I believe Apple will focus more on refining and improving iOS 12 this year over iOS 11. I think they are well aware of the some redundant complaints from reports and users. Apple needs to improve the experience with having more consistency. iOS 11 has improved, but it started off poorly.
Hope so because long time Android users like me mostly assume an iPhone lasts 4-5 years in ideal situations.

Hey all, I was looking for some advice. I don't post off and on here but you guys seem to have the best and honest opinions. I have an iPhone 8 plus and a Galaxy Note 8. I cannot decide which phone I want to use as my daily driver. My biggest Pro on the iPhone 8 plus is the battery life is unbelievable. I cannot figure out how to upload a picture on here but I'm a pretty heavy user and right now it's 7:45 a.m. on Sunday morning. I charged my phone 21 hours and 57 minutes ago and my usage time is 8 hours and 2 minutes and I have 28% left of battery.. to me that's the best battery life I've ever seen on a phone. I like the camera better on the iPhone 8 plus. As far as everything else I like the note better. I love the big screen as well as a lot of the customization features as well as video. I wanted everybody's opinion on how important battery life is on a phone. It's kind of ridiculous as I don't live in a desert where I have no Outlets. I have all kinds of devices to charge my phone, it's just a mental thing of loving to not have to worry about being near a charger or having to use a phone that's plugged in. Please let me know your thoughts and opinions as I really appreciate it

Sounds like you hit the nail on the head about battery life...that’s why I love my 8 Plus as well...has the best battery life of any iphone! It’s so convenient about being out and about and having ease of mind that the phone will easily last the whole day is amazing! I always had to charge up my old 6 before leaving the house for a long period of time because I knew the battery wouldn’t make it.

I figured out how to upload a pic.. So you can see I am not lying.. I have never experienced that.. Taking a phone off a 24 hours before and still having it have 20 percent.. Its funny how certain things bother certain people. I have a friend who only cares about battery life. I love the notes screen, multi tasking, video, scrolling.. It is a pain in the butt switching sim cards every few days, so I am trying to figure what is the most important feature. It is silly that I am even obsessing over battery life. the note still gives me 5 hours of on screen time but the 8 plus almost doubles that.

Agree. Battery life on 8 Plus is crazy good. The camera is batter than Note 8 as well. For me, those are huge.

Just curious...what uses up your battery the most? It’s hiding in your screen shot haha. With my 8 Plus I ALWAYS get at least 5 hours of usage by the time the battery drops to 50 percent. I still have not drained it past 30 percent either. Quite amazing.

I will look and check for you.. It looks like it is messages, youtube, perfect web browser, home and lock screen, phone. Why do we obsess over battery life? I am trying to figure out what it is that makes me so excited when a phone lasts a full day lol.

It's hard to believe we are nearly halfway through to the next iPhone release.

This 8 still seems so new and fresh to me, believe it or not. I think it unseats the 4S/5S as the most beautiful phone Apple has ever made. The glass back in this almost smoky cement color on the silver is just awesome.

I keep coming back to just how good it feels in the hand compared to my 6. The extra thickness and weight feel so so nice. Battery life seems to have improved quite a bit also. Really a great, underrated product IMO.

I'm really interested to see what materializes in September for the next non-X phone, but I can't see myself giving this one up.

I probably won't upgrade for a long time. I have plenty of disk space free and the battery life on the 8 and the speed seem to be optimal for my needs.

They need to STOP slowing down units, and STOP decreasing battery life. I wont upgrade to iOS 12 after its released as I like my battery life and speed.

The battery life is great, but I honestly am wondering how it will be a year or two from now. Which is why I hope I can replace my 8+ battery this fall (if I haven’t upgraded to some other phone)

In a year or 2, I’ll be ready to dive into an X Plus (hopefully) so that is not a big concern for me. What matters is does it suit your needs in the NOW?

So true...for some reason long battery life is exciting for me as well!

I'm a heavy user of my 8 plus. Mostly phone calls that use half of my battery on any given day. Its the weekend so I haven't made many calls. Mostly FB and texting. I did try out a few new games briefly last night before falling asleep. This is probably the best battery life Ive ever gotten...

To tell the truth, I haven't noticed anything especially remarkable about my 8+ (coming from the 6s+). But after thinking about it for a moment I realized that it's because the 8+ works so well, and I take it for granted. My only gripe is about the home button (hard to find sometimes in low light because of the black bezel)--and that has more to do with my clumsiness and less to do with the iPhone's design.

I'm glad I skipped this first iteration of the iPhone X. Had a look at it and just wasn't moved. Perhaps the jumbo-sized X will resonate with me.

If iOS12’s WWDC reveal is underwhelming, I am done with Apple. Can’t stand another go around with an iOS 7 design and lack of features. A 5.5” screen that barely offers additional features.

Siri is a labotomized assistant. Apple continues to release overpriced products that provide me less value. I don’t want a HomePod built around a 3rd rate assistant.

The other day I asked about terminal numbers for a Florida airport. Siri told me about JFK Airport instead.

View attachment 751718 Love my 8. Came from a 6S Plus, the smaller size is easier to manage. Battery life is excellent.
Wow that’s excellent battery life for a non-plus phone! Makes me wonder how much usuage I can actually get out of my 8 Plus before it dies...best I did was 7 hours of usage at 35 percent before I put it on my wireless charger to go to bed.

Then go to Android. I love Apple and so do most on this board. Those that do not need to move to Android and stop gripeing.

That’s incorrect. Apple doesn’t “Decrease your battery life” .The performance of the iPhone is Throttled by the overall health of the battery. Significant difference in what you posted.

Every new IOS version decreases battery life.

Don’t you think that’s a bit dismissive to just tell someone to go android because they have some general concerns about iOS or Apple? I’m also an avid Apple fan, but even I have my complaints and this is a forum for others expressing their displeasure or thoughts. Sometime sharing concerns at least let others know what issues they might be experiencing as well with Apple. Not everything is all praises,.

True. They are not perfect. I prefer MS Office to use at home and work because it’s more powerful than Apples apps. I also use Windows 7 at work because it better suits the needs of the business and generally MS apps have more features than Apples.

I still love Apple and prefer Apple for most uses. Well at work I have to use Windows because it’s what the company chose as the default.

Or Apple can step it up and not release a Snow Leopard version of iOS to get something with minimal bugs out in time for the next iPhones. I don't need to simply switch OSes. I am expecting Apple to actually make software worthy of a big screen.

I actually want Apple to succeed on the software and hardware side. I love my Mac and iPads are awesome. Windows tablets are slowly disappearing because Windows doesn't offer too many optimized tablet apps nor do they have entry level models. The 2017 iPad is a good product because it is often on sale, offers a high resolution display, good processor, sufficient RAM, and you can multi-task on it quite well.

What do you mean nobody touches tablets? I see people using tablets all the time.

I’ve been averaging charging my 8 every 3 days. Shortly after I posted earlier my phone died. Threw it on the charger and went about my day around the house, pulled it off the charger a little while ago and I will probably be able to go till Wednesday morning before I need to charge it again. Loved my 6S Plus when I had it, but this time around decided to skip the Plus model. Love my 8, best iPhone I’ve owned. I've had the 3G, 3GS, 4S, 5S, 6S Plus and now an 8.
