So looks like FOM might be ready to approve GM as a "factory" team for 2026 utilizing the facilities Andretti Global is building in the UK. GM has agreed to be the formal owner of the team, which has assuaged FOM's fears of how comitted they were to be in F1.

Looks like confirmation that Michael’s Leadership Style was the impasse. Looks good to go. Especially with the new UK Based Satellite Facility. 😉

I am sure Michael's attitude played a role, but I believe the main reason was FOM was afraid that as a "customer" team (first of Renault and then of GM), A-G would not have the financial depth to ensure they could stay in for the long haul.

A-G's new owner has very deep pockets and GM now making it a "factory" team appears to have assuaged FOM's worries about them sticking around for many years to come and they are now willing to let them join in 2026 using customer PSUs until GM's is ready in 2028.

Whathisname from Red Bull, that muppert with the singing wife, has absolutely nothing in the underpants department.. Should have fired Perez after FP1 race 1.. Hired Totto's misses.. Zak Brown is a better driver..
To quote the great Stevie V, dirty cash (money talks).

William's spending cash from the next 5 seasons this weekend... Oh dear a red flag, a big crash, and cash burning, I wonder at what rate, $1000 a minute maybe at William's?

Yes Colapinto is one expensive boy. I think the saying is better a fast racer that makes mistakes than a slow one. Hmm that might work without a cost cap and with a rich team. Those poor engineers don’t get a chance to rest.

Shame about Lewis mistakes. That Mercedes comes alive in the cold. Great drives by Carlos and Pierre.

Max hanging in there but in front the the mclarens. Will be worth getting up at 6:30am tomorrow. Let’s see what this cold race brings.

10 PM PST Saturday evening. If you're on the east coast that's 1 AM Sunday.

Interesting qualifying. Gasly did an amazing job to get P3.
Russell looked strong all weekend though and it was a lot closer in the end.
With two Ferrari’s in the first two rows they should be able to get some massive points in the constructors.
The cold will play a big part in the race. Those that can get their tyres into the right window will benefit. I’m expecting SC in the race for sure. All those cold tyres and big heavy cars will be a challenge. Pit stop timing will be crucial.

What’s up with Alpine? Have they suddenly found some go faster fuel or something? Interesting grid… if RB keep Perez I don’t know what to say. Max has pretty much done everything he’s done on his own, his team mate joins him on the ‘odd occasion’.

I manage an app that does motorsport start times (converts to your time zone for 140+ series, all sessions). Notifications, widgets, etc - https://trlapp.com

This may interest you. It's subscription, but it's cheap (99c per month). 2025 it will also include streaming for series which allow it.

Soooooo... why is the race starting so late here in the US?

Here is what i found:

Why is the F1 so late at night in Las Vegas?

The 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix starts at 10 p.m. local time on Saturday, November 24, making it midnight or later for many viewers in the United States. This is the same start time as it was for last year's race.

The reason? Global broadcasting opportunities.

Las Vegas Grand Prix CEO Renee Wilm explained the decision in 2023, saying: "That was actually a compromise to make sure we are broadcasting at a time when our European fans can get up with a cup of coffee and watch the race [at] six, seven in the morning, very similar to how we [in the US] watch the European races.

"So that was actually a very important component of planning out our sequencing for the race weekend."

Of course, staging a night-time race amid the neon glow of the Strip also adds a certain aesthetic lustre to the event, much like those in Singapore and Bahrain.

Ocon and Gasly are really good in slippery conditions. So is Max, so he might do another Brazil and march to the front once the race starts.

The Cool Down Room was interesting after Brazil. I thought for a minute they might go back to their karting days in the wet. They seemed to really be relishing the podiums in the wet. At least that was my impression.
