To get an idea why @Nick [D]vB added both extensions to the Catalina Loader and currently even to the Big Sur patch set please pay the GitHub.com pages of both extensions a visit and read the docs there or the famous first post and the OpenCore section - check out the links!
ah well I can't find rice reference why they included in Catalina loader but I think he added them to avoid black screen if am right?
It's useful to pass parameters in NVRAM to permit hardware HEVC, H264 enc/dec. PolarisBoost parameters are processed by Whatevergreen. Some blackscreen situations are avoided through the use of parameters in NVRAM too.
Whatevergreen needs Lilu to work.
Thank you for clarifying it well I tried to use LILU and Whatever green from Catalina but it caused KP in big sur I will try lastest version when there is for big sur
If you use the micro patcher 0.4.2 calling patch-kext.sh using this command line
patch-kext.sh --iMac --2011 from the booted Big Sur you will get the WhatEvergreen and Lilu installed automatically. You have to disable these on the Catalina Patcher. Currently I do not want to separate the three cases Nvidia, Nivida+Catalina Loader, AMD+Catalina Loader. This is a plan for upcoming versions. There is only one option --iMac and the detection of the card works automatically (AMD or Nvidia).
Nvidia cards get right now Lilu and Whatevergreen
AMD not, since these cards always use the Catalina Loader or OpenCore

Root cause was an older version of the pathed AppleGraphicsControl which caused this error. Deleting Whatevergreen and Lilu was just a work around. So the latest versions of these extensions work fine with Big Sur Beta 10.
But you can simply pull the kext zip rom 0.4.1 or 0.4.0 and use this. Or remove the both as you did....

For v0.4.3, should I just revert the whole zip to 0.4.1's, or should I only revert Whatevergreen and Lilu and keep the rest of the 0.4.2 zip? Guess it was not Lilu or Whatevergreen, it was me uploading an old version of the patched AppleGraphicsControl.kext. Please download this file (do not unzip) and place it into the kexts folder on your USB installer and re-patch, possibly unpatch before.
Hope it works! Installed all files one by one, will do the full install check tomorrow. It is 1:15 am here.
Edit:
1. unpatch-kext.sh from USB in recovery, reboot into Big Sur, patch and reboot worked for me last night.
2. The unpatch script is right now working but missing some lines of code to delete really all iMac patches.

This is the exact info I needed. Thank you! I hadn’t even thought of buying the heatsink from Aliexpress. Like others have mentioned, the only 3 pipe heatsinks on eBay have been around $200. Ali is a much cheaper route. Maybe this info is something that could be added to the first post?

I got a WX4130 from a Dell laptop and got it running on iMac (27-inch, Late 2009), switched the i5-750 out for an i7-860 while I was at it. Now that I know it's working just need to order the SSD. A breath of new life into a machine that has been boxed up in a closet for 2+ years. I don't need any assistance at this point, just wanting to show my gratitude and encourage people to read, read, read, and then do!
I have an issue. I recently installed the AMD WX7100, but the screen is all black. I can hear the Apple boot sound as well as the computer loading into windows. I am not sure if it's a faulty card, I did something wrong putting the iMac back together, or something else. I have a iMac mid 2011 27".

I have the same problem. The legacy windows 10 boot will lockup the iMac. The uefi install will give you no sound and DSDT modification is required to install audio driver.
