They all do. 2.6 throttles just a little less than the i9.

I am a Normal User, Just a Power User not so much of a Logic Pro, Video Editor or a Adobe Premier Pro kind of Person. Just simple web browsing, extensive Movie Watching, Normal Laptop work kinda person. But wanna gift myself New Apple Toy. So should I worry about Throttling...Or It does not affect me ? If I am not that kind of Pscyho-Geeky Person !!

Not something I can offer an advice on. I am in the same position and stuck with a 2011 MBP so anything is a better option but I am waiting to see what is going to happen in the next few days. I am giving myself till mid September to make a decision.

No it won’t affect you - although it’s probably something you don’t need at all given your usage - which would easily be handled by the 12” MB or even an IPP.

Wow a few days is an optimistic timeline! I would expect nothing before September - and I would only expect a silent update coinciding with Mojave - that way they can spin it as Mojave improving performance

Anything they prepare for Mojave will probably be pushed in a beta update before GM.

anything thats part of Mojave -not necessarily if there is a separate firmware update. These problems lie under the OS remember

Well. I only had till mid September to make a decision. I am returning to college in October which happens to be in a different country than where I live and I can’t afford to pay customs for importing it there. It is really up to them now if they want to take my money.

I feel like it would be easier shooting myself in the foot that following anything Rene does but I’ll bite the bullet this time.
I listened to most of it yesterday. I don’t know anything about Rene; however, Ian does a bulk of the heavy lifting. Just fast forward through rene’s “commercials.”

If you're not a fan of Ritchie then I think you'll probably have a hard time getting through the episode, but Ian Cutress is a pretty knowledgeable person and I think gives some good insights.

I am anyways gonna get an 2018 iPad Pro when it comes later this year and I also need to buy a 15" rMBP no worries on spending money on Apple Toys just that it has to be picked right just for my use case. For me every Apple Device has a place of its own, and every device is needed where it is needed. All are unique and all have their specific using scenarios. So not guilty or worrying about spending on Apple stuff ! Just that I don't wanna end up buying anything which I do not require like buying a Rolls Royce Phantom when a BMW 7 series is fine with me !! Just want Value for My Money !!

Well you don't need a 15" rMBP, based on your usage.

The usage you described means both iPad Pro (unless you do gaming) and 15" MacBook Pro are overkill for you.

for what you described, get the 2.2GHz 15". If you get by with 13", it will do everything you need with plenty of head room for much less money.

IF you like car analogies, buying 15" to watch some movie and web browsing, is like buying a race-car for commuting to work and going to the store every few days.

Just get the 2.2 and then add storage if needed - 256 GB is a joke on such an expensive machine and can fill up quickly.

I would say the opposite, unless you work with huge video files or similar 256 GB is plenty. Apart from the people working with such files, what do people keep on their laptops that require so much space?

That's the most common complaint I hear about rMBPs in general - pricing for additional storage is absurd, and most users neither know nor benefit from the speed of it.

For me, I have large amounts of data that I need access to whether there is internet access or not; and I'm frequently in places where that doesn't exist (or, more accurately, is not allowed). Others I know have large music/photo/video collections that they want to be able to take with them. Etc.

Speaking for myself I prefer to have everything in one place. Easier to manage. My old machine has a 1TB drive that is mostly full and even if I delete a bunch of stuff theres no way I can migrate to even a 512GB drive.

Yeah I guess if you have data you need and have no internet access that is a use case where that is needed, most people do not have that type of problems though as they don't have huge data they need to access with no internet.

Yeah, same for me. That is why I keep all my data I need to store in my NAS with instant backups so I can access it from any device and have it more secured than just having it on unit and then relying on time machine backups. Even a 4 TB drive in my Macbook Pro would be too small to store all my data, and I would still need somewhere to back it up.

So instead of fragmenting too much I keep my devices more or less clean from things that need to be stored and just use them to run programs.

Am I correct that whatever solution Apple or users come up with to resolve this issue, it will involve making the laptop noisier?

I prefer my backups to be offline. I don't trust cloud, and I'm not willing to trust NAS systems with an always on internet connection.
