man that F1 kids broadcast... lol had to keep the volume down.

Is it safe to say that the 2024 Regulations are working... or just has it been a series of misfortunate incidents?

It's Monaco, it's really become the outlier track where things are going to happen but aren't really indicative of anything. With everyone pretty much out with their upgrades and how tight everything is this early in the season, should be interesting to see what happens the rest of the racing calendar.

Well, I'm not surprised. If it were Carlos or Fernando they would have issued one.......

Ahh yes the conspiracy against the Spaniards and kmag hasn’t been getting any punishments at all.

There wasn’t really anything in that crash. First lap incident, not every incident has to be punished and neither should they be.

Ooh my first team could be in trouble, with Newey going end of the year, and McLaren or Ferrari ahead of them in a couple of races so far. Luckily for me McLaren is my second team along with Aston Martin.

Usual dodgems for the first lap at Monaco, wonder if Magnussen will get a race ban? He’s very lucky he didn’t cause Perez some injury with that one.

Apart from the fact he could see a Red Bull right next to him and he moved across slightly hitting it. Nothing at all in it otherwise.

Yes that’s how crashes happen. It was lap 1 there’s no conspiracy for British and Danish drivers.
This kind of things gets left all the time without punishment.

Who‘s on about ‘conspiracy‘s‘ apart from you? K Mag should have got a penalty for that, he took two others out with his stupidity, I’ll be surprised if he’s kept on when his contracts up in Haas.

I have to say that I’m excited for the prospect of Newey going to Williams and Albon! No idea why but I like Alex. Like Lando too.

A couple of posts up where you quoted my reply. That guy 🤷

I would be very surprised as well he shouldn’t be getting a penalty for that though. Hulk took himself out, clear as day what was about to happen and he still threw himself in to it.

Yes Alex is very likeable. And Newey and James I can see work together very well as well. A team with a lot of history, local, and a technical principle focussed on small sustainable improvements and investment (albeit oh so boring).

Absolutely. I don't believe salary will be the driving factor in Adrians decision. In fact, I don't believe it will be close to the top of his criteria.

If salary mattered, Newey would be going to Aston Martin as it has been said ARAMCO is willing to pay him whatever he wants and they can comfortably out-bid any other team on the grid.

The Race believes that Red Bull will re-sign Perez soon because he is the "safe" choice having already been fully integrated into the team and he will not cause any issues with Max. If true, I presume that means Sainz will sign with Audi and drive for Stake next year (god help him considering how crap they are now). Toto seems to be holding out for Max possibly bailing from Red Bull and therefore are not said to be interested in Sainz as he is demanding a two-year contract with options.

Personally, I think if Sainz does sign with Stake/Audi, we could very well see Bottas back in the Mercedes for next year or two with Kimi replacing Logan at Williams to have a year or two to get acclimated without the pressure of being a driver in Mercedes' works team. Bottas will be out of a drive if Sainz joins (since Hulk is almost certainly replacing Zhou) so why not park at Mercedes for a year or two and then either hope for an open seat or move on?

Also according to The Race, Jos is on the warpath again, complaining that Red Bull is not doing enough to fix their issue with ride height on bumpy tracks. The RB20 has to run as low as possible for the maximum benefit from the ground effects and when they have to raise the height - like at Monaco - it really hurts the car's performance. Canada could be another track that catches them out on this and, of course, there is Singapore where they floundered pretty hard last year.

Interesting.

Bottas and Hamilton rode the pre-race wagon together on Sunday. Stood by themselves in the far corner the entire trip.

My son commented, “Wonder what they are discussing. It looks serious?”

I think the signing of Perez is also from the continuing power struggles at RBR. I think Horner wanted Sainz, but couldn’t pull it off due to objections from Max’s side. I’m ok with Perez signing though. They need some known content during this period of change.

I think Max to Mercedes goes away with Perez signing. One never knows though….

Rumours doing the rounds that Alpine might be dropping Ocon before the Canadian GP. I wouldn’t be surprised at all as he’s crashed into every team mate he’s had and it’s never his fault apparently. Monaco looked like the straw that broke the camels back.

Bruono has had enough of Esteban. The video of Esteban tangling with Pierre on Lap one between 1-2 probably doesn’t help the Turn 8 incident.

Dude has won a GP, albeit from an amazing effort by Alonso, and he can't get along with anyone.

It will be interesting to see how long Perez is re-signed for. I would expect Red Bull's plan is to eventually replace him with Liam Lawson (with Lawson replacing Danny at VCARB in 2025), but are they also developing a contingency plan for Max leaving in 2026-2028?

If they believe Max will stay through 2028, I could see them giving Perez another year and then showing him the door for Liam in 2026. If they believe Max might bolt, then do they go two years plus options so they have him available through 2028, if needed, and have Liam slot in for a departing Max?

As for Sainz, I really expect him to go with Stake/Audi now. Audi will pay him far more than Williams could/would and while Williams is improving, I do not see them competing for wins, much less championships. Not that Audi likely will during Carlos' tenure, either, but at this point, better to take the money and run and at least with Audi once your F1 career with them is over, you have options in other categories of motorsport.
