You and I are very similar - hitting that magic age of 60 this year and retiring in 2 years so why not!

My recent tech purchase was an EV so this is my second expensive recent purchase.

BTW I had to forgo the prescription lens upload as my eyes haven't been checked in awhile as it hasn't changed much.

Hoping it will work without the lens inserts as I have a very light correction....
Also in the same boat turning 60 later this year, Have to enjoy life as much as possible. For you young ones it really is freaky how fast the time has gone. Feels like a flash of time when I was in my 20's excited about the newton being released.

My light seal size came in the same each time, but the headband, of course ended up as a small for my pre-order so I ended up having to order a medium (band only) as well, oh well, by the time I would’ve gone back and changed it and done the face scan again it would have slipped dates. Hopefully, Apple will make it easy for customers that have a poor fitment switch out the original one. I have a feeling that it’ll be like the Apple Watch where the band comes separate from the device itself and its own box and hopefully they’ll have some sort of program to switch them out. I don’t know lol. I’m just impatient and I didn’t wanna wait for a headband to enjoy the device.

Got the 512gb version. I had to split my payment on two cards since I saw no option to use my Apple gift card on the purchase. Is it possible to edit payment and add the gift card amount before it ships?

Looks like the first batch of 256GB are sold out? Dates are mid February for those. Larger storage options still showing 2/2 for me.

Yes, contact Apple customer service - they can change media payments.

Just have to do this before it "Prepares to ship".

It also seems to depends what device you use for the scan. I was getting different sizes with my M1 iPad Pro compared to my iPhone 13 Pro. I went with the iPhone 13 Pro measurement though (21W and medium bands which seems to be a common measurement).

Got 1TB coming on 2/2, worked out after some panic-inducing situations.

This buying experience was a throwback to the "fun" situations I had with iPhones before 2019 or so.

My iPad mini allowed orders first, so I tried that. After starting the preorder, it said I need to use an iPad or iPhone with FaceID. So I used the iPad Pro.

It wasn't really clear to me how far to turn my head left and right for the scan, they should have had some pictures or an animation.

After that was done, there was some Apple Pay drama. Apple Pay failed twice, but the Apple Card itself worked. Seems to be some garbage problem with my address that only happens in the Apple Online Store, and only with iPhones before 2020 or now the AVP, never with anything else. Very weird.

Still happy that it worked out.

In my area (So Calif) I have 8 Apple stores nearby and the base 256GB is still available for delivery on 2/2 but Apple store appointments have slipped to the next day or 2.

a lesson I learned when my wife passed away from cancer at age 45, you never know when your day will be your last.

Order thru by 5:15 PT, but still 2/6 shipping (512/med/med/21w) 😭

I also have a giant head so surprised on sizing. But I’ve scanned 4x now…

I've also got a giant, ridiculously large head. Hat makers quake in their boots when they see my head coming! And... it gave me a medium headband... lol. I have a feeling I'll be going back to the Apple Store later on pickup day saying I've got the wrong sized headband and they need to do another scan. Question will be how much stock they have of spare headbands on release day!
