I ordered a purple iMac on release day. After seeing the unboxing videos I decided I prefer the green over the purple so I contacted Apple to see if they could swap them out since my delivery isn’t scheduled until late June. They said they couldn’t help me and I’d have to cancel my pre-order and go through the process all over again. So I just ordered a green one that’s coming in July.
Try your luck in store on Friday. Unless you’re going for the 16gb ram spec.

You know I never understood why they don't offer more then base models in store. Or if they do they have very limited stock of higher end specs. It's super annoying especially when you live less then 10 minutes from an Apple store like I do lol

Any one else still seeing a discrepancy in the delivery estimate between Apple and FedEx (for those being shipped using FedEx)? Apple says "Arrives Monday May 24" (though the Apple Store App says between May 21 and May 27), while FedEx says "Scheduled Delivery: Friday, May 21 by 12:00 p.m." (currently located in Memphis, TN heading to NYC). I'm not sure which to place more trust in.

Yes, It will deliver by the time FedEx or UPS says not what Apple says. Apple has said the 24th for mine since I ordered but FedEx has said the 21st since my iMac shipped.

Just looked at the detailed UPS tracking history for my iMac.... Hopefully it's not headed back to China for Round 3, lol. Anyone else see this kind of activity?

I have exactly the same tracking. Crazy!
Insane!! I had gotten an email from UPS that a delivery exception may end up causing a delay, and I guess that trip around the world was probably it. As of right now it's still set for delivery Friday and I hope that holds.

What website is this out of curiosty? That’s crazy! Mine stopped updating after Anchorage Alaska via UPS
Completely nuts! What I showed was tracking info through https://www.theupsstore.com since the normal UPS website stopped allowing me to see detailed tracking info on packages that aren't coming to my My Choice address.

They do offer more than base models in store (usually 1 or 2 custom models with higher capacity or RAM) - but the real reason comes down to space. Most Apple stores have pretty small back rooms (unless recently built or expanded) and use rolling racks to maximize space.

iMacs are pretty much the largest/one of the largest boxes in an Apple Store inventory room, and there are too many SKU's as it is (so many colors.) iMacs alone will take up an entire rack/aisle, yet they sell much less of these than notebooks which take up a small portion of an aisle.

My friends who still work at stores are dreading the large # of SKU's for the new model and don't yet know how they will all fit.

Anyone in the uk or Europe see their order move from processing?

Not yet ?. Mines still saying ‘processing’ and June 3rd delivery even though it was ordered by 5 minutes after orders started. Someone mentioned that they might not register for the next ‘preparing to ship’ step until they’re in the main Netherlands sorting depot, which would be inline with my Apple Watch experience last September.

I have 2 on their way, one with a date 21-27 May and other 28 May - 4 June. Payment for both has been taken.

Nothing (Hungary). Ordering in the first 5 minutes, est. delivery 26-31 May, then it changed to 31 May, still processing.

I’m taking this as a good sign!… since the delay does not seem to be configuration specific but for all of Europe/UK. And some Europe/UK orders have got to be arriving on Friday! Surely! Maybe the process will suddenly come alive for everyone… any… minute… NOW?

Oh. Well. Soon maybe. ?

It would be quite pleasant :) But honestly, i don’t think i can get it this Friday :( It is a 16gb ram, 8+8, 512 + trackpad cto, the ram and trackpad upgrade thrown back immediately the est. delivery date with 1 week :(

Yeah, realistically I’m sure you’re right. Mines also 16gb 8+8 + trackpad. My earliest date quoted at purchase was 27th before it settled on the 3rd. So the 27th seems the realistic hope.
