Good evening , I am a new user but first of all I would like to thank you all for the contribution to this thread and helping me starting this proect to bring back to life my old 2011 27 imac but sadly I cant get it to work . I bought a nvidia k3100m and modded the heatsink , installed it with thermal paste on the die and k5 pro on the memories , I connected the gpu and reconnected all the small cables but sadly I only get a black screen after the boot sound , the fans starts but nothing ever appears on screen , since I opened it i also replaced the internal hdd with a kingston 500gb ssd (empty) but i doubt that it is the problem , I noticed that on the motherboard only the first two leds light up so the gpu is not properly communicating with the monitor, should I try getting a mini display port to hdmi adapter and try with an external monitor ? I did not flash the gpu before installing it so I do not know if that could be the problem but online it seems like people are able to boot even before flashing it . Thank you .

Boot sound is a good sign that your iMac is working, and you haven't screwed up during the assembling process.
First step has completed.
Next step is to flash the card with vBIOS compatible to the iMac.

First of all thank you for your answers . The thing is that I do not own another device compatible with mxm cards for flashing it and before installing it also I saw some online videos where people install their new gpus and the mac is able to boot properly into high sierra and only after they boot into windows or linux and then flash the gpu with the new bios . I would be happy if i could find a solution without having to teardown the whole mac again. Would an external monitor plugged into the thunderbolt port via mini DP to hdmi work? would the mac even send a signal to the external monitor if the third light is off? Also my k3100m uses these memories "H5GQ2H24AFR" so the bios on page 335 should be the best one ? I apologize for any mistake but english is not my native language and I am fairly new with these "hardware mods" on imac.

Hi Guys
Sorry to repeat my question but I think is as been hidden inside all other questions

First, thanks for the great job and support you 're doing.

My question is simple.
I have a 2011 21.5 Imac CoreI5
I have installed a k2100 since the original GPU is dead
I have flashed it

(something I did in a couple of Imac without any problem)

It works great under HighSierra but I need to keep Lion which is the system installed with programs which are not working on Hsierra
But, on Lion, the screen stay black (But again, if I boot with an external HSierra disk, it works)

Is it a known issue ?
Is there a workAround ?

Thanks again
Angelo.

I guess it's not an issue. It's a feature.
K2100m was released in 2013.
OS X Lion life ended in 2012, replaced by Mountain Lion, Leopard, ect.
Therefore, there is a fairly big probability that OS X Lion does not contain the driver for K2100m => Blackscreen.

Hi Guys, quick question: I upgraded an iMac 11,3 (new CPU i7, SSD, new GPU M6100, new WiFi/Bluetooth, OCLP Monterey) and everything works fine except that it does not recognize an external monitor (via MiniDP). Is it the graphic card or software or some other hardware issue? I looked through the forum but could not find an explanation.

Thanks for your support.

This is axactly what I thought
Do you think K1100M is old enough for lion or should I take a K500M wich is from 2012
thanks again
Angelo.

No, there is no K500 support on this page! Have you even noticed the docs on the first post?

Kepler drivers have been added by Apple starting with Mountain Lion....

Hello guys
I’m asking for the third time, but unfortunately I still don’t get an answer. I have an imac 2010 with a s7100x gpu, I just can’t get the video card driver to work in win 10, the microsoft basic adapter hangs in the control panel, I’ve already tried all the programs and drivers from amd - no result. If anyone has experienced this problem or knows how to fix it, please help.

Off topic, here! Just stop re-posting your problem, you will not force an answer nobody is able or willing to provide.

This is a typical Windows 10 driver installation problem. Card has changed the device-id to run on macOS natively and needs adaption. You can get help on literally any Windows forum here or on third party pages.

Flashing is mandatory!
How to flash? FAQ on the first page and first post, see Q3.
Which vBIOS: Please read the K3100 post @nikey22 made about his card.
Thank you for your explanation , but i have some questions still . Is moving the odd temperature sensor from the odd to the gpu necessary if im not planning to use the machine for heavy work? what bios is the "best" one for k3100 , on the main page there are 3 listed , rom , rom 1 and rom 2 for the k3100 and I do not own another mac to format the usb drive to install linux onto it , can i do it from windows somehow? thank you

- Moving the ODD sensor is optional, but highly recommend, it gives you a fully working fan control with all possible OS versions installed, even during macOS updates and installations.
- Pick the single vBIOS made four your memory type

Please use translation tools (google) to get the posts translated. You already missed most of the thing I wrote/posted.

I am so sorry if i cant seem to understand most instructions and thank you so much for now , I managed to create the boot drive and the boot into it on the imac i guess since the router is giving it an ip adress but ssh into results into "connection refused" and about the correct rom he says that the rom 1/2 are updated version and it should include support for all memory types or am I wrong? thank you so much again
Edit : ok the problem seems to be that the imac refuses to boot from the usb stick , i formatted it on gpt and fat32 on windows , would that be the problem? do i need to format it on another mac for it work?
Edit 2 : the router assigns the imac an ip adress but now attempting to connect to it results in "connection timed out"

In case your display isn't connected directly via DisplayPort but by means of an adapter, you might need an active adapter in order to have it work with your replacement graphics card. The cheaper passive adapters will not work any longer with the new card.

Can this one be used on imac 2011? Query the pcb serial number and find that it is wx7100 but I don't know whether it is ver1.1 or 1.0

If I search the number I get W7170M. Not a good candidate for the iMac12,2 2011. Check out the problems we discovered.

The query seems to be wx7100, but it is not marked ver1.1 or 1.0 and the pcb is still blue

Actually, this does look more like the WX7100. (Especially, the actual GPU die is larger at the W7170M.) Yes, I've already looked at way to many pictures of that card... That said, apart from the blue PCB this card looks more similar to V1.0 cards. But then again, there are V1.1 cards which are very similar to V1.0 cards, while most of V1.1 cards can be easily distinguished from V1.0 cards. The only way to know: Try it (if you can afford it).

Good evening , I would like to ask your help once again , I tried different solutions , i tried connecting an external monitor via thunderbolt and no display , i tried different usb sticks and different routers but whenver the router assigns an ip adress to the imac and i attempt to ssh into it from my pc it always results in "connection timed out" , if i boot from internal drive i get "connection refused" so i belive the usb drive is not booting properly but it works fine on a normal pc, did anyone had this problem before? thank you
Can the process of formatting the usb drive to gpt + win32 be done on windows or it must be done from a mac as the guide says? nothing , I created the usb drive with the folders on another mac but my imac still wont boot from it , it seems.

Hello,
Can someone help/assist me with a thunderbolt monitor for imac (2011 27 i7 2600k dual wx7100) high sierra works all except lcd? latest oclp installed with few macOS

Good evening , i have a question , does the imac 2011 monitor need to be connected back before attempting to flash the gpu ? thanks

Disconnect all internal disk drives and leave this LCD disconnected for simplicity. We cannot resolve your local router/network problems. You need to reconnect drives after flashing.

One can install the same Linux tool in any other (2.5“) SATA SSD or HDD, too. This way you would not depend on crappy USB thumb drives. You can also use your single internal disk in case you do not need the contents. FAT32 format in any case. It is vital to have only a single bootable device connected!
