Well I in a way downgraded to iPhone 8 plus 256GB Space Gray from iPhone X... Did not like the form factor from the iPhone X was so hard to get use to it, I got so use to the iPhone 6 Plus size that going smaller in phone size is hard... Also did not enjoy none of the screen protectors that are available for the iPhone X. I am ocd when there is dust particles under the ACTIVE screen which was a bezel-less screen.... When there is dust or something under the screen protector but its in the bezel it doesn't bother me one bit, so like the iPhone X was bezel less it was almost impossible to get all dust and lint off while, previous Phone Plus sizes phones with bezel I had better success and even through the edges of the iPhone plus were little messed up it did not bother me due to my focus is on the active screen, in my iPhone 7 Plus I had like messed up the edges but it didn't bother me at all... So i wasn't enjoying the phone and wanted to go back to iPhone 7 Plus but instead wanted to keep the other cool things that X had like wireless charging and true tone display, the speed and its speakers too...

I had best buy install Zagg which I have done at all my phones in the past 5S to 7 Plus and X (X SUCKED it did not cover the whole ACTIVE screen at all) But man for first time the protector does not sit completely, like not totally flat, no dirt goes in but its not right... Anyone recommends a protector for it but covers the screen and case friendly?

The thing I like Zagg is that in the iPhone 7 Plus even when I lifted it several times to remove dust and lint with tape it would seal completely after..... I want to go back for them to put a new one, but I saw it happens to a lot of people in reviews, I did buy a cheap one in amazon called sparin which I had for the X edges did mess up on the X but I know it won't bother me if its on the 8 Plus cause the edges are the bezel part it arrives Monday... I might go to Best buy have them reinstall the screen protector but I was able to realigned also, guy left a small part and the part that was more out was where it didn't seal completely. I don't really want to try until I get the sparin... For my ocd, I also got Applecare and had them refund the AC+ for the X.

Went from a 5S to an 8 plus so obviously I'm delighted.

The biggest surprise for me is how good true tone is. Combined with the size of the screen it's actually comfortable for me to read for extended periods which I really wasn't expecting. It looks like this thing can replace my Kindle so that's one less thing to pack on holiday :)

Anyone in here have a regular (non-plus) 8? lol.
Yeah I went from a regular 6 to an 8 Plus...can never go back! The bigger screen, amazing battery life, and dual cameras is all so worth it for a large phone. Plus, True Tone is like such an underrated new feature! My eyes are so thankful!

It's to the point now where the 4.7 iPhone is really coming down to those who prefer the smaller form factor (And cheaper price point). Apple clearly is investing more technology into the larger iPhone Plus models with the dual camera/Augemented reality
and of course larger battery. The Most popular feature on an iPhone is the camera, which Apple advocates heavily on what the dual camera is capable in marketing and keynotes with the Plus model.

It sinks both camera lenses couldn’t have OIS, but besides that I’ve heard the difference in quality between the X and 8 Plus photos are negligible. I haven’t even tried the augmented reality stuff!

IMO, that OIS on a tiny lens in a tiny camera has very little impact.

It's hard to tell from these forums, but there are a lot of people for whom the Plus phones are just too large. I think the future is probably phones like the X that combine the approximate form factor of the 4.7" phone with the display size (unfortunately, not ratio) of the 5.5" phones. There's some work to be done to make that transition attractive but the issues are well within Apple's ability to address.

Those who did get the regular 8 is the battery life still awful?
The battery life or the 8 is very good IMO. Note, I disable some Privacy - System Services. I’ve had 8 and 8 Plus. If you are used to non-Plus I think you will be very happy with the 8, especially the camera.

When i got my fist iphone 8 plus it was clicking all the time (even when using 3D touch) in the upper app row

https://i.imgur.com/UWod3EQ.jpg

I got it exchanged with a new unit, and it is fine for the most of the time. But every time it gets hot (gaming or heavy usage) it’s making a clicking noise in this part

https://i.imgur.com/Rg79Pa3.jpg

Unlike the first phone the clicking is more like “single click” noise when pressed harder, and if the phone is “cold” normal temp everything is perfect. When i’m out in the real world the phone is perfect, but when i come home the clicking is here to bother me :)))

Really dont know what to do. I had simullar isues with 6+ 6s+ and 7+ so maybe is the design itself

Other than that I love this phone. And IMO it is better investment than X

I had something similar - a slight knocking sound when I pressed the screen. I only ever noticed it in the evenings. It didn’t bother me much, I just lazily wondered what it was. Turned out, it was when I’d been holding the phone up two handed for long enough for my little finger to go numb - it then knocked against the back of the phone and I couldn’t feel it.

I swapped my iPhone X for the iPhone 8.

My daily usage of course is the same, my 8 easily gets me through the day without extra charging mid-day, just like my old X.
I dare to say I am quite a heavy user during the day (private and work).

It's hard to believe we are nearly halfway through to the next iPhone release.

This 8 still seems so new and fresh to me, believe it or not. I think it unseats the 4S/5S as the most beautiful phone Apple has ever made. The glass back in this almost smoky cement color on the silver is just awesome.

I keep coming back to just how good it feels in the hand compared to my 6. The extra thickness and weight feel so so nice. Battery life seems to have improved quite a bit also. Really a great, underrated product IMO.

I'm really interested to see what materializes in September for the next non-X phone, but I can't see myself giving this one up.

Yes, I'm very happy and settled with mine.

My only "regret" is that I didn't buy an 8+ as well as the 8. There are times when the small, light 8 is perfect. But other times when I'd appreciate the larger screen size of the 8+.

Still don't miss the X.

I’m loving my 8 Plus as well...everything except for the stupid speakers crackle! Ugh...

Every once and a while, I get curious about what I’d be like to have an X because sometimes the 8 Plus is a bit big. Having the wider screen is nice though...I want to see what happens this September. What’s the chance Apple makes an X Plus but the body is slightly smaller than the current 8 Plus?

Great photos. I have to say, there is something about the 4.7 inch iPhone that I absolutely appreciate how comfortably fits in my hand and to carry in my pocket. When I did own the 4.7 size, I absolutely appreciated everything about it except for the smaller display and battery life. Otherwise, I still think the 4.7 iPhone is one of the greatest sizes Apple has ever made and it has its own elegance.

My wife has the X. It has grown on me. My concern with the X Plus is weight. The 8 Plus is as heavy as a phone should be IMO.

The 8 Plus. Gorgeous design. Great screen. Amazing battery. Possibly best iPhone ever except for the busted speaker sound.

Maybe Apple will offer me an X to get me by until the next model after all the speaker issue ‘work’. Maybe I end up with a Pixel 2 XL. Don’t knew yet. Maybe they can actually fix the issue (this I doubt).

i thought the speaker crackle was solved with software early on? or was there still a problem on the plus model?

Hahaha good luck with them giving you a free X dude, but you can try! The more I think about it, the more I should have gotten an X honestly. But I do like my 8 Plus...just the stupid cracking speakers and it’s size is big sometimes.

My 8 plus is my first iPhone. I love it. I'm curious how ios 12 will change it. Seems most people with the previous model phones always claim the new iOS ruins them. I bought this phone hoping for 3 years out of it.

8, 8 Plus and X have speaker clipping issue. Try Night Sky app.. or Sky Guide, Sudoku Master Edition.

Been working on this for months, since launch with Apple.. no resolution yet.

I doubt they will. If they ask what I want it will be refund or replace my 8 Plus with X..hell. I don’t know. Very tempted by Pixel 2.

I think the 6S still runs great on current software.

Any OIS on a zoom lens on a phone is more marketing than IQ improvement.
[doublepost=1518912120][/doublepost]An X, slightly wider, with on-screen or back TouchID (Pixel 2) would be a no-brainer for me.
[doublepost=1518912255][/doublepost]Outside of the speaker clipping the the 8/8 Plus is the best iPhone ever made IMO.

I believe Apple will focus more on refining and improving iOS 12 this year over iOS 11. I think they are well aware of the some redundant complaints from reports and users. Apple needs to improve the experience with having more consistency. iOS 11 has improved, but it started off poorly.
