hallo I have iMac 27 2011 with gtx780 10.15.7, I try 2 monitors but its new models with dp 1.4 and hdmi 2.0, neither one works as second monitor, one small very old work. is an important version of dp or hdmi ???? thanks

Edit1
I changed the cables and the monitor works now, but at maximum fullhd, (hdmi to minidp), can this graphics card produce more output? is better dp to minidp ?
thanks
Hello,

Check your adapter first is it supports higher resolution?

Upgraded my imac to ventura, what should i test? latest oclp. did upgrade from mac os catalina
both thunderbolt ports reporting that thunderbolt device was connected when i try to plug the apple thundebolt monitor - but nothing happened. Also, Command + f2 works via both ports to use this imac as a second display for macbook

Yes, Target Display Mode came back with Monterey and nobody realized it.
Nice it works on Ventura, did not test it....

Ventura has a lot of problems especially on pre AVX2 hardware like our iMacs. OCLP does not support these iMacs, so do not wonder when finding a lot of bugs.

Console app provides logs, OCLP debug version provides logs, but currently we do not want bug reports of unsupported (by OLCP) Macs. Most of them we already know and it is a pain....to see another post ending with "any fix?".
Appreciate your help, but please no Ventura discussion here (it is about the graphics card) or on Discord (unsupported system), check this thread....

Bad things happening ..

Yesterday I was trying to do something with another SSD, but because I was tired, during assembly I attached the display on the iMac very badly. At the morning the display fell, the connectors were damaged.

After re-bending pins in connectors - Fortunately, everything works, except for one thing. GTX780M doesn't want to work anymore. When I turn it on, I have 3 LEDs (disconnected display) and the iMac has a chime loop. After plugging in the old GPU (HD6770M) everything is OK.

What could theoretically happen?

I tried to refit the GTX twice but no changes..

This is the exact reason why I stop assembling my iMacs on standing position.
Now I always place their back on the face of a low table with 360 degrees of open space around.

One small cardboard box to lift the LCD panel high enough so I can reach both my hands to inside the iMac.

Hello,

Is this the camera/BT-connector (see below)? I tried to install the K2000m but still got the problem that only one led is lighting up despite having this disconnected...
Since I could not get the K2000m working at all with my third iMac i7, I decided to try a "bake" with the native card: preheating oven at 200C, leave it there for 8 minutes, switch off the oven and open lid and leave it there cooling down. Mounted the card the next day and guess what? It worked!

Do not know how long this will last so I am still curious how to proceed with the K2000M. As said, disconnecting Camera/BT did not have any effect, machine did not boot, only 2 leds.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Regards

you changed the bios on the video card?

My method for updating firmware was by SSH/Ethernet and boot from USB but since the card prevents booting, I can not flash the bios as I have done with other cards.
I did the same with the card, there is no communication with the board and the diode was not lit, but I decided to try and it was work

I have finally managed to install the vbios¡¡¡

I have used the K3100M BFR rom (my chip are Hynix BFR), then I have reset pram but the screen is still black and any connected monitor does not work.
How do I install the patch if it doesn't turn on the screen by holding down the alt key?

thanks¡
SUCCESS!!!!! Next step Big Sur installation.

I check it this video, what do you think of this system ?

Regards!

First of all, a big THANK YOU to all the people who contributed to this thread. Having the possibility to revive these wonderful machines is truly awesome.

Now to the bad news: I read so many posts from this thread I can't give an estimate, but still... I can't get my iMac to POST with the new GPU :(

Situation: WX4150 on 11,3 iMac
Install the new card with copper plate, K5 pro paste for memory and MX-4 paste for the GPU. Detach the internal hard disks to boot from @xanderon's grml-based usb. After discovering that my ethernet module is fried, I use a usb keyboard to blindly setup a wifi connection. Finally, with an SSH connection I flash the WX4150_GOP vBIOS after saving the original one. Reboot, PRAM reset and... black screen.

Now I know that I can't get the boot menu since I don't have OC installed, but I would expect to see the grml usb printing stuff. I have tried to flash other vBIOSes, specifically the ALT version from @internetzel's post and the WX4130 GOP and ALT (thinking that maybe they sold me a different model), but after each round of: blind wifi setup, flash, reboot + PRAM reset... I get the same black screen.

Did I do something wrong in the process? Can I try something to see if the problem is the card itself? I am starting to think it could be defective and not as new as advertised.

Here is the result of the first flash of the WX4150_GOP.rom:

Code:

No, you need OC to switch on the backlight on boot to see at least something.
Check the first post for the known issues with these cards and High Sierra. Double trouble....

P.S.:
If you took these pictures before testing the card yourself I would guess it was not really new. You might see the difference in color or the gold MXM slot contacts. The first approx. one millimeter is darker than the rest of the contacts. A sign it has been plugged into a computer/slot before. New cards have equal colored contacts
