I just do not understand how someone can say it’s easier and faster. You can literally have your phone open half way up to your face on Touch ID. Doesn’t get much faster or easier than that.
TouchID failed on me like 30% of the time and required me to type my code in. Face ID almost never fails on me. That makes it much faster.

I am fearing that you have to wait for this at least until spring 2020....
I'm ok with that. The 10.5 Pro has been my favorite iPad so far.

The only reason I kept my 9.7” Pro was because I had a feeling a major redesign was coming in March or June 2018. Just think. And I’ll leave out the HDR OLED Display.

#1. A11X 6 or 8 Core CPU
#2. Low power DDR4 RAM
#3. New LG Chem Lipobattery
#4. Apple Pencil 2
#5. Improved 120hz ProMotion
#6. Redesigned body thinner lighter
#7. Face ID
#8. Dual Yes Dual Cameras
#9. Possible glass back and wireless charging but hoping not
#10. Bluetooth 5.0 finally.

You were right on ! Most of your 10 items are coming to a new 11” iPad Pro).

I laso have 9.7 Pro and will be upgrading this year. My iPad will go to my son.

Only if it's OLED, otherwise there´s no use.
No OLED this time around, maybe in 2019, most likely in 2020

Possible change in screen tech plus face id convinced me to by a new 12.9 pro this week.
Good luck early adapters!

2015 iPad Pro owner here, not updating.

It would have to be something MAJOR to convince me to upgrade OLED 2k res screen, ceramic body, wireless charging, pretty much it would need to be an iPadPro 2022 addition in Apple time (lol).

I’m not a fan of Face ID so I definitely won’t be upgrading. I hope the 10.5” Pro will last me up to 5 years.

i think im getting to that age where i need to assess more my needs and wants. My 10.5 is great spending another $1300ish to upgrade for a essentially the same thing +face id and a higher resolution screen is insane. However to keep the stock price going up you all should upgrade. For a new iPad i could get 6 more shares that won't become obsolete when the new iPads come out for years on end.

Just picked up an iPad Pro 10.5 256GB Gold at Best Buy on sale for $125 off full price. My iPad 2 served me 7 years, so this will work for at least 3-4 years. Not interested in Face ID and am sure I paid at least $125 less for mine than an iPad Pro 3.

Yeah, I think you are quite correct. As an iPP 9.7" owner, almost since the day it came out, lots kept saying that 2 GB of RAM is gonna make you want to dump it sooner than later, and here we are, two years later, you could say half way through its life cycle, and guess what, its still working flawlessly. And earlier today, I picked up a Macbook Air at a BB for $700, and guess what, the sales dude there went out of his way to try and upsell me to a 2018 Pro 15", which I'd not the slightest interest in buying, by trying to convince me i was almost wasting my money by spending money on a 2017 Air. Nope, I'm thinking, buy the value offerings, IF they meet your needs, and with the money saved, as you say yourself, maybe BUY Apple stock.

For me, no! I specifically bought the 2017 12.9” 512GB model because it would likely be the last with TouchID and I like TouchID. I figure this will last me a few years before I will have to adapt to FaceID but if I can put off that faceID migration for a while, I’d prefer that.

I’m with you on keeping or buying tech that is still relevant. The tax free weekend has me looking at some of the new MacBooks though (must resist!!!)

My company supplies me with a new MacBook every few years, and I’m due for an upgrade in another year or so. It’s completely impractical for me to buy a personal Mac at this point, but I have still been lusting after the 2018 MacBook Pros. I want one badly.

True. There were lotsa iPP 9.7 naysayers due to the RAM recommending either Air 2 or Pro 12.9 or even waiting for the next model. Would 4GB have been better? Sure. For someone badly needing an update (e.g. from 16GB Air A7/1GB), it was a good upgrade. The Pro 10.5 is nice but I couldn't wait any longer. I would've chucked my Air against the wall long before that got released.

Besides, 2GB might be tight but it wasn't awful. You could run some not so light Linux distros on 2GB even without swap.

I’m probably going to stay with my 10.5 for at least another year just because I don’t want to be an early adopter. I don’t want to have to deal with any issues that could arise with the redesign. The 10.5 is also still very powerful and most of what I do doesn’t even require this much power anyway.

Ok well I own a PRO 10.5 & I have a problem with these strange small marks or scratches showing up. I have never had this problem before. Now I returned two pros as made sure the 3rd had a protection scree on so I bought a zagg invisible shield. I mean what the hell is causing theses things to now appear on the shield I have no clue. It’s like I am taking crazy pills.

I’ll have to either put a drop ceiling up as maybe upstairs particles have finally found way through cracks and fall onto screen and when I use a micro fiber cloth it scratches it. Other then that it could be me sleep walking and doing it cause of stress. Or The coating or screens Apple uses sometimes has defects.

If anyone else has had these small scratches occur then I’d appreciate any advice.

I’m actually a bit surprised that Apple would come out with a new form factor in the fall of 2018 after just releasing the 10.5 in June of 2017. I’ve seen the various articles and rumors, but I was expecting something in the summer of 2019.

I bought a 10.5 pro with 4g, 256gb of RAM, the keyboard, and AppleCare. It was not a cheap purchase and cost more than a lot of computers. Even though it’s tempting to get the latest and greatest I’m going to hold off for a bit. The iPad Pro I have is one of the best devices I’ve had in a while, so it’s not like the new bezelless design is going to go anywhere.

It’s probably not a problem with the iPad or shield. I think there’s something wherever you use the iPad that’s causing the abrasions. Where do you use your iPad and what for?

Or maybe you’re just sleep walking and doing it...

Same. My wife will put up with me spending money on one Apple upgrade a year. (Not counting our yearly iPhone trade ins.) My Apple Watch Series 0 is getting long in the tooth and won’t run watchOS 5, so it’s getting the priority this year. Won’t make my 10.5” Pro any less awesome.

Scratches seem to pop up on my iPad Pro 10.5 I have no clue. Never had problem with my first one. Then after that needed to be replaced it seems like every one I got after that got those small dust scratches or other ones. Then I put th 10.5 invisible shield for the 10.5 that has life time warranty and it has scratches. I don’t get how so long the first one never had this problem and now it seems all the replacements are just defective. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

I’ll check. I’m gonna use it in a different area and hop for the best. Cause honestly at least if I know what the reason is I will be able to sleep better. Also at least this time it will be the screen protector taking the hits. But I don’t get how lil particles like dust or what not can even scratch the protector when it says it’s good at protecting from scratches. If a lil bit of dust can cause a scratch, that’s pretty pathetic. Lol. Also my cousin lives in Toronto. Would like to one day visit Canada for first time. Thanks for time. As for sleep walking. I have when I was young but that was because of things a lot more horrifying then most people would be able to handle. Lol. Later.
