But what are you talking about using your glasses to match to the best lenses?

They will scan your glasses with an optometer to match you with Zeiss lenses in store for the fitting. Even if it's your own unit, especially on the 2nd/3rd/4th pickup appointments when you likely won't have your pair of Zeiss lenses in and yet. They cannot access your prescription or pull the information from the order. It's a HIPAA thing, and honestly it's kind of ridiculous that the US has locked vision correction behind prescriptions in the first place.

The Apple Store
Just was able to secure a Feb 2nd (8:30am) slot at the Apple Store for a 1TB. Now I can just refuse delivery for the 512GB one!

I have some more helpful information, this time for people picking up their Vision Pro or buying one in store.

You will be leaving the Apple Store with your Vision Pro sealed in the box. It will not be opened at the store.

You will have a separate box that contains the straps and seals that you found to be the best fit. You will try these on using a store Vision Pro unit with a special version of the OS which assists with fitting and acting as a tutorial without having to spend time linking to your iCloud account.

Do not bring your Zeiss lenses to the Apple Store. The store Vision Pro units are designed to only pair with the stores assortment of lenses (bring your glasses, they have a machine that looks through your glasses and matches you to the best lenses).
Out of curiosity, are the secondary boxes with the straps and light seals also sealed?

I'm trying to get some clarity on this, but as of right now I believe these items are boxed in store if they are part of your Vision Pro order. They are shipped in bulk and individually sealed in a wrapper to make logistics easier. The store then bundles the individually sealed items sized for you into an unsealed box. However, if you buy a light seal or light seal cushion separately then those have their own retail box sealed from the factory.

Eh, as long as they are sealed in a wrapper I'm fine, just don't want other people handling something that I will be wearing on my face. I'm not even planning on doing the try on in store, just gonna pick it up and go home. I'll come back to swap light seals if needed.

My understanding of that process is painless. They will need your Vision Pro serial number or the iCloud ID that's logged into the Vision Pro. They will provide you any size you want, no questions asked, sealed in a wrapper. I think they will be pretty lenient at first with how many times they allow people to come in and do swaps free of charge. The returned units are never given to another customer. They are shipped back to a depot and idk what happens to them from there.

For trials, Apple will be using the same set of Vision Pro Light Seals (they don't touch your face) but will not be reusing cushions. I don't know if the cushions will be different (disposable material, maybe) or if they will be in some sort of constant deep cleaning rotation. Anyway, what you try on in store isn't what would be placed into your box. Someone at Apple cares about us germaphobes.

Online orders for store pickup are factory sealed with the correct items already in the box. In-store demos that convert to a sale are assembled by hand into a slightly different retail box. Almost positive of this.

Not seeing any flights yet scheduled. It’s exciting because we’re going to be seeing movement soon though! 5 days left 🤩
I'm still on "Preparing to Ship" and "Prescription Verified" for my stuff. Hopefully tomorrow things start moving around. I am beyond excited to get that (reportedly) huge box on my doorstep this week. My friends all know it too--they are texting me when the commercials for it play during football.

EDIT: I originally had said "Super Bowl" lol

Sounds like good friends 😜

I hope the box is comically huge too.

For people like me.
I ordered both AVP orders without any lens correction.

My vision correction is very light and I figured that I may get lucky and use it without the Zeiss lens; like I use the Pico Neo 3 VR at work.

@attohs - very useful info! I will have to come into the Apple store and have my current lens checked if I need to get corrective lenses. I just don't have a current prescription as my vision has not changed in over 5 years.

I hope that the band, along with the AirPods Max, is somewhat manageable. Flying with AirPods or AirPods Pro is truly terrible. I’ve been flying since the very first Bose QC with over-ear headphones, and you really can’t go back to just earbuds.
Same here, I have never used earbuds - only use an over the ear noise cancelling headsets (Sony or Bose Aviation) and love it on planes.

Sticking devices in my ears sounds a bit intrusive and plugging.....

I just had another package from Apple appear on UPS My Choice. It’s 0.30KG and coming from Guangzhou. Zeiss inserts maybe?
Very likely. I, too, have a 0.3kg package coming from Guanzhou, and it has to be the lenses. That's the only thing I have scheduled for the 2nd. Everything else comes later.

Cool. I have had absolutely no change since 1/23, it's still in Shanghai. But I'm not worried because Apple and UPS have never messed this up. The actual delivery time without things sitting somewhere idly is about 2 days or so.
Yeah, they’ll get it right. Still, would be more interesting to see some updates.

My ZEISS lenses changed to shipped today but my Vision Pro still says preparing to ship. Would be fun to get the lenses a little early just to see what they’re all about.
