Yes, I will upgrade from my 10.5. Being my main computer, I will likely want to keep getting the best available. It doesn't end up costing much from a financial perspective. I will likely sell my 10.5 for $500 and end up spending about $200 to upgrade. No home button, Face ID, screen improvements, and a new design would be selling points for me.

I still use my 2015 12.9" Pro and Pencil every day... it works great. I'll admit I'm curious to see what happens next year. I'm hoping something similar to what was posted earlier, about a new one being more like the design of the iPhone X. I'd upgrade for that.

Oh and I wish they'd release a half-sized Pencil that would work on both the Pro and the iPhone X.

As long as it continues to play Netflix and Youtube I'll keep using it.

My family still uses a 1st generation iPad for internet, Netflix and youtube. If it can still work then I would assume I'll be good to go with my 12.9" iPad Pro for at least 5years

Still say no. I need a new Mac. I am drawing almost every day on the iPad Pro, but rarely use it for it anything else. My usage may change when I go back to school, but that would only solidify not upgrading. Now if they dangled a Mini with Pencil capabilities in front of me, that would be very hard to resist (though I would have to.)

I purchased my 10.5” iPad Pro in June 2017, but honestly think I may well upgrade if the 2018 models do come with Face ID.

Any others who recently purchased an iPad Pro considering the same? Or would that not be worth it?

Nope, but then again I don’t upgrade every time something comes out. I have a 2011 MacBook, a 2007 iMac, iPhone 7 lol...you get the idea...

I agree, I was using an iPad 2 at work for applicants to take a test online and it worked great.

I am still using my beat up ipad mini 2. I was going to upgrade to a pro model this past Summer, but didn't for various reasons. One of them was that i was kinda hoping an ipad mini pro would be announced. When that didn't happen, i almost got the 10.5", but ultimately didn't. I still might. The 10.5" is very nice, and if i got one of the current pro models, it'd definitely be the 10.5" for sure. Although not as "portable" as the mini which i can stick in my cargo pants pocket, it is a lot more comfortable to carry around than the 12.9".

I'm holding out until the next update, which by all accounts is going to be a radical bezel-less redesign. If this is so, i wonder if Apple will keep the same size screens on the pros, but just lose the bezels? Or if they will increase the screen size to fit within the current form factor? If they actually keep the same screen size but lose the bezels, the 10.5" will be a lot closer to the current ipad mini size, and i'd be that much more tempted to buy it.

But if they increase the screen size and keep the current form factor...will Apple then also offer a true ipad mini pro? Rumor has it that Apple will be releasing a larger 6.1" iphone X next year. So perhaps the ipad mini pro will truly be disconntinued. I dunno.

I only hope my ipad mini 2 can hold out until the next ipad pro update!

Just upgraded from iPad Air 1 to a 10.5. Will not upgrade in 2018, 2019 or 2020. The new form factor will probably very expensive first, I will wait until it is more affordable, bugs are ironed out and technology is further improved. The improvement should be similar large to the one I just experienced.

I already played this game once this year, when I sold my first gen 12.9 Pro to get the new 10.5 Pro, so I'm going to have to have some restraint and hold onto this one for at least 2-3 years. Before my 12.9, I had a 2010 MacBook Pro 13 which I had for 5+ years, so I can certainly keep the same one for a long time without "needing" a new one. It's just a question of "wanting" or not.

Nope- no plans to upgrade anytime soon here! I am so incredibly pleased with the 10.5-inch Pro, this display size is just perfect. Face ID would be neat, but not enough for me to sell & take a loss on my current iPad.

Unless it is required to run an ipad version of xcode...not a chance.

As good as face id is on my iphone X, I wouldn't replace a year old device just for it.

The only ipad I would plan on buying next year is a new mini, and I'm sure that won't happen either lol.

I’d like to say no.

But let’s be real. I bought the 2015 iPad Pro and then the 2017 one. So the answer is probably yes. If it has OLED, probably the bigger one because I’ll watch crap on it.

Yes! I like my iPad Pro but it feels like it’s lacking after I got my iPhone X.

I will. But I’m one of those (few) compulsive upgraders. Went from 2 > 3 > Air > Air 2 > Pro 9.7 > Pro 10.5 and no regrets. Always got decent resale and the upgrade was worth it. Looking forward to what 2018 brings.

Check out Luna by Astropad.
Personally I find the iPad Pro needs software improvements more than hardware.

That's great man, wish iPad pro was fast enough a f powerful enough fit my need, for now it's a fun companion device to more capable and powerful windows tablets. If astropad ever releases the Luna fir windows I'll buy one in a second . I left the Mac ecosystem because for my workflow it's hard to go back in tech to non touch , non stylus computers . They just work so much better than a laptop for me.

I might, but probably to a Surface Pro as I find the iPad Pro to be too limited (and I’ve been trying for 8 months now)

I made a list before of why I would upgrade, I looove my 2017 Pro. It’s the best Apple product just ahead of the iPhone X and Apple TV 4K. But if the 2018 model looks like either of these...

And has following features, I’m in...
1.) Pretty much bezel-less so the screen size can be bigger or the footprint smaller. (12.9” or 13.3” screen size.)
1.) NO HOME BUTTON/Face ID.
2.) 4-6GB RAM.
3.) A11X Bionic Octa-core Processor. (I wish 4 were energy efficient and 4 were for pure processing power.)
4.) Even Better speakers.
5.) More efficient ProMotion.
6.) Apple Pencil 2.
7.) Bluetooth 5.0.
8.) iPhone X or iPhone 8 dual camera.
9.) Would love if it could play full and true HDR 4K movies and videos.

Even if the iPad Pro 3 doesn’t have everything I listed, I’d upgrade just if it became bezeless for smaller footprint or bigger screen, **£and no home button.
lol.

Kallum.

Everything you posted except for number 8. We are talking about an iPad here not an iPhone. Don’t need dual cameras on a 12.9 incher.

We all should buy the next ipad iphones and macs..if we want Apple not to fail and close its doors
So plz buy any new Apple product, lets help them not to lose their fate and faith

Still using a 2015 12.9....so yeah. I’ve bought and returned the 2017 model twice. It’s hardly an upgrade.

I have the LTE iPad Pro as well, very convenient.

You mention that you use your iPad Pro for calls and that it has replaced your smartphone? Out of curiosity, are you referring to telephone calls or just FaceTime / Skype?

@Fireball Dragon
Yes phone calls used with my one AirPods and an app called TextFree. The app gives you unlimited texting and calls with the ability to get you a local number in your area (for extra small cost) all using either your WIFI or LTE if you have the LTE IPad, which I do. this all works very nicely for the last few months.

the only reason I would do it is if they kill the home button. I find the interface changes between my iPhone X and iPad Pro a little confusing sometimes, and I like the "swipe up to go home" gesture a lot.

But if there are no major interface changes to make the iPad more like the iPhone, I'm not interested. There is nothing wrong with my current iPad Pro's performance. I don't need a spec upgrade.

Since I just bought the 10.5 in September and the second-generation iPad Pro 12.9 earlier this month, I don't think that I will be buying the next iterations if they are released within a year's time, but that said, if they offer really compelling new features I might change my mind.

I have an Air 2 and am looking to upgrade, but it has to have new features of some sort and just just a spec increase. My air 2 works wonderful and I will give it to my boyfriend if I upgrade.

The only reason to buy a new iPAD would be improved battery. Perhaps 15 instead of 10 hours?

Anything besides that is pointless.
