I decided to give up on my Sept 2-10 that hadn't moved out of Processing yet...my local Apple store right down the street had the 512GB version in green in stock for same day courier delivery, so I cancelled my order and ordered the local one. It was delivered and set up within 2 hours of my order. I gave up the extended keyboard (which is what was slowing everything down) but I'm fine with it. It's all set up now and I'm in love!!
By the way, if you still want the extended keyboard, you can contact Apple and they will provide you with the option of purchasing one (matching color) on its own. You need to provide your Mac’s serial number to verify.

I wanted the extended keyboard (British English). I guess that could be holding my order up, as they obviously can't send it without that.

Although adding that keyboard didn't change my delivery estimate. Does seem a bit silly that the wait is so long considering the new iMacs have been out for months and they can't be *that* popular.

There must be some manufacturing constraint (worldwide lack of microchips maybe) due to Covid. BOD orders always take a week or two more compared to regular configurations that are probably built to stock to some degree, so more readily available. The wide range of colors doesn't help.

I tried this to get a track pad to match my yellow and didn’t have any luck. I talked to two people in support who both transferred me to sales who then transferred me back to support.

I feel like covid is used as an excuse by companies a bit too freely these days.
I don't think there has been any official statement from Apple that Covid has caused supply chain problems, though due to the fact it's a pandemic, there likely have been, continue to be, significant staffing disruptions in suppliers.

Even so, it seems a bit bizarre to think anyone would claim it is causing issues if it wasn't. After all, if it wasn't, there would probably be rather fewer issues in the first place.

ON EDIT: It might be interesting for those stuck in shipping hell in any of its various forms, to have a read of: https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/23/business/global-supply-chains-christmas-shipping/index.html

I'm not a fan of CNN, but they, and their sources, paint a pretty clear picture the problems that exist in global supply chains at present, and where those issues come from.

Sorry to hear that... I have seen other posts on MR forum about people having success.

I had the exact same experience yesterday via chat...sales, to support, back to sales. In the end they advised me to call instead of using chat. If I muster up the energy, I'll try that later today.

Yeah. I did call. That was my telephone experience. Hopefully they will be available to buy at some point.
so i had the same issues trying to get the pink MK with the numeric pad. i was bounced around 5 times but i eventually got it ordered as an "apple care replacement order" where i get to keep my existing keyboard and just pay for the replacement part

Well, it's been two weeks since I placed my order and it's still 'processing'. I changed to 16GB of RAM, 1TB SSD and the numeric keypad keyboard, but I'd have thought those are fairly common customisations.

Has anyone here experienced much longer processing times than two weeks?

Yeah Im surprised it’s taken so long to be honest. I order a lot of Apple products and this is the first time it’s potentially gone past the expected delivery window.

Yes it's normal, mine stayed 3 weeks in processing, then shipped and took a week from Ireland to Italy

Just got my M1 16gb 2tb silver today! I hate the mouse, will never use it again. The trackpad though is amazing. Trying to install parallels windows 11arm now.

Is the trackpad better than the type you get on laptops?
I love my MacBook trackpads, its larger though, and I use high sensitivity, I havnt used a mouse in like 10 years, my gf uses a mouse so I will leave it out. but I will never touch it again other than pushing it out of my way.

I really recommend trying it, if dont like it, return it.
I just felt both, I think the Mac touchpad is a little slicker. but cant be too far apart in quality

I bought the trackpad because I thought it might be useful with iOS apps to mimic a touch screen, and it's nice to have in laptops. But I feel I'm faster and more productive with the Magic Mouse, at least for some tasks. The trackpad is good because for browsing you will not move the arm/wrist/hand so much like with a mouse

OMG, I hate the Magic Mouse with a raging passion. I am a two button mouse right-clicker, so I ended up taking two weeks trying to get along with the MM before I gave up and went back to my beloved little Logitech mouse. I don't mind the magic trackpad, though, and use that sometimes.
