I wonder if the solution for better racing overall is a sort of limited sort of push to pass they have over in freedom fries racing, my idea is that teach team has so many seconds of extra fuel flow boost, it is up to the driver to decide when he wants to use it, not sure how they would be able to control or determine the quantity allowed per press or use, DRS was never viable, it is stupid and just kills the sport, way too many stupid overtakes, that get undone at the next zone, rinse repeat, silly and stupid period..

The cost cap was never viable, all it does it make the breed of accountants better, they learn how to be very creative with what is included, or how to undervalue or misrepresent the actual costs so as to be over but actually under the cost cap, combined this with the Williams have more tunnel time than Red Bull, at this point in the season, absolutely wrong, RB won both titles at race 1 of 2023, no chance of AM, Merc, Fer, getting 1st...

Throw the batteries in the skip, V8, on vodka water, unlimited budget, a tyre war, a fuel war, back to what F1 was in the early days, 1950 to 2011..F1 is about breeding the best tech, if the planet wants to be all eco, then racing on sugar cane is better than on lithium, I wonder at what point DHL is going to get scared of electric, given just how many ships are destroyed as a result of EV car fires, almost daily there are reports of EV car fires... Would you want to transport an accident damaged EV car? Has the FIA invested any thought into this? EV is dangerous, not only on track, but in transport...

Something has to change.. F2 is more exciting than F1... that is just bizarre, a single formula car, limited options, it is about the talent of the meat in the drivers seat, F1 has lost this... How much of Max's dominance is his talent, and how much is down to the team/car/tech??

It would just be the bee's knees, a season of Max v Lewis in the same team, same same.. Round one, fight...

F2 is not more exciting than F1... This year F1 is absolutely riveting. The thing that is not exciting or a close battle is who is going to be WC... But the racing has been absolutely awesome.... anyone that thinks it is boring clearly hasn't been watching F1 very long.

Some good battles down the field yes. But when the chequered flag drops you know who’ll be on top step before the red lights go out. What’s exciting about that.
Oh and I’ve been watching F1 for decades.

Max vs Lewis where they both have an equal chance of winning is what we want to see yes. But I don’t think we will get there. By the time Mercedes catch up (or the rule changes reset things), it will be too late. It takes a long time to gain the 30 seconds a lap RB have over the others right now.

This just makes me smile.... everyone in this threads thinks they are an F1 expert.... Well I'm not but I am currently seeding all F1 races from 1978 to last week. I've seen them all many times and yes I was also watching them as a kid to now and I have been to races. I have been an F1 fan since the 70's

Lewis is old news and this talk about "if this person was just in a better car then... " is as old as F1.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see Norris next to max but anyone not recognizing how special max is simply does not want to see it. Lewis is special but he is over his top, Alonso is special and he is also over the hill (doesn't mean they don't show amazing things but they are not winning and/or out performing their teammates ALL the time).

If this is boring than Lewis/ merc winning all the time was boring, Schumi winning all the time was boring.... Anyone that feels this way should move on and watch something else. Most sports have periods with specific teams or athletes dominating because some people are just exceptionally good at what they do... And I feel lucky to have seen and worked with many crazy athletes in soccer, cycling, swimming, rowing, moto/car racing and any time a new person stands up and raises far above the rest I can only admire it.

Not a fan when Schumacher or Lewis was dominating either. But at the moment without a teammate to challenge him 99.9% of the time Max is just going to win every week.
DRS passes are boring. It’s just get close, pull out, pull back in and the guy behind has no chance. It’s not even a contest.
The days before DRS when you had to pull out at the last second and hope you could stop it before the corner (where a gravel trap awaited you if you couldn’t), we’re a lot more entertaining.

Now it’s all vote for the driver of the day or overtake of the day. Yawn. Not for me.
I just want to see more than one team in the fight at the front. But that’s not going to happen for a couple of years at least.

I don’t think Formula One allows the type of hard racing we used to see with last second diving overtakes, especially if there’s any contact. We’d see 5 second penalties being handed out like sweets and the DTS crowd already go off their nuts over this sort of thing. I’d love to see gravel traps come back too with drivers responsible for making sure they stay on the track. I just think F1 has evolved in a direction that is too commercial and false because there are now more parties making profit from it. This is why I watch and prefer some of the older forms of motorsport that have purposely maintained a more amateur and privateer element to keep themselves and the racing pure.

I think DRS is pretty cool. Max was giving a master class a few weeks ago on how to use it to your advantage and don't go for it too soon. Perez just couldn't figure it out on how to play the game at the same circuit and came up short everytime. I think some of you don't realise how smart you need to be in the race to use it to your advantage.

I love the comments, the ideas, solutions, what I find so funny is years back, some smart FIA so n so, thought it would be a great idea to have the 1 lap wonders, 1 by 1, out lap, qualifying lap, and back to pits, luck of the draw, then there was a survey by the FIA, something like 97% in favour of what is standard now... But now this has grown old n a bit useless, teams waiting, no cars on track, then with less than 15 seconds, the mother, father, daughter in law of traffic, and no one gets a lap in...

RedBull tastes like cough syrup. ugh

Some of my work buddies love to order rounds of Vegas Bombs when we are out. They are the worst.
I love cough syrup as well. And Jäegermeister.

But yes I never turn down a red bull. The various special editions are very yummy like last years summer edition.

But my absolute favourite is their Cola. It’s very good. Even better than Fentimans.

There is so much variety I’m sure there is a flavour for everyone.

F1 engineer's obsession with aerodynamic performance over the previous couple of decades is one of the reasons the FIA had to create DRS so the cars could actually pass each other. The (slow) shift back towards increasing mechanical grip is a hopeful sign that we may eventually get back to a point where cars can pass each other without needing tricks like DRS.

F1 kind of has a "push to pass" with the hybrid system, which can be employed to improve short-term performance to either attempt an overtake or defend against an overtake. Unlike P2P, it does not have a pre-determined time limit, but it does require harvesting to regenerate the battery store so it can't be used continuously.

KERS is useful to the car industry though and I can see why F1 developed the technology in conjunction. The 2009 regulations where fancy aerodynamics were banned to make cars easier to overtake didn’t seem to work and now we have two types of aids that are supposed to enable it. I don’t think the FIA truly understand how to improve racing and hope these gimmicks spice up the show. DRS has always been a marmite gimmick amongst observers and hopefully we are at a point where it’s being developed out of the sport again.

I would not be surprised if the FIA is somewhat hamstrung by the teams themselves, who I am sure do not want wholesale changes made - especially changes that invalidate the hundreds of millions they have spent over the years developing and honing their cars and engines.

Something to pass the time over the Summer Break...

F1 does not allow many things, embeds are the least of their problems, maybe they should accept that this is 2023, which is odd, as F1 is a media company owned product... You would think the more it is posted, the better...

F1 has bigger fish to fry... like trying to plug a huge problem with 1 team run away successes, and fans becoming frustrated.. Liberty know what they are doing, they are the experts..

Less than an hour away. This is one of my least favorite circuits/courses/tracks on the schedule. It's too small/short, imho, for these cars. Smaller cars would be better suited here.

Or go carts... lol.
Despite my home circuit, I kind of agree with you. However what it lacks in size, it hugely makes up in excitement, atmosphere, fan experience. One of the best to go to unless one prefers the big money parades of the UAE or USA tracks. It's too clinical there for my liking, too fake, too much about the money. This is still a proper fan circuit with a great atmosphere regardless of how much money one has.

I'm gutted as I was supposed to be there this weekend, but I had a health scare where I got pneumonia with scepsis two weeks ago, luckily recovering now, but it would have been nice to be there in person…
