I imagine the Apple Stores will be overrun by people who received their units as deliveries but want to make sure the light seal fits. I think that’s why we’re seeing better availability with pickups. Apple wants you to pickup but at the same time has to at least offer the option of delivery.

Vision Pro failing would be a major strategic disaster for Apple. We’re talking Tim Cook stepping down levels of disaster. This is the first major new innovative product from Apple in years. They won’t let it fail.
I agree it is “too big to fail” from Apple’s perspective but I do not think the company would mark the product down directly anywhere near “cost” in terms of tear down components.

Discounting would be in the form of free or reduced price on services like Apple TV+.

Apple does HW discounts largely through its lengthy support of past generations of hardware.

This may not happen on the first gen, we’ve seen other products’ gen one fall off faster than most want.

But this could also be a new category, it is not the same thing as a watch. And it is not the same kind of company it was when iPhone debuted.

I’d expect Apple to have multiple gens in roadmap with expected direct and secondary market pricing on prior generations of Pro. And a reduced experience, though I’m not sure what that could mean at this point, for some SE version.

I got an origin scan in Shanghai. Not sure when it actually showed up, but it’s in my UPS app right now. I paid with monthly installments and I was charged the tax immediately after purchase.

Origin Scan

Shanghai, CN

Service Level:
UPS Worldwide Express Saver®

Weight:
4.70 KGS
Same. Shanghai. I also opt for $292 12 months which is charged for the first month already.

I seem to always get tracking last minute. Anyone know if we can track by reference number?

I see a bunch of reference numbers listed for mine, but they don’t seem to match up with anything that I have access to (i.e. order number, phone number, etc).

I tried searching via those and it didn’t return any results
Same here, but as I was trying different variations I just saw my tracking populate in the UPS app! These are lower in volume vs iPhones, so I think everyone can expect to see tracking numbers soon 😄

Your card will be charged when it ships.

That's also when a tracking number will be generated.

And the fun begins tracking.

See iPhone launch threads on tracking - folks have come up with many different ways...
Shipping details such as tracking not provided when you do an in-store pick up. I would guess card will be charged when you pick up and transaction is complete.

Anyone else notice the weight referenced on UPS tracking? 4.7 kgs. If that’s kilograms….that about 10 pounds. Surely not?
I’m seeing the same, I’m sure it’s accurate. You’ve got a big box, the headset, 2 head bands, charging cord/brick and the polishing cloth lol. I’m sure the box will be beautiful and very securely packaged. Fragile device with the curved glass on the front.

That's the entire box:
  1. Outer brown cardboard box with shipping labels
  2. Actual (white?) product box
  3. Apple Vision Pro — Weight: 600–650 g (1.32–1.43 lb)
  4. Light Seal
  5. Light Seal Cushion
  6. Solo Knit Band
  7. Dual Loop Band
  8. Lens Cover
  9. Battery — Weight: 353 g (0.78 lb)
  10. Polishing Cloth
  11. 30W USB-C Power Adapter
  12. USB‑C Charge Cable
  13. Manuals + other literature
  14. Miscellaneous packaging material
So 4.7 kg / 10.4 lb doesn't sound too bad.

I can’t wait to unpack this. I’m expecting a setup that will help guide the user for proper first time usage.

The “white” Apple boxes tend to be pretty thick too, so there’s some weight just in that alone.

I’ve notice that if you placed an order now for in store pick up on Feb. 2nd, there isn’t a need to choose an appointment time. For previously placed orders with appointments, do we still have to adhere to it or can we just pick up the AVP anytime on the 2nd?

Are you positive? Usually it has you pick a day, and then a time during checkout. Just checked and I'm still prompted to select a time at my two closest Apple Stores.

Hope it comes packaged well, the iPhone packaging is always slim but obviously much more worried about this thing lol.

Anyone notice if any of your accessories have changed delivery time or status ?

Extra battery order that went to "Preparing to Ship" yesterday went back to "Processing".

VP status remains the same at "Preparing to Ship"...

Hmmmm....
