I am thinking of returning the ZeroLemon charger and getting something else (maybe two separate chargers?)

Is it a good idea?

So whats the consensus on the cheapest way to do fast charging? Like which charger and cable should I get? I really only need one or two ports. Thanks!

I don’t think you can save a lot of money. You can get an Anker or Aukey charger, but you have to get the apple cord.

Just gonna copy/paste what I sent to someone via a PM:

You would need to find a USB-C charger that
  1. Supports Power Delivery
  2. Supports 14.5V or 15V @ 2A - the voltage (V) is the critical component.
which is what the iPad Pro will use. The situation is different from the iPhone X, which uses 9V charging that the 87W/61W chargers support.

The easiest way to find one is to search for "usb-c power delivery 15V" on Amazon, then filter by brands like Anker, Aukey, RavPower, although you can take a risk with some of the lesser-known brands.

For example https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Delivery-Charger-PowerPort-Samsung/dp/B06Y427WT7 or https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Charger-Delivery-MacBook-Samsung/dp/B076VTVH5H will work.

The nice part about USB-C Power delivery is that this also applies to power banks. For example, https://www.amazon.com/RAVPower-Portable-26800mAh-Recharged-Nintendo/dp/B01LRQDAEI. If you read the Description below, the line:

Type-C Output: DC 5V/3A,9V/2A,15V/2A,20V/1.5A

is exactly what you're looking for. That should be your way of finding the right charger / power bank, along with the words "USB-C PD" or "USB-C Power Delivery".

THE CABLE YOU USE MUST BE THE APPLE BRANDED USB-C TO LIGHTNING CABLE FOR IT TO FAST CHARGE.

Are you sure the X won’t negotiate 1.2A @ 15V for an ~18W power delivery, from a 29w charger, just like the 8 Plus? I’d test mine, but it’s at 100% at the present time :)

Well I don’t know whether the iPhone will accept 15V, haven’t tried it myself. I was referring to how the 67/81W chargers are appropriate for the iPhone X because of the 9V compatibility.

I suppose the iPad Pro also supports 9V, but it’s not at max 30W power which is suboptimal.

EDIT: ok I see the confusion. My reply was to a query regarding the suitability of the 67/81W charger in the original PM I received, the context for which is not present here.

20000mAh power bank + Charger, both PD for $60 - seems pretty good!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071WNWRNC

Got to use the code ANKERPD9

EDIT: OK be aware that the power bank doesn't do the full 2A output @ 15V. That... isn't really ideal for iPad Pro fast charging, not sure how that works.

Upon discussion with the vendor and reflecting on how it performed during my recent trip, I decided to return the ZeroLemon charger and get two separate chargers

Which of the USB C chargers here do not have the touchscreen issue?

EDIT: I recall @sparksd mentioning this Anker charger (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y427WT7/), will go for this and another Aukey charger if I do not hear any other recommendations

Yes, I'm using that Anker charger + Apple cable without any issues.

I just ran into the unresponsive fingerprint scanner problem with a different charger - it's a multiport charger+outlets with connections for both A/C and USB. No matter the cable, if I plug any Lightning charger cable into it and my 10.5 iPP, the scanner will not work. Weird.

Didn't see it mentioned, but I admit I haven't read all 17 pages, has anyone tried this? Or a similar outlet that maybe has two or four USB-C ports?

https://www.amazon.com/Charge-TOPGREENER-2-Port-USB-Charger-Outlet/dp/B01MU3OI3N

If it doesn't say "Power Delivery" or "USB-C PD", then it won't fast charge.

That is the one tested in the first few posts in this thread. It's should be fine.

Personally I'd go with the Power Bank + charger combo though. Fast charging your iPad Pro via a Power Bank is really bliss.

EDIT: Ok I took a closer look at the power bank, seems to not do the full 2A @ 15V. So it'll not be as fast as directly from the charger. Hmmm... I guess that explains the "offer" pricing.

RAVPower 26800mAh USB-C PD Power Bank: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LRQDAEI

Code E85JTZQQ brings it down to $55. I have this power bank, definitely works as advertised to fast charge iPad Pros. This one actually does 30W unlike the previous one I posted, although sadly doesn't come with a power adapter bundled.

Thanks for the confirm! This is the first time I heard about the fingerprint scanner having issues though

Thanks but I already have a power bank that does USB PD (Aukey PB-Y7) so I just need to change the charger and also the powerbank combo does not ship direct to Singapore

Gotcha, I didn't read it close enough, I saw the quickcharge thing, and noticed it talked about iPhones/iPads but didn't read close enough to see they were limited to 2.4A@5V on the USB-A port, and 3A@5V on the USB-C port.

The second part of my question stands though. Has anyone found a similar outlet that does support USB-C PD with 2 or 4 ports? That is what I would really like to find, I'm trying to do away with wall wart chargers and just put these outlets where needed.

I've just been using these for now, but would like to get updated versions when available.

It was reported over on Reddit. I quit using those charging ports after I saw the issue = whatever is causing can't be good for the iPad.

I can't find the relevant Reddit threads unfortunately but these charging ports don't sound like good news to me

Unfortunately this promo code is nolonger valid. Dont want to pay full price for this. Will look for other options.

Only $34 now with promo code ANKER599
Great deal!

Thanks, I picked up two of these.

Question about charging and iphone 8+, maybe wrong thread. I picked up the Anker 60w, does 30W usb-c PD on one of the ports. I'm using an official apple usb-c to lightning cable and I see VERY good charging speeds. The issue that has come up on the past few days is, the phone will charge fast but stop essentially at 98%. I hear the charging "ding", one ding only and then another ding as if charging is stopped, then started again, then stopped, etc.. Anyone seen that issue? Is it phone, cable or charger maybe?

Are you charging an iPhone, an iPad or both?
