck on the apple boot logo , does the fact that I'm doing all this through external display while I wait for the broken LCD cable replacement makes a difference?

Again:
AGC has nothing to do with OpenCore showing on your display before booting.
How can you experience an internal black screen without a display cable?
Can you precisely describe your hardware and software setup and the time line of observations and changes?

And add a signature with your hardware.

Nobody can and should comment on "it does not work" messages.

P.S.:
If you cannot get access to the internal disk via target disk mode you will likely have to reinstall Catalina or load the USB installer and try to fix things from the terminal there.
You did you "install" the AGC?

One last thing... this should theoretically be compatible?

Hi, I've bought my K1100M from Ali (seller 'K-Tech Laptop Accessories Store'), works fine.

Sorry for not explaining myself really well, my configuration right now is a 21.5 mid 2011, WX4150 card, already flashed, did openCore USB and installed Catalina, I have my LCD cable broken and while waiting for replacement to arrive in doing everything through external display, after flashed, installed and ran catalina with full graphics acceleration, card recognized as 4GB Radeon RX 460, everything went well until here ...

Started installing kexts AppleMCCSControl and AppleGVA.framework to get the sleep and after that I got black screen, on boot, even removed internal drive just leaving the openCore flash and everything still black (as I mentioned I'm only using external display, internal disconnected )

fixed the black screen with highvoltage12v method and after that I got openCore back but now stuck on boot logo, I think I'll reinstall everything and start from scratch

What I do not get right now:

You had a black screen issue on your single external display. You managed somehow without a working black external display to install the AGC?

You rebooted then into the OpenCore - no MacOS has been touched then and so not patched AGC can have any influence on the OpenCore boot loader showing up on the external screen - and magically it came back?

Now you see the boot loader and choose the Catalina installation and it sticks at the end of the progress bar, this is a sign of a failed extension installation...

This is how I fixed the black screen:

Removed the SSD and booted with openCore only to check it was booting fine, then installed the SSD, rebooted and BUM black screen again.

What I did is put the SSD on a sata to USB adapter, booted openCore only, just not ssd again, went to the second menu (the one with white background) and from there ordered the computer to restart and as soon It restarted connected the SSD via USB and and that way I was able to boot openCore with the SSD connected via usb, booted catalina and apply the Apple graphic controller kext to fix the black screen, after that I could boot opencore again with the SSD internally connected but now stuck on apple logo

Okay, I am still sure that the AGC was a wrong move at all - it has IMHO nothing to do with OpenCore and it cannot have any influence since you did not even boot into a working MacOS using the AGC.

But to get your problem away you will likely have to reinstall and next time while trying to fix the sleep issue you need eight files to install and the single framework for the iGPU support.

Cannot really comment on your installation problems since you never said a single word about you you exactly tried to install. Since the AGC thing went wrong what happened with the sleep extensions. Ever tried a sleep?

Go back to start and do not take 4000 USD...

I'm reinstalling now, yes I did install and replace the AFC files, sleep extensions too since when it went to sleep the computer stayed ON, just shut of display but fans still on and couldnt wake it up neither, thanks for the time I really appreciate it

I upgraded my 21,5" Mid 2011 (2,7 GHz i5) with a K610M and flashed the new rom which works great.
Internet Recovery doesn't work as expected but I am unable boot the dosdude1 patched Catalina installer,
I get the following when booting in verbose.

I am not using the Catalina Loader (OpenCore) to boot the installer but that shouldn't be necessary correct?
If anyone has a clue to what is going on that would be greatly appreciated! :)

This is off topic, please move over to this thread!

Well, it is off topic but my dosdude patched 10.15.7 installer only booted using OpenCore ("Catalina Loader" in our case).

But you have a AMD card not offering another boot selection, right? On Nvidia based systems you can go both ways although I prefer the EFI boot selection way.

At least we can only offer a work around while @dosdude may provide a solution is a real issue comes up.

Any trouble with the @dosdude1 patcher is off topic! This cannot be the thread of everything.

Most failures with the @dosdude1 patcher are caused because of damaged installers. USB thumb drives are not reliable.

Thanks for clearing that up, I'll try a new installer what do you use instead of thumb drives?
