I also have a 2017 27” iMac (fusion drive). Do you think you will be able to adjust to the smaller screen size?
I think that it’s not gonna be a huge change. 3” is not a lot for a monitor that size. I’m sure you’ll love the new 24” iMac.

If you aren’t sure, maybe go to a store later in may/june and check it out for yourself.

Launch date is most likely May 21. Reviews will be out before then. You can always cancel.
Yes, I agree. Preorder tomorrow morning so that if you like it (from watching reviews later), you’ll get it around May 21.

If you don’t like it, you can cancel before then.

I think I’ll jump on the 5G base iPad Pro 12.9.

I can just use a hotspot, but I already have a free & unused line on T-Mobile that I could just insert the sim into.

"Better to have and not want, than to want and not have". Words to live by for all early adopters. ;)
That certainly is my mindset for anything PC related (after the GPU and Zen 3 CPU situation)... Even with so-called supply shortages for iPads, I suspect it will be pretty easy to pick one up.

Honestly I’m still on the fence about this upgrade as I only bought my iPad Pro 12.9 (2020) 1TB nine months ago and still haven’t maxed it out yet. Yes the screen and RAM upgrades sound great, but the upgrade cost of about £1,050 with discounts and trade-ins seems rather steep after only nine months. I feel buying the new M1 Macbook Air would be better for use as backup storage and a transfer interface to a SSD for my photography while on the go. I thought the 2020 iPad Pro would be great for that and save weight & space, but a corrupted memory card screwed up those plans. I think I may be waiting until this year’s WWDC event for any iPad OS upgrades unless I’m tempted by that new mini-LED screen.

Yea.. that's quite the sting after less than a year. Definitely wait for WWDC. If not much comes of it I would definitely stick to your 2020 Pro.

Yes and No. I destroyed my 2018 11” iPad, and couldn’t wait until May. I decided on a 2020 11” base model for general browsing around the house. However, I’m also upgrading to a 12.9” 2021 with cellular as a laptop replacement. If I could only choose one, however, I would stick with the 11” because its a perfectly portable size in my opinion.

Yes, I will be updating to the 2TB 12.9”. I know it is very expensive, but the iPad Pro is the computer I use 95% of the time. There are a number of reasons;
  • My 1TB 2018 iPad Pro is almost full
  • I use mine frequently outside playing music and the extra screen brightness will be more than welcome
  • I use on the move travelling around the world, so 5G will be put to good use
  • I frequently use to watch videos, so the new improved screen will be noticeable with real blacks
  • I use to edit videos, so the faster processor will be used, and the better screen for colour balancing
  • I use for video conferencing so the improved front camera will help
  • As I use to run my business, it is a fully deductible business expense
The iPad Pro is by far my favourite computer device ever. I have had every 12.9” edition since the first in 2015 (except the 2020)
I have to admit this, but I though the 12.9 was absolutely stupid at release.

Have to say it’s now my favorite (2018 1TB 12.9 IPP) Apple computer. It‘s the last device that flicker free and I am PRAYING the MLED version will be as well.

Otherwise is curtains for me after 30 years of Apple Computing 😞

After the announcement I picked up a brand new open box 2020 iPad Pro 128GB cellular for £640 which I thought was good. Fantastic device!

Here it is next to my 12 mini.

Has anyone any idea if last years Apple Folio Case will fit the new 12.9? I've heard that last years Magic Keyboard won't fit the new 12.9. I've been on to Apple (via chat) and they said that the old Magic Keyboard won't fit the new models but the old Folio will fit? Anyone have any idea why this is?

Technically, the MK won't fit. But, I think the issue with the MK is that closing will see a very minor gap. And perhaps, the Apple Folio will have the same experience. But we won't know how much of a difference it will be until we get first impressions from content creators.

I've ordered one off Apple to compare. One will be going back. If they are the same I'll return the Apple one as the one off Amazon was cheaper.

I preordered the 11” 1TB 16GB model on Amazon. Whether I keep it or cancel the order depends on what happens at WWDC. If they give me some Pro Apps to the point that it can replace my Macbook Air as my portable device, I’ll keep it. If they just announce widgets, I’ll be cancelling and ordering a 256 or something.

I ordered just now and like you, when I see what happens at WWDC, I will either continue with the June 25 possible delivery date or cancel. problem solved 🤓

I prefer the larger 12“ screen. I was planning to get a new MBA + iPad Pro but I think I might get a Surface Pro instead as it can act as a laptop and a tablet saving me a considerable sum.

How will you know what they announce at WWDC before your device ships? Did you get a Late June or July delivery estimate? WWDC is always in June, right?

I ordered on Amazon and it’s saying May 24th, but I doubt I will get it that soon. Amazon has 30 day returns anyway, worst case I’ll return it and order the smaller storage/ram model if they don’t give me a way to use the RAM at WWDC.

The 11 inch iPad Pro is the perfect size for me so no. Maybe next year if iPadOS15 brings a lot of new features

I went ahead and upgrade my 2020 12.9" due to the screen, but still can't decide about the 11". I don't want to wait too long and delivery dates fall into the summer, but I am still unsure. What about you?

I’m not sure yet. I kinda want to but I think I’m going to wait for WWDC and see what new stuff Apple comes out with for the new iPad Pros.
