My ZEISS lenses changed to shipped today but my Vision Pro still says preparing to ship. Would be fun to get the lenses a little early just to see what they’re all about.
That would actually be pretty cool. Getting stuff early from Apple is unlikely, but it has been known to happen.

I’m also looking forward to seeing the lenses. My concern was that they would arrive late and I’d have a Vision Pro that can’t be used. That would be a nightmare!

My wife just asked me what I would even do if I got the lenses early anyway, and I go, "I don't know, look through 'em?"

Wives being realistic about things! Yeah, she’s totally right. It would be cool for about five minutes, and then we’d run out of things to do with them. I still want mine.

My lenses have shipped too according to the Apple Store, but for some reason the package is not showing up in the UPS app as "to me." I can still track it though.

I can see mine in UPS My Choice, delivering Friday by 9 PM.

The latest shipment progress is as follows:

Apple Vision Pro and the "Hold for Pickup" Question.

Today my Zeiss Lenses shipped and I noticed this language on the Apple Store website, "Your item is on the way. Please use the "Track shipment” link for the most up-to-date delivery information, to reschedule, or hold for pickup."

I ordered an M2 iPad Pro for delivery on launch day (10/26/22) and was able to hold that for pickup through UPS MyChoice without an issue the day prior to delivery. I think iPhones are handled differently from other products, since I have not been able to hold those for pickup in recent years.

What are your thoughts? I would, personally, much rather hold everything for pickup and hope it is an option.

Are most peoples feb 2 ones already shipped? Cus mine says it’s arriving then but is still preparing to ship
It’ll prepare to ship until some time between Wednesday and Friday. Often for me doesn’t update until out for delivery.

That’ll be an awful quick trip from china
Apple tracking normally updates when it’s in the states and being sent to you directly. That’s why it’ll stay in preparing to ship so close to launch, even though it’s been moving for several days prior.

With restrictions that Apple and/or UPS has placed on devices delivering to you, the basic My Choice will only allow you to have your neighbor sign for it or pay for other services.

If you have My Choice Premium paid subscription, you get free hold for pickup, confirmed delivery window times, delivery to another address, hold at UPS Store, etc....

Even with the Premium My Choice subscription I still do not have any of the additional options (free hold for pickup, confirmed delivery window times, etc). It seems like Apple or UPS blocks it on new product launches.

I think it varies by product. For some orders, tracking starts at some US depot (there are no locations in China in the tracking), while others start from China (and work as you'd expect: the package moves from place-to-place over time and does not start with a number of tracking locations already done in China). I've had at least one product that started in China, didn't move for days, and then eventually started moving from place-to-place. I've had another product just suddenly appear in tracking in China and then on my doorstep in maybe 30-ish hours (maybe this is what others are talking about?).

For shipments from China to you direct Apple uses UPS.
For local warehouse to you, Apple uses FED_EX.

Accessories, trade in boxes and other Apple store items may ship via FED-EX as they are in the US.

My delivery is via UPS (still in Shanghai, China) for 2/2 delivery.
But my Apple store delivery is coming in via FED-EX for 2/3 pickup.

Interesting it’s still preparing to ship supposed to be here friday
No worries, when it moves, it will move fast.
Remember, the international date line crossing will give Apple another half day of time.

So don't be surprised to see movement from: PVG-ICN-ANC-SDF in a matter of 24 hours.

Courtesy of crossing the International Dateline from west to east, a day is gained. Still cannot get my head around it. Example: UPS flight 81 leaves Shanghai Monday at 9:49 pm local time and arrives in Anchorage Monday at 12:19 pm local time. Same day and much earlier.

Just for emphasis: UPS tracking appears to use local time for sorting the list (or used to, at least). So, the locations of your package aren't necessarily listed in the correct order, and it's sometimes possible for the package to appear to be traveling backwards (e.g., China to Korea, back to China, and then back to Korea, etc.).

Yes, the local times are confusing - I have seen them tracking iPhones from China and when it lands in Anchorage, AK the times & days seem to have gone backwards.

No updates on my UPS since the 23rd when it "arrived at facility" in Shanghai. Apple still says "preparing to ship". Interestingly my ETA did move from 2/2 "by 9pm" to "by 7pm". Niiice.

One new thing - my Zeiss inserts now say "shipped" on Apple, and they have shown up on my UPS as a .3 kg package coming from China with some movement today (Departed from Facility Guangzhou, China).
