That's been a long time. I mean, we had a 55-60" tv in like 1995.
Just projector TVs, I don’t think there’s any tube TVs that big, if there was they probably had to weigh 600 pounds.

32 inch was kind of the standard TV size for both tube and flat panel LCDs, and what was considered a large TV, even into the very early 2000s.

I remember back in 2003 I purchased an expensive 30” Widescreen Tube HD TV.

I remember that were flat panel TVs, but I don’t think that they were much bigger than 32” in 2003, and they were pricey. The picture quality suck on them, too.

Get a Studio Display and a Mac mini instead.
When the Mac mini hardware is outdated (which will happen years before the screen is), get a new Mac mini instead of having to toss the entire thing. Much better for the environment.
The issue is the pricing with the ASD. At $1599 and then add another $200 for a keyboard/pointing device and you are basically at the price the base 27” iMac was and that is before the retail discounting (plus the 27” was easy and inexpensive to upgrade the RAM). Now you still have to add the computer! Computers typically are immune to inflation over time, so that is no excuse either. Apple just doesn’t have a good value proposition for those when have a 27” iMac and want to upgrade but don’t want to downsize the monitor or resolution.

Dell now sells a 6K 32" monitor for $2,600. After Apple releases a new 8K 34" ProDisplay for $4,999 plus stand/mount, they could easily sell a 6K 32" monitor for $3,300 and find plenty of buyers willing to pay the Apple premium.

Let's assume that as plausible. Add a whole Mac with M3 or M4 PRO or MAX to it and ship it with a keyboard and mouse. What is that price?

It was $2200 not long ago. 27" LG 5K is now under $1000.

lots of "4K" posts again, not realizing the difference between 4K and 5K. Its significant, hence the reason 27" 4K monitors are $150, and 27" 5K are 10X as much.

I hear all you "get a mini and screen" people, but until March 2022 --- there was ONE 27" 5K screen to be had -- the crap LG @ $1400.. So, if you did have a nice 27" intel iMac, or wanted a new mini with a 27" 5K screen = meh.

My 2020 iMac has a 1 TB drive, radeon 5500 and 128 GB of ram (that I use all of) Comparable spec mini doesn't exist. Its mini pro or studio @ $2500 + apple 27" screen = $4000.

32" iMac... Might start at $4000, but $5000 with 64/1TB.

Waited 4 years to replace my old imac and finally pulled the trigger last month on the studio combo. This was inevitable

I wonder how Kuo generates these rumors.

Random number generator feeding a word processor?
ChatGPT?
Copying stuff from MacRumors forums?
He's not copying from me!

Looking back to 2020 & 2021 makes me wish that Apple continued using the last Intel iMac 21.5" & 27" for the M1, M1 Pro & M1 Max.

Or better yet

- I accepted that offer to buy my 2012 27" 2.5K to upgrade it to a 2015 27" 5K so by 2025 it turns 1 decade old.

- I delayed upgrading my 2011 MBP 13" for a 2021 MBP 16".

So what’s the estimated price on this? $8000?😂 ugh what a mess apple has made of their lineup. By the time this is out everyone will have a Mac Studio and display and just be pissed off they took so long for this

I have been a long time fan of the iMac, and still own a G3, G4, and many Intel iMacs, but I will most likely not be purchasing another one.

Apple should bring back Target Display Mode for the iMacs, so once the performance no longer meets the needs of the user, the display can still be used for another Mac.

I wonder how many iMacs with perfectly working, beautiful displays are thrown away or recycled because the user needs something faster?

100%

Im getting rid of 2013 iMac with a perfectly good 27 inch screen. To replace it, I got a Mini M2 and paired it with my 2009 Thunderbolt Display. At some point I'll upgrade the Thunderbolt Display. Never again buying an AIO computer.

By the time 2025 rolls around the market for iMacs will have shrunk, significantly more than now. People will have got used to using a Laptop, Mini or Studio enough that they will stick with what they have. Sure many will buy but they have left it far too long.

"At 32 inches, a larger ‌iMac‌ would offer the same dimensions as the 6K Pro Display XDR, which Apple sells for $5,000."

So said predicted giant iMac will start around $8,000.00. And why on earth would Apple put a cheap 32” display in such a machine? Nope, if this comes to pass it will be VERY expensive, not exactly what the tech blog crowd wants at around $2,500.00. More weeping and gnashing of teeth to come I’m sure.

2025? What is taking so long for a larger iMac?
Right? Even now they couuld just take Apple Studio Display and stuff it with motherboard. The chassis is already there! But it is the same story as with not upgrading the 24-inch iMac - they don't give a flying f about that lineup.

My usual take: don’t buy a very good display that is forever stuck with a good but non-upgradable and non-repairable computer.
I’ve recycled 2 of the 5K screens because of the computers inside, wish I could have kept both of them. It’s a Studio for me.

I do find it funny after years of xMac rumours to finally get an xMac and since then we’ve now had years of iMac rumours.

I just hope Apple sells a 32” mini-LED display separately if one does come with an iMac.

Is it 100% silent like an iMac?
The Studio is much quieter than my 2019 iMac. I imagine the Mini is the same.

Also, the iMac was not silent. The fans of my i5 6 core used to get decently loud when I was exporting video or pushing it in some other way.

apple has to bring back rainbow apple logo and slap it into the new imac's chin. RGB of course 🤣

I would never consider buying one of these

totally unrepairable and upgradable by the user. unlike all the intel Chip iMacs.

junk or trash when it breaks.

just save the money and wait for a standalone display. the intel iMac had a beautiful high resolution display for years, but they became useless once the hardware became obsolete. mac + monitor = more expensive, but you won't regret it in the future

I've got a 2019 iMac (i9) that still gets daily home use, upgraded the office M1 Mini to an M2 Studio Ultra.... the iMac is by far the noisiest of the three, but that only happens when rendering/exporting video. Otherwise they're all silent.

At some point we need to just disregard these “rumors”. As of yesterday it was rumored that all new iPads would be announced today. Now we are getting excited about a new product rumored to be introduced in two years?

yes. we are all excited.

not.

Crazy high Profitability in large displays is not so easy to achieve I guess. Otherwise there is no explanation since retina 27inch iMac was launched almos 10 years ago…
