hi! i have the same model and problem has gone (radeon high side is about 5-10W)
1. check that you have installed all updates to beta 7
2. it works better in "low battery mode" - try to activate it (System settings - battery - power saving mode)
It works now, I got 8-10W instead of 15-16W!
Switching power saving mode helped!

Why could not they do this earlier?)))

I %90 believe they do, yet I still buy Apple products, so they obviously can get away with it, so why not :D

Back in the day people were praising Macbook's to last years, for the past 5 years or so, I've been forcefully buying a new one every 1.5-ish years - all because of "bugs" that heat Macbook and make the battery go swollen

The one I bought after this met the same fate too, but in a different way, and the cycle repeats :(

Edit: And to clarify, they introduced a bug in High Sierra, which made the Nvidia GPU at the time work near 100% capacity whenever you had an external screen connected, sounds similar doesn't it, Apple's forums were flooded with issues reported, yet they let it be for months

It certainly DOES!
And they are giving us the fix right when they are introducing 16"AS so that nobody will accuse them in ****ing up intel-based MacBooks.

While I’ll take what I can get. I don’t think any of us should be happy with running low power mode forever.

The ideal solution should be the new Mac OS fixed the bug of feeding the GPU more than it has to, and that’s it, all the time, not just low power mode.

I waited out the whole butterfly keyboard episode so I can properly upgrade from my 2015 15”, not so Apple can sell me a software impared laptop instead of a keyboard impared one.

I want to run the 16” CPU on the clock it can run and Apple needs to fix Mac OS to stop over feed power to the GPU, period.

The top spec mac pro which you mentioned can for sure handle the features, which already monterey is not supporting for intel.
Apple will just cut the support resources for intel osx to minimum, which will affect bug fixes etc ..

Is Beta 8 stable enough to have it on my main Mac?
Being able to use external monitor with my Mac open would be glorious.

as macOS has gotten progressive worse since Mojave, I couldn't care less about future updates beyond bug fixes.

1 week on beta 7 so far and man I see a HUGE difference in temps.

My computer 16" 5300m i7 got 10 degrees cooler. I can now use zoom, youtube and Godot without temps rising with my external monitor. With those apps I mentioned above, my watts are 8-9 watts.

Not bad. not bad. CPU temps are 50-55 degrees, compared to 60-65 degrees before.

Low power mode is awesome on my 16".
