I went in with an old iPad to see about trading in and walked out with a 6th gen 32gb. I will trade in or sell my daughter's 5th gen so she can get herself the pencil. It was kind of an impulse by since we all have one except my wife who refuses to use Apple products.

Just curious but why is she holding out?

I just got a US space grey 128 from AT&T Friday - 12w here. Can’t believe they ship lower. That just seems insane to me.

Purchased my new 128gb Space Gray iPad today, I too was surprised to see a 10w UK power adapter included as I’d expected a 12w.

Apple going backwards. Never mind hoping for a 12W for the Iphone (or even a 10w), or a 20+W for the iPad Pro, they cut back to a 10w for the iPad even though the battery is still large. Seems like unnecessary penny pinching which directly impacts the user experience due to slow charging

Its one area they really could do with improving across the board

It seems arbitrary. 12W came with my three 2017 iPads (5th gens).
Yep, seems random. I've received both 12W and 10W.

We never use 'em, though. Often, we need to charge multiple devices at the same time so we got Anker 6-port and 10-port chargers for convenience.

The inconsistency pisses me off. Since I saw the 10W charger on my six generation iPad, I went to all my iPad boxes and saw 10W charger all all my iPads. It seems to me that Apple wants us to spend more money on the charger that they could including the box.

I wonder what the wattage is per port. Looks like great charging alternatives.
Iirc, any of the ports can do 2.4A (12W) max but obviously not when they're all in use at the same time. We also keep one of 6-port chargers plus Lightning and microUSB cables always packed in a travel bag and ready to go.

Any chance you’d share where this came from? My daughter needs something to charge 3 ipads and a phone at once!

The 10-port has been really useful for us in the living room.

cables:
4x Lightning
2x microUSB
2x 30-pin
1x Apple Watch

for the following devices:
4x iPhone
4x iPad
2x iPhone 4/4S

I just took a new 2018 out of the box and it has a 12W charger. I think the 2017s I just got new had 12w as well because I’m almost positive I sent my older ones out with the older iPad minis and kept a new one, and the one I have in the wall says 12 also.

So how does this compare as far as how long it takes to charge devices? She needs something that would do 2X 2017 iPad, 1X 2018 iPad and 1X iPhone 8+

Seems the same as the 10W/12W chargers. I'm usually asleep when they're charging so it's not like I actually notice the difference between 10W and 12W. Devices are fully charged when I wake up so all good. :p

I think I will be trading in my 4th generation for the new one. Sounds like it will be a nice upgrade for me.

I suspect it willbe a nice bump in performance. I have an Air 1 thats getting old now and Im very close to doing the Best Buy trade-in deal. Hmmmm.

Anyone trade in their Air 1 and find this latest iPad to be a noticebale improvement?

We find Air 1 to 2017 iPad is already a very noticeable improvement. This one's a bigger jump.

Anyone have experience putting a matte screen protector on the new 2018 iPad? I’m wondering if it’ll reduce the noise the Apple Pencil makes when writing cause of the non-laminated screen. I have an air 2, but I play Fortnite and pubg mobile and wanna take notes with the pencil; so I’m at a crossroads.

Thats good to hear. With the Best Buy trade in special plus a $25 gift card offer on top of it, I can walk out the door with a 6th gen iPad with LTE support for about $340out of pocket(includes tax too). Not too bad at all! :)

Hows the experience coming from an air 2?

I've had my air 2 since it's release in 2014.....Thinking about upgrading.

Anyone go from from an air 2 to the new model? If so, what are your thoughts?

Depends on the task?

I'm hard pressed to notice an appreciable difference between Air 2 (A8X), Pro 9.7 (A9X), iPad 5th gen (A9) and Pro 12.9 2nd gen (A10X) for web browsing, email, comics, ebooks, etc (apart from multitasking and tabbed browsing benefits that 4GB RAM brings).

Thanks! I primarily use my air 2 as a media device, but was thinking of upgrading & liked the idea of the pencil (for light storyboarding purposes), but it still for the most part be a media device.

I'd take advantage of the trade in (on apple, it list my air 2 could get a credit of $180), so was something I was thinking about, but wanted to get some thoughts from air 2 users who upgraded.
