Just talked to FedEx. Held on an " Apple embargo", showing Monday delivery now. I will try your idea of getting it escalated to weekend delivery. Let us know how it goes.
Apple embargo makes more sense than what I was told, especially since she acted like there are government embargos that made customs decide to hold onto it, and she acted like I was uninformed about some big news that recently broke.
That said, an Apple embargo doesn't excuse the fact that they don't have their customs paperwork in order, more so considering the shipment has been sitting in Memphis for 4 days due to, presumably, the Apple embargo. Time they could've used to get their stuff ready for a smooth process through customs.

I'm on the phone with Apple as I write this, so we'll see what happens.

Edit: Quick question, if you to your FedEx tracking, does the "CLEARANCE DETAIL" link under Shipment Facts, show everything blank for your shipment as well?

Yeah she was talking about all these embargos from certain countries and if I’d per chance had kept up with the news etc.

I didn’t necessarily buy it, but was just relaying what I was told.

Perhaps others that reach out get different/more clear information and we can puzzle together what is going on.
Sounds like Biden's administration may have put some pressure on China due to humanitarian issues - this explains a bit about the tensions between countries - especially intellectual rights, technology, military:

Wait.

You can go in a store and look at them? Is it an Apple store?

?

What's that like?*

* Where I'm at, you have to stand outside in a queue ( which is often 30 - 45 minutes running behind ) for your designated time to be handed something you purchased on line from a booth at the front of the store. :(
Unfortunately we don’t have real Apple Stores in Denmark, but we have Apple Premium Resellers. But yeah you can just walk in and have a look. It’s a stunning machine, and very very fast and sleek indeed

Ask Apple if they can pull yours from their Apple Store destined stock ?

That's how my M1 Mini arrived - it didn't come from China (tracking) - it originated from a local Apple warehouse.
if you pre ordered.... yours didn't come from "store stock" it came from prestaged for pre orders.

my iPad pro pre order was delivered from the US stock that was already prestaged or sent to various warehouses... it wasn't from store stock.

the store stock goes to the stores. the presaged home preorder stock goes to those people.

It's a waste of his time and the CS rep's time to call and ask for this.

the only way you're going to get store stock is to either go into the store or place an online order for in store pick up.

I doubt they have custom configurations in stock.

So I’ll probably have to push for it to be escalated up the food chain in the hopes they put pressure on whomever is responsible to get the customs situation sorted out and/or to upgrade the shipping to weekend as well.
my closest store has a few customs in stock for some colors (or did when i looked)... i.e. 16GB/1TB.

I meant the Apple warehouses in Ontario & Elk Grove, CA.

They hold all the Apple inventory for Commercial/Business accounts, EDU institutions, Govt, Apple Stores, etc...

I know, because at my work, we order tons of EDU/Government Apple devices and delivery is from their local distribution warehouse.

That's the only reason I got EDU pricing for my own personal purchase.

My last pre-order in Nov 2020 was an M1 Mini (EDU) and it came from AI - Ontario, CA warehouse on launch day....

I don't have anything titled that under "Shipment Facts". Still showing as delivery today by noon Calif. time.
EDIT:
Also, mine has been sitting there for 6 days now and plenty of time to get embargo paperwork through I would think.
@nd EDIT:
Oh I found it. Mine is not blank. It looks fine and everything looks like it's passed ok.

yes but that is stock to send out when people order. NOT to send out preorder stock IF it's meant for store stock.

my orders that are NOT preorders almost always come from rialto, too.

telling people to call and get the "store stock" sent to them for their PREORDER is NOT going to happen.

your got your mini from ontario because it was prestaged there for preorders. NOT because they took it from store stock.

So I talked to Apple support. It sounds like the " embargo" is imposed by Apple, and Apple now shows my delivery on 5/24. FedEx has always had 5/21 as delivery, and still does. I can't manage my delivery in the FedEx site because it is not allowed by the "shipper", who must be Apple. I asked Apple to ok a weekend delivery, but no go. So it looks like I take another day off on Monday unless my local store has my configuration: Blue, 8/8 16 gb 1TB with trackpad, mouse and keyboard.

First impressions after using it for about 30 minutes now is that I freaking love it! the only thing as of this moment that I could say negative about it is I wish the built in speakers went louder. however it does sound really good for how thin the computer is. and it's not really that big of a deal since I have air pods max anyways.

Well this is so weird. I can't for the life of me figure out why Apple would put an embargo hold just on *some* orders. And mine is not in China or some other foreign place. Like I have stated before, It's been in Memphis for the last 6 days! There is no excuse to hold these up! SO WEIRD!

i'm wondering if that pallet got its wires crossed? all of the orders that arrived to memphis or louiseville were on an apple embargo... but should have been lifted for delivery today. someone at fedex misread something? typo on the paperwork?

That's really weird and I'm sorry your iMac has gotten held up. I wonder what caused just certain orders to get held up? my iMac arrived in Memphis on Sunday evening and it had no issues.

Yeah, so weird. I'm quite disappointed. I had already cleared this whole weekend to work on it. Now if it doesn't come until Monday, that is a whole other problem. SHEESH! Oh well, that's life I guess. ?

Yep, something got crossed up. I should have escalated my call to Apple support up the ladder. Catch 22 right now, Apple says they can't change and same from FedEx. Maybe they will arrive today by some miracle. My local Apple store only appears to have the very base model in stock.

It seems these first deliveries are all in one of the colours available in all models (blue, green, silver, red). Is that just a coincidence? I ordered yellow minutes after pre-ordering started in Norway and delivery date is 9 June.

Anyways, just hung up with Apple with very little to no result.
First thing I did was ask for a supervisor on the assumption that the first line representative wouldn't be able to influence anything meaningful on the logistics side, once explained she agreed and was trying to transfer me to a supervisor.
Together we waited for about 30 minutes before one became available.

The supervisor was very unhappy to hear FedEx relayed this information to me to say the least. Apparently it goes against their contract with FedEx to relay this kind of information to customers, I told her to take it up with FedEx as I'm not a party to their contract.

On the whole she was unwilling to even entertain trying to resolve or inquire on the situation because we're still in the initial indicated delivery window that was on the order confirmation (May 21 - May 27), so she didn't consider it a promise broken and a problem worth looking into, and made it sound like I was in the wrong to even have the expectation that it would be delivered today.

I explained to her that while the initial expectation was set between May 21 - May 27, Apple has set a new expectation by stating it would be delivered today, and that FedEx strengthened that expectation by stating it would be delivered by noon today.
That Apple now chooses (during the call the date on the order status page, but not FedEx, changed to Monday) to change that, is their prerogative, same for their policy of what they do or don't consider an issue, but that doesn't change my expectation as a customer, given that they've set up the expectation for delivery today.
And I told her, that in that light I'd appreciate a pro-active approach instead of a reactive approach to ensure that delivery happens in an expeditious fashion.

There was a lot of bickering, she blamed FedEx for giving me information, went on about their agreement with FedEx, tried to BS me saying that my situation is unique, blamed FedEx more when I told here that there are more people here on MacRumors, etc. etc.

At one point I felt she was really BS-ing, saying that she could see messages between Apple's logistical department and the FedEx department that manages Apple's shipments and that there was no mention of any issue at all, which to me seemed unlikely based on my knowledge of how corporation generally manage access (also we're talking about Apple here, who takes it up a notch). That said, I didn't try to refute that because obviously I have no way knowing.

Instead I focused on trying to get her in a pro-active mood. And after a lot of back and forth I got her to agree to use her internal messaging option to reach out to FedEx to see if things can be resolved as quickly as possible.

Once I got that, I tried to move her to tell FedEx to lift the weekday delivery restriction. A whole new line of bickering started, that basically boiled down to it being tied to the contract Apple has with FedEx etc. etc.
I told her that the restriction was Apple imposed, or rather, Apple saving on shipping cost and that as such I can understand that it is part of the agreement between Apple and Fedex, but that I'd at least appreciate it if she'd tried to get that restriction lifted so that it perhaps, once the paperwork is in order, could be delivered this weekend for expedience sake.

Long story short, she told me she'd reach out to FedEx and would both try to resolve any issues that might be there and ask for it to be delivered in the weekend if possible, with no guarantees or even that FedEx would reply.

In the end that's honestly the best I expected to be able to get before I called so I left it at that, even though I still don't have anything concrete other than them only be willing to put all of their efforts into it once we're past May 27th.
