Any luck with 3-rd party USB-C to Lightning cables?
I did try https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XCGXTQ4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Metrans cable with OEM Apple 29W brick ... didn't work.
From 1% to 26% n 48 minutes with locked screen.

Haven't tried any yet... but I would think any cable that would work would probably need to be thicker to handle the increased power load. That might be a good indicator - if it's as thin as a USB-A to Lightning cable, it probably won't work or if it does, it probably isn't safe to use.

IMO this is the best battery pack out right now.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01M...r+usb-c+pd&dpPl=1&dpID=41Pi-jS9IOL&ref=plSrch

You'd have to do some research on charging the iPad Pro though.
Is the charger that comes with this battery pack (despite being described as "27W") exactly the same as the Anker charger tested in the original post of this thread? Has anyone yet tested fast charging of the 2017 12.9" iPad Pro using this battery pack and/or the included charger?

I think it's the same one.

Testing right now another cable with 29W brick. So far 1:15 took to turn on iPad 10.5 from completely empty battery to 1%

EDIT:
No, this cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0716VXG3X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
even though it is thicker than type A cable, it takes around 45 minutes to charge for 25% ...
Too long to be a fast charge?

Which anker are you guys referring to? And is it certified ?

I have an Apple USB-C to lightning but looking for 29w for cheap or some other fast charge solution

Yeah it should be closer to 1% a min.
Yeah. Picked up OEM Apple cable and now I have ~60 minutes = 63% charge.

So, I can conclude that all aftermarket cables on Amazon (USB-C --> Lightning) are pieces of cr*p.
They do not work and do not fast charge.
Lol.

The cost savings don't seem worth goingnanker for 20

Just scored an apple genuine 29w from a good rating reseller for $28 on eBay. Ymmv

Am I missing something?

Agreed. Especially hard to justify the Anker now that some Targets have the 29W charger for $14.98-$24.98 in store only. DPCI is 057-00-4154. Use Brickseek to check local inventory.

sadly not in my area, tried Brickseek just now

MFI certified doesn't have anything to do with the charger. That's a certification for the proprietary lightning connector.

Really? Interesting. Never thought about that..

I guess I haven't followed this closely but it charges FASTER than apple's?

Interesting too! Brickseek is how I scored a 399 9.7 pro 32gb wifi for my dad for Father's Day at Walmart. But sadly the only 25$ clearance store doesn't have any instock

I'm ok with waiting for my ebay Apple charger

Thanks for the heads up anyways

Not in my area Targets either.

I just received the Anker 29w brick from Amazon and I'm planning on getting the Apple brand 2m cable from Best Buy with a small reward certificate discount.

Yes it charged faster than Apples 29w charger.

Look at my test data here: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...d-party-adapters.2052414/page-5#post-24743854

I explained how the Anker performed better. I've since returned the Apple brick, after two more tests and the results were on par with the first comparison. I can purchase again and redo the tests at the same battery levels if that'll help.

Interesting test but I would keep percentages the same and definitely re test. Have as many constants as possible with the only variable different chargers

Same hardware being charged, no apps open, etc

In any case it doesn't seem substantially better,so I'm still naturally more comfortable with a matching white cube with an apple logo on it

Now if I couldn't find a discounted/used 29w and had to resort to paying full retail of 50 bucks, sure anker all day every day

Like I said anker is a good brand. I am personally a fan

I'll redo it all tomorrow, or tonight if I can run and grab another Apple brick. It was all done on the same iPad Pro 10.5, nothing open. The only difference was the battery percent.

... of course my 10.5 is at 97% right now lol.
