Just sold my 3rd gen 12.9” iPad for £770 (not a bad return from a 2018 iPad Pro imo) and will use the money towards 12.9” 2TB IPAD PRO

I have a 11 inch 2018 pro and the answer for now is no. As it stands now it does everything I need so would just be a waste of money. The new screen is nice but I prefer the 11 inch size and I rarely watch movies on my iPad.

Here, where else?
The M1 chip and Thunderbolt sounds great, but I don't see a reason to upgrade my 11" to the new one since I mostly just use it as a home tablet. Maybe to the next iteration, or if the iPad Air gains Face ID along with that rumored OLED screen in 2022. But I really don't see a reason for me right now since the A12X is still more than enough to keep mine just as snappy as it was day 1.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that they kept the same price though, the entry model is even a bit cheaper here than what I paid for mine at launch on Apple's site.

I will not be upgrading my iPad Pro 11" 2020. 6GB RAM on 2020 models are more than enough for the current iPadOS.
Not much difference from my current iPad Pro

I’m on the fence. If I have to buy a new magic keyboard then probably not. I would like also like to see if there is an improvement in battery life and if the Face ID is any faster.

Over here
Does anyone know if the new iPad will actually allow me to display it fully on a 34 inch monitor rather than the current 1/2 screen at best.

Apple will give me $535 in trade-in value for my 2019 12.9-inch iPad Pro. That will be lower come next lineup refresh. Do I trade it in for the new model (that seems like a fair value) or keep the one I have and trade-in at a later refresh?
Beware of trade ins with Apple. They use a scummy third party company. Best to sell your iPad on ebay.

A lot of people say that MacOS is not a touch screen inteface. However with a Magic Keyboard that doesnt become an issue.
Main issue for me is mouse support. The current ‘cursor’ is a bit sub-par imo. I’d like that and proper external monitor support. Otherwise I’ll keep my 2018 12.9in.

I would suggest you bring it in to the Apple store snd do your trade there. I saw some articles about the mail in company they are using and seems there’s a number of complaints against them.

I have a 2018 12.9 with 64GB ram that I bought as a refurb from apple about 1.25 years ago for $699, which apple apparently will give me $535 for so I’m going to hope that holds and get a new 2021 12.9 with 256 Or 512GB ram and possibly cellular. I think there are enough upgrades here to warrant ~$600 OOP

No, the new Thunderbolt connection does not change how the iPad mirrors on an attached monitor - that will require an iOS change (and there are zero rumors that it is in the works though people hope for something in iPadOS 15).

Yes, I have a 2018 11" I bought when they came out and love it. The battery is not lasting as long as I need it and the new 11" with M1 sounds appealing. Plus, mine only has 64GB and I hit this ceiling regularly. I'll go for 256GB for the new one. I can get a $455 trade-in from Apple. Not bad considering the new one will cost $849 Education. $400 was not a bad investment for nearly three years of daily use.

Apple's website does show the iPad Pro supporting the Pro XDR display at full 6K resolution. I want to say yes. The iPad Pro will power through a display at full size. Keep in mind that the iPad Pro is not launching until late May. That's about 1 or 2 more iPadOS updates including iPadOS 14.5. Apple can also have this feature unique to only iPad Pro w/thunderbolt out the box.

We'll have to wait until review units begins shipping.

Some apps will utilize a full screen but iOS native apps and home screens do not. Their show was selective.

Didn't they show fullscreen support during the keynote and not just simple mirroring?
